  • Publication number: 20140364292
Abstract: A plastic or other film bag is formed from a continuous extruded tube. The tube is flattened and sealed across its width at intervals to form bag bottoms. The bags are joined to one another at a perforation line and folded in thirds lengthwise prior to being rolled into a compact roll, either with or without supporting core. After folding the bags may be chisel cut through the center of the perforation line to assist in dispensing of the bags. The chisel cut will extend through all layers of the bag when folded, resulting in three chisel cuts in the bag. The bags may be gusseted for part or as much as all of their width. The bags may also be corona treated and printed on their outer surfaces. The bags may be formed from partially recycled materials and various combinations of linear low density, medium and high density polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 8424859
Abstract: A creasing apparatus forming a crease on sheets one by one includes: a first member having a linear convex blade formed in a direction perpendicular to a sheet conveying direction; a second member having a concave blade being paired with the convex blade; and a drive unit that moves the first and second members so as to cause the convex blade and the concave blade to form a crease on a sheet stopped at a predetermined position. The first member forms the convex blade with first comb and second comb and the second member forms the concave blade with third comb and fourth comb that advance and retract relative to each other. The drive unit selects advanced and retracted positions of the first comb and second comb and advanced and retracted positions of the third comb and fourth comb so as to perform a creasing process or a perforating process.

  • Patent number: 7922639
Abstract: The present invention is, in one embodiment, an apparatus for placing an insert within a nested group of taco shells. The insert placement apparatus comprises a vertical shaft, a horizontal shaft, a first pillow block, a second pillow block, a vacuum cup, a horizontal timing belt, an air cylinder, and a servomotor. The vacuum cup is adapted to transport the insert. The first pillow block has a bore therethrough for receiving the horizontal shaft. The second pillow block is supported off of the first pillow block and has a bore therethrough for receiving the vertical shaft. The vacuum cup is suspended off of the vertical shaft. The horizontal belt is routed around a drive pulley and a second pulley and is interconnected to the first pillow block. The servomotor is interconnected to the drive pulley. The servomotor causes the timing belt to displace the first pillow block along the horizontal shaft, thereby causing the vacuum cup to displace horizontally.

  • Patent number: 6416453
Abstract: The present invention relates to a “poly” bag machine and, more particularly, to mechanisms for operating the seal bar component of such machines. The machine according to the invention includes a mechanism for reciprocatingly raising and lowering the sealing bar in which the movement and position of the sealing bar are controlled by the drive shaft and are selectively adjustable by one or two separate servo-drives. A main link is coupled to a seal bar drive shaft for movement in direct response to its rotation. A second link is movably coupled to the main link. A servo-drive system including a servo motor or servo valve is coupled to the second link for adjusting the position of the second link with respect to the main link while the main link is moving in response to the rotation of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4447218
Abstract: Presented is a method and apparatus for the substantial automatic folding of flat pre-cut blanks of sheet material to form storage envelopes for floppy or rigid disc storage devices. The machine includes a pedestal formed in part by an electromagnet associated with a clamp plate that constitutes an Armature to retain the sheet material immovable during the folding operation. Additionally, there are provided three rams each associated with a pivotal shoe for folding selected portions of the flat sheet, and reciprocable glue dispensing means are provided for dispensing glue at the appropriate time, in an appropriate amount, and in an appropriate location. The mechanical aspects of the apparatus are connected to and controlled by a computer that scans the functions of the machine to determine if the machine is operating properly and signals the operator through an alphanumeric display panel if there is a malfunction in the apparatus.
