The lock comprises a lock bar movable between a locking position and an unlocking position, an internal support brace, wherein the lock bar extends through the internal support brace, and a spring configured to bias the lock bar into the locking position to hold the leg in the erect configuration. The lock bar is spring-loaded against the internal support brace, wherein the entire length of the spring surrounds the lock bar, and wherein the spring is confined entirely within the internal support brace.

    Abstract: A vehicular container, lid-latching system and method is practiced by outfitting a vehicular container and container lid with an automatic uniquely configured latch mechanism and a latch-engaging structure uniquely configured to cooperably engage the latch mechanism. The latch mechanism is automatically operable by way of engagement with structure directed thereagainst and preferably outfitted upon the container at one end thereof. The latch-engaging structure, preferably outfitted upon the lid, engages the latching mechanism under a directed load and for automatic and selective latching securement or latching release of the lid relative to the container.

    Abstract: A closure assembly includes a panel that defines an opening. A handle includes a grab bar that is moveable from a retracted position through the opening into an extended position. A cover is coupled to and moveable with the handle. The cover is disposed within the opening and flush with the exterior surface of the panel when in a closed position. When the handle moves from the retracted position into the extended position, the cover moves out of the closed position to allow the handle to pass through the opening. When the handle moves from the extended position into the retracted position, the cover moves into the closed position to close the opening. A closeout is coupled to and moveable with the handle. The closeout moves into an exposed position as the handle moves into the extended position to conceal the remainder of the opening not occupied by the handle.

Impact with the contact surface by the rod inhibits the rod from moving the outer handle lever in an unlatching direction.
