Abstract: Aspects of the methods herein relate to the fabrication of diaper pants wherein side panels connected with the first waist region of a discrete chassis are conveyed in a first direction until a second waist region advances past a nip. The crotch region of the chassis is then redirected into the nip, folding the chassis to position the second waist region into a facing relationship with the first waist region. The folded chassis is then conveyed in a second direction with the side panels positioned on panel conveyors extending laterally outward from the first waist region. As the folded chassis travels in the second direction, the panel conveyors twist to position end regions of the side panels to connect with the second waist region of the folded chassis. The side panels and the waist regions of the folded chassis may also be compressed between the panel conveyors and a roller.
Abstract: A storage container includes a receptacle having a circumferential sidewall and a sleeve fixedly attached to the receptacle having a circumferential sidewall with a left edge, a right edge, and marginal portions adjacent the left and right edges wherein the edges meet to form a butt seam. The receptacle sidewall and the sleeve sidewall define an insulating layer therebetween. The insulating layer includes a first edge and a second edge wherein the first and second edges do not extend under the marginal portions such that the insulating layer has a smaller circumference than that of the sleeve sidewall. A method for forming a storage container is also provided.

Abstract: An assembly comprising: a tube made of resilient material, at least a portion of the tube forming a circumferential boundary of a chamber; first and second end cap assemblies supporting the tube at opposite ends thereof and forming respective end boundaries of the chamber, the chamber being filled with pressurized fluid; a hard roller that forms a nip with the tube; a fixed structure that supports the first and second end cap assemblies and the hard roller, the first and second end cap assemblies and the hard roller being respectively pivotably coupled to the fixed structure, and the fixed structure comprising a passageway that is in fluid communication with the chamber; and a slider-zipper-film assembly that is passed through the nip. The tube is deformed radially inward to allow passage of slider through the nip.
Abstract: A cigarette filter assembly machine wherein a rolling unit is defined by a rolling drum and a guide drum coaxial with each other and connected to each other in angularly-fixed, axially-sliding manner; and wherein the rolling drum has a number of suction rollers (54) rotated, with respect to the rolling drum, by respective independent drive units; the guide drum has a number of semicylindrical cavities, each coaxial, and defining a relative rolling channel, with a relative suction roller; the suction rollers receive, with a first spacing, relative groups of component parts of a relative double cigarette; and each drive unit rotates the relative suction roller to roll the relative group inside the relative rolling channel and to extract a relative double cigarette from the relative rolling channel, and reverses the relative suction roller to release the relative double cigarette with a second spacing smaller than the first spacing.
Abstract: This invention describes a two-wheeled apparatus with rotating translators means and multiple pincers for the packaging tag connected to the terminal free end of a handling thread, whose other free end is fixed to the bag itself.
Abstract: A method of forming a paper container uses a three ply corrugated material having at least one inner or outer sheet of paper that may be stretched or compressed circumferentially to permit subsequent rolling of the corrugated material about a mandrel. A flattening of the upper and lower edges of the corrugated material permit rolling and seaming operations to be used to assemble the bottom to the cup and to form a lip in the upper edge.
Abstract: A zipper sealer machine for use with a form, fill and seal machines and the method for bonding strips of reclosable fastener material to the film of a form fill and seal machine. Strips of reclosable fastener material are cut and the cut ends fused together by cutter-fuser jaws. A sensor senses when the cutter-fuser jaws become fully closed and when they begin to open so that other steps in the operation can be based on when the jaws actually begin to open and when they are actually fully closed rather than when the signal is sent that causes them to open and close. Relief area that have been coated with an anti-stick substance have been provide in the engaging surfaces of the cutter-fuser jaws to avoid fusing of the flanges and to prevent sticking of the flanges to the cutter-fuser jaws. The cut strips of reclosable fastener material are held on an edge of the rotor that is remote from the film surface.
Abstract: A zipper sealer machine for use with form, fill and seal machines and the method for bonding strips of reclosable fastener material strip fastener material to the film of a form fill and seal machine. The zipper sealer machine is adapted to be mounted within in the form, fill and seal machine and coordinate with the components of the form, fill and seal machine such as its film control mechanism. The zipper sealer machine includes a substantially symmetrically formed rotor having a pair of outer edges. Reclosable fastener material strip fastener material is fed to an outer edge of the rotor and cut to length. The cutting process also fuses the cut ends of the reclosable fastener material strip fastener material . The rotor is rotated 180 degrees, which locates the strip of reclosable fastener material strip fastener material adjacent to the film course at which it is bonded to the film.
Abstract: A machine and method for converting a web having an indefinite length which includes a plurality of converting stations circumferentially spaced about an process drum. At least one of the converting stations includes a helical follower gear operatively meshing with a helical drive gear attached to the process drum. Movement of the follower gear along its axial direction provides for the relative rotational registration of a tool on the registrable converting station relative to the web.
Abstract: Filter bags containing a substance from which to prepare an infusion are fashioned from tubular blanks of filter paper having an elongated appearance, each one filled with measured and separate quantities of the substance distributed along its length, which are doubled up and made secure, then provided with a label attached by a length of thread. A machine for automating the manufacture of such bags includes a wheel carrying grippers with radial arms, around which the thread is drawn peripherally as the grippers are indexed in turn through a station where the blank is folded double initially, a forming station at which the two joined ends are folded together to effect a closure, a cutting station at which the thread is divided into single lengths, a feed station supplying the labels, and a fastening station at which the length of thread is knotted both to the label and to the closure.

Abstract: A mechanical apparatus and method for producing a folded paper rose from an elongated strip of paper. The apparatus is operated by feeding an elongated paper strip through a rotating shuttle assembly, and securing the end of the paper strip onto a slotted stem which is rotated simultaneously with the shuttle assembly. Rotating the shuttle assembly causes a pair of shuttles to cooperate with a paper folding member adjacent the ends of the shuttles to produce a series of sequential folds in the paper strip. Meanwhile, the stem is simultaneously rotating to assemble the folded paper around the stem. Once the paper is fully assembled around the stem the folded paper strip is compressed toward the top of the stem to form a compact flower assembly at the end of the stem.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus produce a stack of overlapping, U-folded- or zig-zag-folded individual material sheets, in particular of absorbent paper, that mesh with one another. The stack is formed by two roller systems or roller sets, one for each of two material webs. Each system includes a stacking roller (8, 9) in a stacking station. The two stacking rollers cooperate in the stack formation. Each set of rollers includes at least one cutting roller (11) with a cutting knife (12) for each material web, a transport roller (13), and a pulling and guide roller (14). All rollers are arranged and driven in a machine frame. Each stacking roller (8,9) has at least one crimping- and folding-edge (16,20,21) and at least one tiltable suction gripper flap. At least one suction element (23) is part of the suction gripper flap and at least one further suction element (24) is arranged behind the suction gripper flap or behind the crimping- and folding-edge as viewed in the sheet travel direction.

Abstract: An article of manufacture comprises a plurality of nested plastic bags for use in lining containers such as garbage cans or waste paper baskets. The assembly is manufactured by placing successive plastic bags over a jig. The upper edges of the plastic bags are adhered to each other, for example, by conventional heat sealing means. The adherence between individual bags is such that the innermost bag can be separated readily from the remaining bags after the assembly is placed within a container.
