  • Patent number: 10625906
Abstract: Embodiments include a method of manufacturing a container with a leak resistant seal. The method includes forming an elastomer or a plastic or any combination thereof into a container inside out by forming an outside portion of the container on an internal surface of the container before inverting the container and forming an inside portion of the container on an external surface of the container before inverting the container. In embodiments, the method includes forming or coupling a leak resistant seal on the external surface of the container before inverting the container. The leak resistant seal provides access to the inside portion of the container when the leak resistant seal is open after inverting the container and holds at least liquid internal to the container when applying an external force to the container without use of an external structure to keep the leak resistant seal closed after inverting the container.

Abstract: A packaging device includes a resin film, a covering device, and a heating device. The film includes a welding portion containing a hot melt adhesive and is capable of being welded to a portion to be welded. The covering device covers, with the film, at least a part of a packaging object placed on a base formed of corrugated cardboard and at least a part of the base. The heating device heats a contact portion with the base in a state in which the welding portion of the film is in contact with the base. When heat is added by pressing the welding portion against the base, the hot melt adhesive in the welding portion melts and bonds the corrugated cardboard and the film. Polar functional groups introduced into the surface layer of the film are mixed and combined with the functional groups contained in a fiber of the base.

Abstract: Resealable systems for consumer packaging, such as food packaging, are described herein. The system includes one or more anchor points and one or more cling coatings. The anchor points can be introduced into or onto the packaging material during manufacture, such as by co-extrusion. Alternatively, the anchor points can be affixed to the packaging material after manufacture, such as with a pressure sensitive adhesive. The cling coatings can be applied to the packaging material during or after manufacture. For example, the cling coatings can be spot coated or pattern coated onto the desired location. The cling coatings are selective, that is they do not attach to themselves but only attach to the anchor point. The cling coatings transfer little or no material over time resulting in more consistent performance over time than pressure sensitive adhesives.

Abstract: A method of automatically manufacturing a filled packette having a closure where a film is advanced from a feed roller to a punch that produces a series of holes in the film. Individual closures are then positioned into each punched hole and ultrasonically welded into place. The film is folded and oriented vertically so that heat sealing may be used to form the side and bottom edges of individual pockets. The film is then clipped to form individual pockets and filed with the appropriate amount of desired material from a bulk feeder. The filled pockets may be sealed along the top edge to form a closed packette and die cut to form the final packette shape.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the use of first and second adhesives for the attachment of zipper flanges to reclosable packages. A first adhesive is typically a reactive, cross-linkable hot melt adhesive while the second adhesive is typically non-cross-linkable hot melt adhesive, typically, but not limited to, either EVA-based or polyamide-based. Alternatively, the second adhesive can be a coextrusion layer including a resin that is typically used as a sealant layer in zipper extrusion, such as metallocene type linear low density polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 7909750
Abstract: A device is provided for feeding horizontally oriented packages or bags at a regular interval to a zipper profile attaching device. The loose packages or bags are placed onto a servo-driven lugged chain conveyor wherein the lugs are evenly spaced at the nominal desired center-to-center spacing of the packages or bags. The servo-driven lugged chain conveyor feeds the packages or bags to be captured between upper and lower secondary constant velocity conveyors. The lower secondary constant velocity conveyor includes an encoder which is used to slave the servo of the servo-driven lugged chain conveyor, with an adjustable programmable ratio. This achieves a consistent center-to-center distance of the horizontally oriented packages or bags which are then fed to a zipper profile attaching device.

Abstract: A closure system for a flexible bag. The flexible bag includes a plurality of panels defining an interior compartment of the bag, and a mouth portion for accessing the interior compartment of the bag. The closure system is implemented in two opposing panels of the plurality of panels. Specifically, each one of the two opposing panels further includes a first portion defining a handle and a second portion including an aperture. The first portion of each opposing panel is positioned at a top edge of the panel proximate to the mouth portion, and the second portion of each panel is positioned adjacent to and below the first portion. The handles of the two opposing panels are configured to be drawn together, inserted successively through each of the apertures, and then cinched in order to close the mouth portion of the bag.
