  • Patent number: 11554061
Abstract: There is described support structures for a bed, and various embodiments of a bed for use in a hospital. In an example, a support structure comprises a plurality of sections, each configured to support a respective part of a body, and a plurality of resilient members that extend in a longitudinal direction from an upper end of the support structure to a lower end of the support structure, wherein a shape and/or profile of the support structure is determined by a shape and/or profile of the resilient members.

  • Patent number: 10548409
Abstract: An insert adapted to be inserted between a foundation of a bed and a mattress of the bed. The insert includes a frame having a first side rail and a second side rail spaced apart from the first side rail. A plurality of elongate upper slats extend between the first side rail and the second side rail of the frame at a first level with respect to the frame and are spaced apart from one another. A plurality of elongate lower slats extend between the first side rail and the second side rail of the frame at a second level located below the first level of the upper slats. Each lower slat is located below a gap formed between a pair of adjacent upper slats. A mounting member resiliently supports the ends of two adjacent upper slats and rigidly supports the end of a lower slat that is located below the gap formed between the two adjacent upper slats, whereby the firmness of a mattress overlying the insert can be selectively adjusted.

  • Patent number: 8728293
Abstract: A method of immersing an electrode in an electroplating solution while under vacuum, to substantially eliminate air and/or other gas from microscopic holes, cavities or indentations in the electrode. A method of electroplating an electrode in an electroplating solution including the application of a vacuum to the electrode while it is immersed in the electroplating solution to thereby substantially eliminate air and/or other gas from microscopic holes, cavities or indentations in the electrode. The electroplating liquid may be applied to only one side of the electrode (“the wet side”) in which case, sufficient time is allowed to pass for the immersion liquid to fill the microscopic through-holes, cavities or indentations in the electrode. An enhancement of this mode is to force liquid through the microscopic holes from the wet side. A highly penetrating solvent may be used as an immersion liquid.

  • Patent number: 6793289
Abstract: A seat back or a seat base of an automobile seat with a frame includes a spring system extending between two opposing cross braces consisting of meander-shaped shaped spring wires and upholstery in a seat surface. The level determined by the supporting surface of the shaped wire springs may be so changed by tension belts passing through the shaped wire springs at different tensions that it is more strongly arched when the belts are in relaxed condition than when they are tightened.

  • Patent number: 6584627
Abstract: A webbed frame includes a plurality of first and second straps mounted on a frame body to form a net. Each of the first and second straps has two opposite end sections trained on the frame body. A plurality of spaced apart retainers are fixed on the frame body. Each of several adjuster units includes a connector mounted slidably on a respective one of the retainers and connected to a respective one of the first and second straps. An adjusting bolt threadedly engages and extends through the connector, and has an abutting end that abuts against the frame body such that rotation of the adjusting bolt results in concurrent movement of the connector and the respective one of the first and second straps so as to adjust tension of the net on the frame body.

  • Patent number: 4899403
Abstract: A bed base having first and second members which are of generally U-shaped configuration so as to slidably telescope together to permit expansion or contraction of the bed base in the lengthwise direction. Locking mechanisms coact between the telescoping legs to lock the bed base in the selected expanded or contracted position. A sheetlike cover is anchored at one end of the bed base and extends along the upper surface thereof towards the other end, at which point an intermediate part of the cover wraps downwardly around a guide drum and then projects reversely toward the other end of the bed base. The lower free end edge of the cover is connected to a compensating mechanism which adjusts the cover length, namely by moving the cover upwardly or downwardly around the guide drum, so that the upper section of the cover always stretches tautly across the upper surface of the bed base irrespective of the adjusted expanded or contracted position.

  • Patent number: 4459713
Abstract: A chaise lounge includes an adjustable strap extending lengthwise for varying the support provided to a user or users of the chaise lounge. The chaise lounge is sufficiently wide to accommodate two adults either sitting or lying side by side. Diagonal side-braces are used for providing sufficient structural strength to support the two adults and maintain the frame against the tension of the support strap.

  • Patent number: 3968528
Abstract: A bedstead is disclosed including crossheads between which a woven mat support is stretched. The mat is made of spring steel wire, preferably plastic coated and includes longitudinal wire members having U-shaped ends. Hook rails are carried by the crossheads and have adjacent recesses between which they define V-shaped hook members. One of the hook rails is adjustable so as to tension the mat support. A U-shaped clamping bar is provided into which the U-shaped ends of the longitudinal wire members are fitted. A resilient intermediate layer is positioned between the clamping bar and the U-shaped ends of the longitudinal wire members. The clamping bar is positioned in the V-shaped hook members of the adjustable hook rail such that a clamping force is exerted on the U-shaped ends of the longitudinal wire members by the clamping bar in proportion to tension force applied to the mat support by the adjustable hook rail.
