  • Patent number: 8715148
Abstract: Problems concerning adhesion strength and aging time are eliminated in plastic-bag production in which a strip sheet is bonded with an adhesive and a handle is formed from the strip sheet on an outer surface of a plastic bag. Provided is a bag-making machine in which a strip sheet (17) and a web material are disposed so as to face each other and are pressed, with a high-adhesion adhesive (21) and another adhesive (25) interposed therebetween. The strip sheet (17) is provisionally fixed to the web material with the latter adhesive (25). This web material after the provisional fixing is wound on a roll, and a plastic bag is produced after lapse of an aging time for the high-adhesion adhesive (21). In this machine, the web material is supplied from the roll, and a plastic bag is produced from the web material.

Abstract: This is a method and device for making a packaging box from two blanks (2, 3), wherein blanks are taken simultaneously from two adjacent stacks (25, 26) and placed on two parallel tracks (29, 30), the blanks are transferred flat until butted longitudinally to an assembly station, the first blank is glued on its way to the longitudinal abutment position, the first and second blanks are butted laterally into their respective positions to give them an exact lateral reference position, they are grasped, and transferred laterally, and the second blank is placed on the first blank which is thus indexed, escaping the drivers (61) of the first track (29) when the second blank is placed against the fast blank, but clamped by vertical pressure. The second blank is then applied to the first blank to glue them together in their respective defined longitudinal positions, and the resulting set of blanks is then transferred to an erecting station where the box is erected by rolling the blanks around a core.

  • Patent number: 7503885
Abstract: A soft shell, flexible storage tank is provided, including corners of an improved configuration adapted to resist leaks. The walls of the tank and the corners are relatively more rounded and larger in radius than those of conventional flexible tanks. The walls and the improved corners act together to resist leaks. The rounded corners tend to reduce the effective pressure in the tank walls by loading the seams predominantly in shearing stress when the tank is filled with a liquid. The rounded corners are developed as panels, which are thermally bonded to produce secure and reliable liquid-tight seams. Each of the panels is bonded by lapped seams to others of the panels. Each of the rounded corners includes a generally triangular corner that is bonded to at least three other panels. In effect, the flexible storage tank functions as a pressure vessel, which tends to resist leakage.

With the aid of retainer jaws displaceable in a circumferential direction of the wheel, and fixedly disposed abutments, the position of each tab transferred to the wheel is corrected before the tab reaches the deposit station, so that the transfer to the packaging material web takes place in accurate register with markings previously provided on the web. The method and apparatus is well-suited for use in connection with continuous material webs travelling at high rates of speed, such as 400 to 500 meters/minute.

  • Patent number: 5000726
Abstract: A handbag is assembled wherein a right and left side silhouette blank are initially severed from a web, wherein a separate sole and a tongue are also provided, wherein the tongue utilizes a plurality of slots directed interiorly of a forward edge of the tongue to permit securement of sides of the tongue to upper sides of the blanks. A forward slot is formed in the tongue between the spaced slots for selectively receiving a support belt therethrough. Upon assemblage, a separate sole pocket is formed utilizing an upper and lower layer with a zipper sewn into a side wall of the thusly formed pocket, and wherein an upper interior surface of the sole is formed with a coextensive layer of hook and loop fasteners to secure the sole pocket selectively thereto.

  • Patent number: 4384915
Abstract: A cam operated gripper driven by an endless chain receives at a feed station a wrapped straw having a heat-bondable portion and carries the straw to a bonding section. The gripper is associated with an electric heater which is in contact with the gripped straw. In the bonding section, an electric power supply rail is provided so that a collector of the heater slides on the rail, energizing the electric heater to heat the heat-bondable portion of the wrapped straw. In the bonding section, the heater is also pressed against the carton travelling in a production line at the same speed as the moving speed of the heater with the heat-bondable portion of the wrapped film therebetween. Thus one film wrapper is heat-bonded to each carton. After the completion of bonding, the cam operated gripper releases the straw allowing the straw to remain attached on the carton.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing smoking casings in which a web of tubular casing material is perforated in the widthwise direction at predetermined intervals. The web is then creased by roller discs and folded in a strip-like configuration. A doubly-folded band of plastic material having a notched portion is inserted between one of the creases and the assembly then clamped with a metal ring around the notched portion. Finally, the end of the web is clamped, then rotated in a direction tangent to the feeding direction of the web of casing material so as to tear completed casings from the web.

  • Patent number: 4264065
Abstract: A film-splicer for splicing together the abutting ends of a pair of films by means of a splicing label having supporting paper strips and a intermediate tear off piece. A base pivotally mounts a film-turning windowed flap. A pair of film clamps on the flap allow the locating of the film-ends-to-be-joined relative to the flap. An upwardly-facing projection extends upwardly from the base and through the window in the flap. Prongs extend upwardly from the projection for aligning the splicing label relative to the abutting film-ends-to-be-joined. A cam is pivotally mounted on the base. A folding and detaching pin has opposite free ends, is pivotally mounted on the flap, and extends across the window. The tear-off piece is folded in a hairpin-like manner around the pin by means of the cam.
