  • Patent number: 11660607
Abstract: A separation disc for a centrifugal separator is adapted to be included in a stack of separation discs inside a centrifugal rotor for separating a fluid mixture. The separation disc has a truncated conical shape with an inner surface and an outer surface and a plurality of spacing members extending from at least one of the inner surface and the outer surface. The spot-formed spacing members are for providing interspaces between mutually adjacent separation discs in a stack of separation discs. The separation disc further includes at least one elongated rib extending from the inner surface to a height (h) that is less than the height (H) to which the plurality of spacing members extend. Further, at least one elongated rib extends from first position on the inner surface to a second position on the inner surface.

  • Patent number: 6549817
Abstract: A process for regulating a centrifuge used for solid/liquid separation of sewage sludge commences by measuring the input variables of the operating point ot the centrifuge, the variables including 1) suspended matter content of the centrate; 2) the flow rate of sludge; 3) the flow rate of reagent; and 4) the value of torque of the motor of a conventional centrifuge. Operating zones are established, each of which is two dimensional relative to the input variables. Fuzzy logic rules are established, qualifying the operation of the centrifuge, the rules respectively corresponding to the zones. The rules are implemented in response to the input variable measurements, where actions on the sludge flow rate and reagent flow rate make it possible to bring the operating point into a particular zone of optimal and stable centrifuge operation.

  • Patent number: 6059971
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a process for thickening and conveying waste water sludges, especially with a centrifuge. Here, the centrifuge has at least one lysis device for the breaking down of cells of organisms contained in the waste water sludges. The lysis device of the device of the invention may take the form, for example, of a friction grinder (100; 200) with grinding discs (161, 162) or a milling cone, a shaped rasp, a roller crusher, a passing drum, a cutting unit with rows of rotary cutters or a pin grinder with rows of rotating pins. The device of the invention is capable of the lysis of cells, especially those of bacteria and protozoons so that their cell content discharges into the surrounding medium which then acts as a simulation reagent for the bacteria still present in the sludge, so that on the one hand the total quantity of sludge can be greatly reduced and on the other the bio-gas yield is considerably increased.

  • Patent number: 4991766
Abstract: A process for manufacturing an improved flight assembly for a vertical centrifugal separator. e.g., of the type used to dry coal, is disclosed. The flights are first welded to the cone on which they are to be carried, then the outside edges of the flights are machined, for example on a vertical mill, after which a hard facing is applied to at least a portion of each flight. Preferably a stabilizing ring is welded to the bottoms of the flights before machining. A machining tolerance of plus or minus 1/64 inch (with respect to the gap between each flight and the surrounding conical screen with which the flight assembly is to be used) is preferred. The hard facing may be a weld having a hardness of at least about 40 Rockwell (C scale).
