Lateral Sections Patents (Class 5/185)
  • Patent number: 4486908
Abstract: A power operated bed whereby the sides with mattress move from a normal position to a vertical position for supporting a person's spinal column simultaneously in two distinct planes relieving pressure on the occupant's spinal column. And a bed incorporating a headboard of independent turned spindles and adjustable straps to aid the occupant in shifting body position by the use of ones hands and arms and to further provide body anchors that allow stretch of occupant's spinal column. An arrangement allowing bed sheeting to remain firmly taut to the mattress independent of bed positioning.

  • Patent number: 4402097
Abstract: An expandable support frame for providing supportive confinement for variously sized flexible mattresses. The frame includes a support member suitable for being positioned on a supporting surface such as the floor. An expandable mattress housing is mounted on the top of the support member and includes interlocking segments which define a supportive base bound by four vertical sides for retaining the mattress. A housing expansion segment combines with the housing segments to expand the effective size of the housing for supporting various size mattresses.

  • Patent number: 4354287
Abstract: A bed frame having generally parallel side rails which can be laterally adjusted to fit standardized twin, full and queen size beds with each side rail including an inwardly extending end plate with each end plate being provided with an engager in the form of a hook plate having a pair of hooks along one vertical edge thereof for orientation in an upwardly opening position or a downwardly opening position to hook under the pins in the headboard to lift the headboard off the floor or to hook over the pins so that heavier headboards can rest on the floor. Each engager is provided with a vertical slot spaced from the hooks and the opposite vertical edge of the plate for receiving the end plate on the side rail to enable lateral adjustment of the engager in relation to the end plate and reversibility of the engager so that the hooks face upwardly or downwardly.

  • Patent number: 4271547
Abstract: An extender for a bed which has a boxspring, and mattress resting squarely on the boxspring, and a bed frame is provided. An elongated cushion provides an extended sleeping area adjacent a portion of the perimeter of the mattress. An elongated support which is substantially coextensive with the cushion and which may rest on the bed frame, supports the cushion adjacent the portion of the perimeter of the mattress such that extended sleeping area is provided by the cushion. The cushion and the support are connected so as to restrain relative movement therebetween. The extender also has a tongue which extends horizontally outward from the support, which is to be insertably received between the mattress and the boxspring. The opposed ends of the extender are curved so as to conform with the curved corners of the mattress and the boxspring and to allow a number of extenders to be used for providing extended sleeping area adjacent the end and sides of the mattress.

  • Patent number: 4019211
Abstract: A bedframe having side rails interconnected by end crossbars which are adjustable to provide a plurality of different standard bed widths, each of the crossbars being formed by at least two telescoped sections which are interconnected to provide a unitary crossbar assembly in which the component parts are mechanically retained against disassembly, and wherein the sections are arranged to be latched in selective bed width positions by means of a latch member movably supported on the outermost of the telescoped sections for movement between a raised non-latching position in which a projection on the latch member is freely movable along an adjacent side channel formed in the other of the telescoped members, and a latching position in which the projection is moved into one of a plurality of spaced apart slots in communication with the side channel.
