The supplement mattress may have a main body having two lateral extensions, a footboard extension, a headboard extension, and a tubular structure. The inflatable bladder assembly is coupled to the foot panel and both the foot panel and inflatable bladder assembly are removable from the deck.

Abstract: A patient lifting apparatus is provided and which is operative to lift an injured person or patient from a lower area to an elevated position where the patient or injured person can be easily and safely transferred to a stretcher or other support device. The patient lifting apparatus includes a pair of side sections that are interconnectable. Each side section includes a lifting device and a lifting bar which is movable up and down. In a connected mode, the two side sections are connected together and the lifting bars include attachments for attaching to a patient support. Once attached to the patient support, the lifting bars via the lifting device are operative to lift the patient support upwardly generally between the two side sections where the patient can be transferred to a stretcher or other structure.

Abstract: A folding bed frame includes standardized right and left bed frame assemblies that are connectable by central connecting bars to form an adjustable bedboard frame that fits mattresses of differing widths. The bed frame is easy to transport when disassembled into the separate frame assemblies that are each less than half the width of a conventional frame for a double bed. The smaller and standardized frame assemblies reduce manufacturing cost. Foot brackets are pivotally connected to the bottom of the bedboard frame under each bed frame assembly and support the bedboard frame and mattress. Each central connecting bar has U-shaped slots on its ends that clip over the inner side edges of the right and left bed frame assemblies. In the preferred embodiment, an adjustable foot is connected to the distal end of each of the leg sections to provide adjustment for beds of different heights. Also, in the preferred embodiment, the L-shaped support members are connected together by bolts and wing nuts which extend through a plurality of apertures spaced along the length of the top section wherein the apertures align at pre-selected positions along the length of the L-shaped support members for inserting the fasteners.

Abstract: A sleeper sofa incorporating an air mattress including a telescoping mattress frame for supporting a mattress support subassembly consisting of hinge panels. The hinges used to connect the panels limit the angular range of motion of adjacent panels to plus or minus 90.degree. from a coplanar arrangement. The "panel" that defines the seating surface on which seat cushions rest when the sofa is in the seating position may be supported in the seating position by a pair of side rails that lack significant structure in the seating plane. This "panel" may also include a set of sinuous springs clad in padding similar to the seat-cushion support surface of a conventional non-sleeper sofa. The air mattress used in the sleeper sofa can be a multi-chamber design in which the outer edges of the mattress are inflated to a higher pressure to prevent the user from rolling off the edge of the mattress.

To accommodate large animals, extensions are fitted in the form of rigid panels having tongue and groove engagement with selected edge parts of the basic top. They can be clamped in position. The top is carried by folding legs enabling it to be lowered virtually to floor level and raised to operating height. The legs are in variable X-form with a scissor action, the top of one leg being hinged to the underside of the top and the top of the other leg having a sliding or rolling engagement. A retractable support structure can be telescoped from the sofa to form, in conjunction with the sofa, a bed that is longer than the depth of the sofa in its sitting position. The mattress in the sleeping position is folded in three portions, a fixed portion, a central portion and an outer portion. The outer portion forms a sofaback in the sitting position and the central portion folds to lie on top of the fixed portion to form the seat of the sofabed. A pillow folds in two to support the sofaback and the seat at their junction when the sofabed is closed in the sitting position, and unfolds to serve as a pillow for the bed when the sofabed is opened into the sleeping position.

Abstract: A bed extender device having a pair of opposed vertical leg members and a horizontal extender board affixed to the leg members and maintaining them in an opposed fixed relationship is positioned between and supported on conventional bed rails to provide added length to the conventional bed. The leg members are formed in a manner such that the extender board can be adjusted vertically on the rails.

Abstract: A new system of waterbed frame and component construction which enables pedestals, frames and padded caps to be put together to form any size waterbed. A pedestal is provided which is extendable by means of inserting extension pieces using special connecting joints in the front and back boards. The insertion of such extension pieces in the front and back boards converts a super single size waterbed pedestal to a Queen or King size bed. Similarly, specially designed padded caps and extension pieces makes the end rail padded cap adjustable to fit any size of waterbed. Furthermore, the same concept of extension pieces is used to form the frame as well. Thus, this new system of waterbed component construction reduces the cost and problems of shipping and inventory involved with prior waterbed frame construction.
