  • Patent number: 5364022
Abstract: This relates to an improvement in a lock for closure panels of a carton of a wrap around type. Most specifically, the lock is formed between a male panel and a female panel of an overall closure panel with the male panel being provided with a projecting tab and the female panel having a folded down terminal panel portion with a cutout therein which receives the tab. With the lock so partially formed, scores or creases are rolled into the tab after which the tab is first folded down alongside the terminal panel portion of the female panel and then the folding of the tab is continued so as to swing the terminal female panel portion up beneath the male panel with a nose of the projecting tab passing through a slot in the male panel.

  • Patent number: 4930681
Abstract: A container which can be constructed in one-piece or in two pieces. The container is preferably of corrugated paper-like material and is preferably of the "E-flute" type of corrugated material. The container includes a body member or body portion and a cover member or cover portion. The container includes a latch which automatically operates to latch the container in closed condition when the container is closed. The container has panels and walls which are relatively angular so that the opposing walls are in effective covering relationship when the container is closed. Also, the angular relationship between the panels and the walls permits a plurality of the containers to be nested and stacked in a stack having a minimum height.

  • Patent number: 4897074
Abstract: A carrier tape system includes an elongated base strip and an elongated cover strip both formed of a plastic film material. The cover strip is substantially coextensive in length with the base strip. The cover strip has a top surface and opposed sidewalls extending downwardly from the top surface. The opposed sidewalls are spaced apart from each other a distance substantially equal to the width of the base strip. The cover strip further includes a hump projecting upwardly from the top surface and extends longitudinally in a parallel relationship to the sidewalls. Each of the sidewalls has an inwardly extending hooked portion formed integrally therewith. The hooked portion has its top surface spaced beneath the edge of the base strip to form a U-shaped recess to secure the cover strip to the base strip. A mechanism for forming the carrier tape system is provided by making modifications to existing carrier tape joining apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 4637544
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of boxes, wherein a sheet material, such as cardboard, is punched to produce a box element with at least five sections limited by parallel score lines; the ends of at least three sections are inserted and fastened in U-grooves recessed in side walls formed by synthetic material, a fourth section forms a lowerable and liftable cover and a fifth terminal section forms a closing flap, for which each side wall of synthetic material has an insertion groove. The fastening of the punched element to the side walls may be carried out without adhesives by means of the engagement of the punched element edges, and of cuts thereof, in the U-grooves of the side walls, and with some teeth of them. Some side flaps defined in the closing flap can co-operate with inwardly and outwardly directed teeth of the insertion grooves, by providing for the cover in closed position a releasable catch and, respectively, a sealed closing.
