Abstract: A supporting device (MC) is described to slidingly support, and linearly move along an axis (X), an object such as e.g. a leaf. A magnetic return force generated by the cooperation of a magnetic flux generator (54, 56) and an element (10) reactive to the magnetic field, develops. The element is able to slide relative to the axis (X) during the movement of the object, and has a cross-section (62) which, seen in a plane orthogonal to the axis (X), has a width that varies along the length of the first element (10) parallelly to said axis (X).

  • Patent number: 11608672
Abstract: Exemplary implementations of a thermally-efficient slidable fenestration assembly are glass window systems or glass door systems having one or more sliding glass panels. The fenestration assemblies are adapted to be mounted in an architectural structure such as a building or house. Accessory channels in the fenestration framework may be provided to facilitate nail-fin, retro-fit or screen adaptors as means to attach the assembly to the surrounding architecture. Stiles, tracks and rails of the assembly are specifically configured to reduce heat transfer across the fenestration assembly, while simultaneously maintaining the structural integrity and durability of the overall assembly. Certain stile, track and rail components may comprise materials of relatively low conductivities. Preferred stile configurations include interlock elements arranged to reduce the assembly's vulnerability to tampering from a position outside of the fenestration.

Abstract: The fenestration structures include external frame segments facing the interior and exterior surfaces of a building wall, and an internal frame segment “sandwiched” between the external frame segments. The external frame segments are made from a relatively hard, dense and/or resilient material, such as hard wood, while the internal frame segment is made from paulownia which is a moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable thermal barrier material. The external frame segments therefore provide durable and attractive exterior and interior surfaces of the fenestration frame, while the internal paulownia segment provides superior resistance to thermal transfer across the frame, while also remaining dimensionally stable across a variety of moisture and temperature levels. Internal paulownia segments may be positioned around the entire periphery of the fenestration frame to create a comprehensive thermal barrier.

Abstract: A sliding window assembly for a vehicle includes a frameless fixed portion having first and second glass window portions and includes a sliding portion having a glass window panel. The sliding window assembly is a horizontal sliding window assembly and is configured for mounting at an opening of a bodywork of the vehicle. Upper and lower track members are adhesively attached at the rear surface of the first and second fixed glass window portions and no portion of the upper and lower track members is in contact with the front surface of the first and second fixed glass window portions. A glide member is longitudinally movable along the lower track member to facilitate movement of the glass window panel between its opened and closed positions. The fixed portion is adhesively bonded to the bodywork at a frameless periphery of the fixed portion that faces the interior of the vehicle.

Abstract: A pre-formed insert with stable dimensions for mechanical insertion into a hollow member and that reduces the Nusselt number and convection across the hollow member. The insert may be formed of a low heat conducting material like PVC and have extensions and internal voids that impede convection in the hollow and conduction through the insert. The inserts may be used in stiles, rails, heads and sills of aluminum windows and doors. In one embodiment an insert is received in an open hollow and may cooperate with an insert in a frame hollow to decrease convection at the head end of a sliding window or door. An insert may be placed within the hollow of a window or door beside a roller assembly.

  • Patent number: 8646211
Abstract: A sliding door system includes at least one sliding door having an upper and lower sliding-door mount, as well as an upper and lower guide rail for displaceably receiving the upper and lower sliding-door mount, respectively. The guide rails extend parallel to each other and each have a clear inner width that is at least twice as large as the thickness of the sliding door. The upper and lower sliding-door mounts are each at most half as wide as the clear inner width of each guide rail, allowing moving the sliding door into recessed and lifted-out positions, each constituting a stable state. By overcoming a resistance force, the sliding door can be moved between stable states. The sliding door system is lightweight and robust, and enables sliding doors to be displaced freely without a particular sliding door being assigned in a fixed manner to a particular opening to be covered.

Abstract: A structured-core laminate panel can be made in an efficient, structurally sound manner without the use of adhesives (film or liquid forms) using materials with different melt or glass transition temperatures. In one implementation, a manufacturer positions one or more resin substrates about a structured core, which comprises a relatively high melt or glass transition temperature compared with that of the one or more resin substrates. The manufacturer heats the assembly to at least the glass transition temperature of the resin substrates, but not to the melt or glass transition temperature of the structured core. This allows the one or more resin substrates to melt and bond (mechanically, chemically, or both) to the structured core on one side (or inner surface), while maintaining a substantially planar or original conformation on an opposing side (or outer surface).

The side frame members of the movable window include upper and lower guide elements that are slidably received in respective channels along opposite portions of the frame. The channels are configured to move the movable window along the fixed window panel when the movable window assembly is at least partially opened and to move the movable window to a position where the movable window panel is generally coplanar with the fixed window panel when the movable window assembly is closed. When the movable window is in its closed position, a seal sealingly engages an inboard surface of the side frame members and an inboard surface of the upper frame member and an inboard portion of an upper perimeter region of the fixed window panel.

Abstract: A modular fenestration system includes a collection of standardized functional units such as double hung window units, casement window units, picture window units, transom units, and the like. The functional units all share common sightlines, common glass set-back, common interfaces, common design language, and are sized according to a unique modular or incremental sizing grid. The sizing grid specifies individual window units in terms of the rough opening size in which they are designed to be installed. Individual functional units are easily combinable in a vast array of combinations to create a large number of possible composite window units. The system also includes a collection of interior and exterior trim units, grilles, and hardware in various architectural styles that can be attached to installed standardized functional units via the common interfaces to match the architecture of a particular home or building.
