Perforating Patents (Class 493/63)
  • Patent number: 4631046
Abstract: A folded paperboard tray suitable for cooking food products contained in the tray in a microwave oven has an interior surface which is coated with a styrene methyl methacrylate copolymer to prevent liquid seepage from the food product through the paperboard. The tray has a peripheral flange formed thereon which is connected to the remainder of the tray by means of a cut score fold line. The use of the cut score fold line prevents the copolymer coating on the tray from tearing away from the edges of the tray when the edges are cut from a stock sheet of coated paperboard.

  • Patent number: 4610649
Abstract: In the manufacture of a package used to hold liquids, wherein the package has a perforated or punched-out rip-out opening or a point at which a drinking straw can be inserted, wherein a cardboard web is coated on one or both sides, printed and processed into packages, the improvement which comprises advancing the web past a station prior to coating, and at such station punching or perforating the web at predetermined intervals at predetermined points while simultaneously applying to or impressing into the web register marks, whereby such register marks serve to ensure proper location of the subsequently applied print relative to the punched or perforated points. This differs from prior processes in that it involves perforating the cardboard web prior to both coating and printing, and thus is a simpler process resulting in a superior product.

  • Patent number: 4581008
Abstract: An apparatus which produces a precisely shaped and positioned perforated line in a blank for a parallelepipedic package has a blade and a roller for pressing the blank against the blade. The blade is stationary relative to the packaging blank and provides a perforated line which does not penetrate the inner layer of the packaging material. The roller is mounted on a connecting bar which is linked to a reciprocating drive. The roller moves in a guide which positions the roller relative to the blade during each stroke of the reciprocating drive.

  • Patent number: 4257317
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a paper container, where a parallelepiped inner body in the form of a box having no top panel board from a first blank sheet of corrugated board or card board is first fashioned. An outer body by packaging the inner body with a second blank sheet in such a manner that said outer body is in close contact with the outside of the inner body is then made. Finally, a continuous cut in the outer body is made to divide the outer body into the upper part and the lower part so that said upper part of the outer body can be detachably mounted on the inner body.

  • Patent number: 4235160
Abstract: A percolator having a cylindrical basket concentric with a wand is provided with a filter paper cup having an annular bottom coextensive with the bottom of the basket and having upstanding fluted sides. The filter cups are formed by cutting and forming them into a nest of cups having an imperforate bottom, transferring the nest of cups to a frusto-conical die having a circular top commensurate with the circular bottom of the filter cups, a central die-hole, and outwardly and downwardly flaring sides corresponding to the natural outward flare of the nested cups, and punching an axial hole in said nested cups while on said die by means of a punch complementary with said die-hole.
