  • Publication number: 20110281704
Abstract: A cup made of paper material having a fillable interior is provided. The cup is formed by a conical sleeve and a bottom. The bottom is attached to the sleeve at the lower end of the interior with a bottom skirt in an essentially liquid-tight way. The sleeve and/or the bottom in the area of the bottom skirt and/or the bottom skirt itself includes, at least in one area along the periphery, an outwardly projecting widening. A lower edge of the widening forms a standing surface for the cup. The widening can form a structure for holding another cup of the same type, which structure can act together with a similar cup during stacking. The cup can include a heat-insulting outer sleeve.

Abstract: An outsert molded product allows easy separation between a substrate part and a resin part at the time of disposal of the product. As a result, a significant effect of promoting preservation of the global environment can be achieved. The outsert molded product comprises a metal substrate having a fixing hole, an anchor formed by a resin that is fixed to the substrate and a groove formed in at least a surface of the anchor. The anchor is provided continuously inside the fixing hole and both surfaces of the substrate including the fixing hole, and the groove is formed nearly in the shape of a ring in such position that the fixing hole is projected nearly in the vertical direction to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6165115
Abstract: A process is provided for closing and hermetically sealing a bottom of a container. A cylindrical container body is provided which has an inside heat-sealable surface and an open bottom end. A flange is formed on and around the bottom end of the cylindrical container body which extends outwardly from the container body at a sharp radius of approximately 90 degrees to an outside surface of the container body and which defines a flat circular heat-sealable surface on an outer side of the flange. A generally circular membrane patch having an inside heat-sealable surface is positioned on the flat circular heat-sealable surface of the container body flange covering the open bottom end of the container body. The heat-sealable surfaces of the container body flange and the membrane patch are heat-sealed to each other for hermetically sealing the container bottom end.

  • Patent number: 5876319
Abstract: A machine for forming a variety of different sturdy, stackable three-part fiberboard containers having a depth dimension greater than their width dimension, and which are suitable for holding bags filled with liquid. The machine includes a slidable, removable mandrel which cycles between a fiberboard hopper area and a container forming compression area. Each of two side bins provides a fiberboard end panel which comes into contact with independently slidable edge picks on the mandrel. Just before the mandrel cycles forward, the edge picks push the fiberboard end panels forward where they are bent by the action of two folding elements. Meanwhile, a fiberboard body matt is brought into position in front of the retracted mandrel from an overhead feed unit. Adhesive material is sprayed onto selected parts of the body matt as it is placed into position in front of the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 5613933
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a shipping and display box of the type having diverter tabs that extend outwardly from the box walls is provided that has a guide plate for supporting a blank used for forming the shipping and display box, a catcher plate used for holding the blank on the forming apparatus, a diverter tab lever for extending the diverter tabs outwardly from the box walls, and an actuator for urging the diverter tab lever against the diverter tabs, the actuator allows the catcher plate to be released after the diverter tabs have been extended from the box walls so that the blank can be removed from the forming apparatus. A method of forming the blank into the shipping and display box is also described.

  • Patent number: 5518748
Abstract: An edible container includes a truncated conically shaped side wall panel made of an edible dough having a pair of opposed side edges which are overlapped with one another, and arcuate upper and lower edges. A plurality of parabolic pieces are integral with the side wall panel and positioned in side-by-side relationship about its lower edge. The parabolic piece are inwardly folded relative to the lower edge thereof such that adjacent ones of the parabolic pieces at least partially overlap and adhere to one another. These at least partially overlapped and adhered adjacent parabolic pieces form a substantially flat bottom wall of the edible container. To form the container, a flat sheet of edible dough is wrapped around a forming mandrel so that the side wall panel is formed into a generally conical shape.

  • Patent number: 5156583
Abstract: Box forming apparatus for forming a box from a box blank. The blank has a base with first, second, third and fourth side members extending along respective sides of the base. One of the opposed pairs of side members has parallel inner and outer portions. The other pair has flaps extending from each opposed end. In the apparatus, a pair of spaced, parallel frame members are slidably mounted on a fixed framework. A box forming plate moves vertically between the frame members. A rectangular box forming piston moves vertically between the frame members in alignment with and against the box forming plate. The forming plate and piston have the same size and shape as the box blank's base. A movable frame is provided for vertical displacement beneath the frame members. A flap tuck mechanism on the first frame members folds the flaps perpendicular to the other side members. The flap tuck mechanism is actuated by vertical displacement of the movable frame toward the frame members.

  • Patent number: 5156331
Abstract: A reclosable box construction suitable for storing, transporting, and dispensing sheet materials, as well as an article and method for making the box construction. The box construction has an outer shell and an insert member. The outer shell member has a generally rectangular central panel of flexible sheet material, a pair of side panels folder into a plane above the central panel, a first and second wing panels positioned over a portion of each of said side panels at opposite longitudinal ends of the central panel, the second wing panel having a removable pull tab element. The insert member comprises top and bottom rectangular panels joined at a fold line and having a tearable perforation line along its entire width. The insert member is positioned within the outer shell such that the side panels are between the top and bottom rectangular panels. The bottom insert panel is positioned between said central panel and the side panels and the top insert panel is between the side panels and the two wing panels.

  • Patent number: 5139194
Abstract: The present invention is addressed to an improved apparatus and method for making and using a self-locking container which may be non-destructively disengaged and thereafter re-interengaged. The invention features a polygonal container and an interlocking base and is well-suited where the container is also provided with an interlocking lid closing configuration. The base includes inwardly directed folded flanges which interengage with outwardly directed folded flanges provided on the lower edge of the container body. Therefore, when the container body section is nestingly mated with the base section, the oppositely-disposed flanges on each of the two respective container sections become lockingly engaged without the need for adhesives or other binding materials.

  • Patent number: 4930681
Abstract: A container which can be constructed in one-piece or in two pieces. The container is preferably of corrugated paper-like material and is preferably of the "E-flute" type of corrugated material. The container includes a body member or body portion and a cover member or cover portion. The container includes a latch which automatically operates to latch the container in closed condition when the container is closed. The container has panels and walls which are relatively angular so that the opposing walls are in effective covering relationship when the container is closed. Also, the angular relationship between the panels and the walls permits a plurality of the containers to be nested and stacked in a stack having a minimum height.

  • Patent number: 4344814
Abstract: A multi-piece, tub shaped paperboard container having a circular opening in the top thereof is provided with a multi-piece, reinforced rim coated with a layer of meltable plastic and is assembled by appying heat to overlapping seams in order to melt the plastic coating and thereby seal the seams. Heat is applied evenly around the entire periphery of the rim by a 2-piece, annularly shaped, heated collar which may be selectively shifted into conforming engagement with the container.
