The SMC is subjected to matched molding, male and female, into a configuration in which one-half includes the window recess, a track for the same, the track being conformed by virtue of an offset for a screen as well. The entire door, is subsequently filled with foam to secure the two halves together. A closer recess, pocket for a lock, and screen and window mounting means are also disclosed.

The sleeve may be rotated to a locking position on the latch side member where the notch is located over a portion at the slot. A rod extends inside of the latch side member. The rod has a cap end and a hooked end. The hooked end of the rod may be adjusted in the slot and notch by moving the cap end.

    Abstract: An improved latch guarded door lock and frame system is provided. A recessed surface is provided in a hollow metal frame, and is dimensioned to accommodate a latch guard so that the external surfaces of the door, frame and latch guard are flush. The recessed surface of the frame behind the latch guard is further reinforced by employing a thicker wall than is used in the rest of the frame, and by welding a square metal tube into the recessed region. A medial metal support is also welded into the lock box cavity in order to prevent the lock box from collapsing under stress. The resulting door lock and frame system is less penetrable than prior systems, and provides greater security because the latch guard is less vulnerable to prying and because the frame and lock box are reinforced, thus less likely to collapse under stress.

    Abstract: A door hole cover for covering a hole in a door has two substantially flat cover plates that are secured to opposite sides of the door for covering the door hole. The first cover plate has an attachment tube extending from the center of its inner surface such that the attachment tube is positioned inside the door hole during assembly. A centering disk is placed over the attachment tube and held in place by a retainer clip. A fastener fits through a hole in the second cover plate and engages an internally threaded hole in the attachment tube to secure the first and second cover plates to the door in a position covering the door hole. The centering disk inside the door hole substantially prevents movement of the cover plates in a plane that is parallel with respect to the door. The centering plate may include three removable tabs that are left in place to cover relatively large door holes, but may be removed to cover smaller door holes.

Due to the curvature of the door glass, the low friction tape must be applied in several separate segments so that wrinkling of the low friction tape is avoided when applying the tape segments to the door glass.

Since the edge of the door is closely adjacent the doorjamb and striker plate, the door reinforcing member may be stamped from relatively thick stock having a substantially uniform thickness, thereby reducing manufacturing costs.

This allows a hinge bracket 11 to be attached to the thicker sheet 1 at the exposed area 5 by a plurality of bolts leading through holes in the thicker sheet. The bolts may comprise sheathes, e.g. of nylon, or they may lead through bushes, e.g. of nylon, to avoid direct contact between the metal of the bolts and the glass if this is desired.

These systems give the same security when in or away from the dwelling.
