Variable Width Or Length Patents (Class 5/251)
  • Patent number: 10512340
Abstract: A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of springs held together with tabs. Longitudinal seams joining overlapping tabs extend generally the same direction as the strings of springs. Pockets are formed along a string of springs by aligned separating seams. At least one spring is positioned in each pocket. Each separating seam joins opposed plies of the string and keeps the spring in its pocket. Ends of aligned separating seams are spaced from each other, thereby improving airflow between pockets.

  • Patent number: 8635727
Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable-size bed (10) comprising a mattress core (16) and a base (14), which base is adapted to support at least a portion of the mattress core, wherein the mattress core and base have adjustable widths or lengths and each of the mattress core and base is changeable between an expanded state and a contracted state corresponding to an expanded state and a contracted state of the bed, respectively, and wherein the bed further comprises a cover means adapted to provide covering over the mattress core in both the expanded state and the contracted state of the bed. The present invention also relates to a vehicle comprising such a variable-size bed.

  • Patent number: 7814594
Abstract: A one-sided mattress construction includes a spring assembly with asymmetric spring coils. Only the bottom portion of each spring coil is attached, either to adjacent spring coils or to a bottom surface of the mattress. The top portion of each spring may have a narrowing taper that permits the top to move independent of other adjacent springs.

  • Patent number: 5471688
Abstract: A modular innerspring and box spring assembly which can be put together by the end use customer from innerspring and box spring modules. An innerspring module consists of a plurality of coil springs joined together by helical wire fasteners in a generally rectangular configuration having dimensions which when assembled with other like modules in side-by-side and end-to-end relationship make up a completed modular innerspring assembly of the size and shape needed to make a twin, twin extra long, full, full extra long, queen and king size mattress. A top boundary wire assembly extends around the top peripheral edge of the completed modular innerspring assembly and a bottom boundary wire assembly extends around the bottom peripheral edge, in each case secured to adjacent coil springs by a double hook clip.

  • Patent number: 4195376
Abstract: A spring and frame assembly, particularly for box springs for beds of extended length, consisting of a plurality of main springs arranged criss-cross fashion on a rectangular supporting frame to form a load supporting deck having a regular array of rectangular spaces, and internal support springs mounted on the frame extending diagonally across associated rectangular spaces and secured to the main springs. Each internal support spring has a main body portion and depending end portions which resiliently support the main body portion in spaced relation above the frame. Selected ones of the internal support springs have longer main body portions than the remaining internal support springs and are arranged adjacent the opposite ends of the box spring assembly to provide the ends of the box spring assembly with additional resistance to downward loads.
