Hammocks Patents (Class 5/120)
  • Patent number: 9526319
Abstract: The vehicle mounted hammock frame provides for a hammock to be suspended in the bed of a pickup truck approximately 6 feet above ground level. The hammock frame is intended to accommodate several sizes of hammocks including a family sized hammock, which affords comfortable lounging for two adults. The frame is simple to deploy by a single adult in minutes. It is anticipated that all parts may be attached to the unit so that pieces will not be lost or missing when it comes time to deploy the hammock frame. A storage case may be provided for ease of storage and transport. The hammock frame may have members added or attached to it in order that it can be deployed on the ground. Such members might include legs, bracing, and support members configured to allow a user to deploy the hammock frame on the ground.

  • Patent number: 8893328
Abstract: A sleeping bag (10) has a top layer (25) containing insulation and a bottom layer (30) containing insulation. An opening on the head end (15) and an opening on the foot end (20) are wide enough to accommodate a hammock (50). Preferably, these ends and/or the areas around the openings are reinforced. Flaps (310) reduce cold air entering via the openings. Tabs (45A-45D) stabilize the sleeping bag so that it does not slide along the hammock. The hammock is routed through the sleeping bag and connected so that the sleeping bag is suspended. The insulation on the bottom layer is below the hammock and so is not compressed by the weight of the user. This helps to preserve the insulating qualities of the sleeping bag, even when used with a hammock. The hammock rings are connected to available support objects, such as trees or posts.

  • Patent number: 7367068
Abstract: A hammock/hanging bed with a web stretched across a typically round support frame and supported via tension member lines/rods/material to one or more overhead points. The device is extremely stable and has excellent strength to weight ratio. The web can be drawn taut, without compromising stability or strength, providing the user with an effectively flat, comfortable area to sleep or relax. The invention allows freedom of motion, has aesthetic appeal (and thereby marketing value), is safer than prior art, and is suitable for either a single user or more than one person at a time. Means for disassembly of the hammock/bed into components via connectors such as hinges and/or joints are also comprised by the invention.

  • Patent number: 7234177
Abstract: A rocking machine automatically imparts a continuous, rocking motion to an occupant recumbent on a hammock. One end of the rocking machine is attached to a fixed location. The other end of the rocking machine is attached to a conventional hammock, which is attached to a second fixed location. The rocking machine has a container that houses a periodically reversing geared motor. Operation of the motor is controlled by an electrical circuit having a shaft attached to one end of a torsional spring. The other end of the torsional spring is connected to the hammock. A pressure sensitive switch becomes actuated and moves to a closed position, enabling supply of power to the geared motor that initiates a continuous rocking motion, when the hammock becomes occupied. The electrical circuit provides periodically reversing oscillations while monitoring current to the motor, and decreases the period between oscillations until it matches the natural period of oscillation of the spring-occupant weight system.

  • Patent number: 7178182
Abstract: The invention relates to a suspended sleeping bag comprising upper and lower parts and fixing elements which are arranged on the foot and head ends thereof, thereby making it is possible to fix at two points which are distant with respect to each other and embodied in the form of a rope, strap, ribbon, a cut fabric strip or a strip of another tensile strength material. The lower part, in contrast to the upper part, absorbs tensile forces in a longitudinal direction and leads them to the fixing points along the lines which radially converge in the area of an assembly point or fixing point, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7159254
Abstract: A motorized hammock swinging assembly automatically swings a hammock back and forth. A housing has a motor operationally connected with a crankshaft assembly. A cable is attached to a crankshaft of the crankshaft assembly and to the hammock such that when the motor is operation, the crankshaft rotates causing the cable to be pulled back and forth. The reciprocating cable causes the hammock to be swayed back and forth. The housing can be frame mounted such that the frame is secured to the ground at its point of operation, or the housing can be mounted to a structure such as a tree. The motor can be run by a battery located within the housing or by a source of AC electrical power, which source can be used to charge the battery or by a solar cell.
