Flaps (310) reduce cold air entering via the openings. Tabs (45A-45D) stabilize the sleeping bag so that it does not slide along the hammock. The hammock is routed through the sleeping bag and connected so that the sleeping bag is suspended. The insulation on the bottom layer is below the hammock and so is not compressed by the weight of the user. This helps to preserve the insulating qualities of the sleeping bag, even when used with a hammock. The hammock rings are connected to available support objects, such as trees or posts.

The other of the members to be connected to the key slot shaped opening include corresponding lugs with large head portions which fit in through the larger portion of the key slot openings and then slidably engage securely in a narrower portion of the key slot opening to hold the three members together. Foot members are connected at the joints between the hammock stand member and connected with a combination of a similar key slot shaped arrangement, and conventional screws. The hammock stand components are preferably made of light weight metal tubing and covered with a covering such as wicker mesh.

The fabric hangs underneath the cross-braces so that an occupant may rest level on the bed fully under the cross-braces. The hammock is suspended between upright structures, such as trees or posts, using a special connection involving a cargo hook having a hook portion and a ring portion.
