A scissor-lift assembly is provided to raise and lower the examination table. The examination table includes a drawer having a pivotal front panel which is adapted to support instruments or other items thereon when the drawer is folded to a downward position. The examination table further includes a storage pocket located beneath the backrest. The storage pocket and its contents are concealed when the backrest is lowered and are accessible when the backrest is inclined.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for sleeping or relaxing employing a hollow foundation interposed between a bedframe and a mattress, with the foundation adapted for the storage of objects by including at least one storage drawer that extends from a frame of the foundation to its interior, the frame having opposed elongated sides and the storage drawer extends into the foundation from one of its elongated sides and from the opposite one of the elongated sides so that a plurality of storage drawers can occupy substantially the entire interior of the foundation.

Abstract: Modular airplane shaped bedroom furniture provides a line of bedroom furniture for children that is in the general shape of an airplane. The body of the airplane incorporates a standard twin size mattress. The nose of the modular airplane shaped bedroom furniture incorporates a clothes hamper and wastebasket, while the top of the nose section provides a desk. The single center-mounted propeller is fixed in place so that it cannot turn and provides hanging hooks for clothes, book bags and the like. The wing section on one side of the modular airplane shaped bedroom furniture is a toy box, while the wing on the other side provides six drawers for storage. Under-bed storage provides room for more drawers or an additional roll away bed for use by another child. The tail section can be used as a bookshelf or for storage of shoes. Finally, the cockpit area can be used for storage of a radio, CD player, small television or the like.

Abstract: A bedding assembly is provided having an integrated storage area. The assembly has one or more platforms having a recessed storage area and a deck pivotably mounted to the platform. The deck may be pivoted over the platform between a horizontal position where a use can lie upon the deck, such as for sleeping, and a non-horizontal position to allow access to the storage area of the platform. The platforms may be coupled together at a distance from one another by a pair of end frames. Optionally, garment hooks may be rotatably mounted onto the bed assembly and rotatable between a use position, for hanging items thereon, and a stowage position.

Abstract: The invention is a foundation for a bed, either a box spring or a box foundation, with built-in drawers. The invention solves the problem of providing drawer storage space in a bed utilizing a mattress and foundation combination. Drawers are known to be placed under certain platform beds, however these beds do not readily accommodate a mattress with foundation, because such a combination places the mattress too high off of the floor for convenient use as a bed.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses various sport-shaped bed designs consisting of a frame 26, mattress 14, motion sensors 32, rechargeable battery cell 36 and dimmer night light 42. The designs have shapes such as a football, baseball, soccer, basketball, and other sport shapes. The bed also comprises storage drawers 28 located in various positions according to the design. Each bed contains battery-operated motion sensors 32 which trigger a night dimmer light 42. When the sensor 32 indicates a child has laid down in the bed, the dimmer 42 responds to the signal and the light 18 goes on. Within a short period of time, the light slowly dims until it is fully out. If the child 12 should sit up, the sensor 32 will react and the light 18 will go on. The mattress 14 fits down inside a recess 16 in the frame 26 and the headboard 20.

Abstract: A space-conscious, functional design for a loft bed. The design serves to optimize space by incorporating multi-functional features, such as drawers, closet space, or cabinet space, within the assembly for the bed itself. Specifically, a plurality of steps are substantially parallel to the length of the bed, and lead upwardly toward the foot of the bed for easy access to same. Such steps incorporate the aforementioned storage space, with access to the drawers or closets from a side position. As such, the unique assembly allows for a desk, computer work station, bar, or additional wide storage space below the bed and behind the steps, adding to the overall versatility of the assembly. Finally, in the preferred mode the unit is modular in nature and may be assembled and rearranged based upon user preference.

Each stock keeping unit includes faced box spring supporting paired face frame-less cabinets which are conveniently shipped stacked one upon another and are placed back to back when assembled for underlying box spring support. Each face frame-less cabinet includes two floor-contacting members, two box spring contacting members, and three vertical members including a head vertical member, a foot vertical member, and an intermediate vertical member. Conventional drawers on side mounted drawer roller bearing and slide guides to expose a finished drawer front without hardware for opening and closing.

The safe includes an internal storage cavity bounded by interior walls a lower floor. The safe includes side wall openings through at least one of the exterior side walls and through respective interior walls, into which one or more drawers can be inserted into the storage cavity. Each drawer is lockable and concealed from view when inserted into the safe in a concealed position, and each drawer is extendable outwards from the storage cavity into an exposed position.

Abstract: A hingeable inner spring mattress adapted for the marine environment comprises a pair of inner spring base sections with each base section having a top and bottom surfaces and a peripheral side wall. The peripheral side walls of the base sections define corresponding hingeable side walls. A fabric shell encloses the bottoms and side walls of the base sections and forms a hinge along a hinge axis between the hingeable side walls and adjacent the top surfaces of the base sections so that one base section may be pivoted from a normal position wherein the top surfaces of the base sections are coplanar to a retracted position to provide access to an area below the pivoted base section. A hinge line cover sheet of nonstretchable fabric is secured at both ends to the top surfaces of the base sections with a central segment thereof which extends over the hinge axis in tension when the base sections are coplanar. A cover in the form of a quilted fabric, pillow top, etc.

Abstract: Two enclosure are secured together to provide a safe the size and shape of a box spring for supporting a mattress. Wheels and handles are provided for transport. Fasteners for the enclosure, wheels, and handles are accessible only from the interior of the enclosures to inhibit unauthorized movement of the safe.

Abstract: A sleeping unit for furnishing a standardized room having two dresser units thereunder is disclosed. Each dresser unit comprises a rectangular box-like frame constructed of 1.times.1 aluminum tubing and welded joints. The frame has a base which is constructed of 1.times.2 aluminum tubing and welded joints connected to the 1.times.1 tubing. The tubing has flanges thereon for the attachment of two panels which are inserted into the frame to form outer surfaces thereon, and each panel has a durable coating thereon. Each dresser unit also comprises a pair of inner frames with drawer slides thereon, wherein the inner frames are attached inside and thereto the box-like frame, and a rear inner frame having two openings therein defining two slots. Each slide has a single screw secured onto a front end thereof. A rear of each slide rests in a respective slot of the rear inner frame whereby each slide is easily removable for repair by removing the screw on the front of the slide.

Abstract: A multi-use children's play set in the form of a simulated vehicle having an elongated, hollow body with front and rear ends and a pair of sides. One side is designed so as to have a plurality of openings with drawers slidably held therein. One of the drawers holds a futon, and a door is provided in the one side to allow a child to enter and exit from a seating area in the interior of the vehicle. A desk and seat for play or writing is provided at one end, while the front end is hollow and may be used for storage or to hold a further futon or mattress. One or more doors may be provided in the hollow front end of the vehicle to allow access into and out of the hollow interior thereof.

Abstract: Modular children's furniture with components including a planar panel that can serve as a base and/or a top, a stackable cube, a stackable rectangular cubicle, a drawer component, a shelf, and a playpen. The planar panel with rubber caster wheels is a base upon which the modular components are stacked. The planar panel without caster wheels is a counter-top and caps the modular components. Each cube and cubicle has a hingedly connected panel that functions as a door or lid. Also included are a stackable drawer component and a shelf component. The playpen includes two side panels that are made of a plastic coated wire mesh. The playpen also has two solid side panels that can be attached to a standard bedframe and thus serve as a headboard.

This earthquake-proof bed includes box-shaped metallic panels. Each panel is shaped with a plurality of frames and a pair of metal plates fixed on both sides of the frames. A plurality of tool boxes is installed on the bottom metallic panel. The plurality of tool boxes is formed by dividing plates. A plurality of lids covers the tool boxes, and an opening is shaped on any one of the metal panels. Bedding is provided on the lids.

Abstract: The present invention is a bed comprising a mattress which, in the event of an earthquake, is mechanically lowered into its rectangular frame. The movement caused by the earthquake further causes an attached, large, rectangular cover to mechanically collapse onto the top of the rectangular frame, thereby protecting the occupant or occupants of the bed. The bed and cover contain additional springs and supports, respectively, which enable the present invention to withhold the weight of accumulated and falling debris. Once an occupant is safely within the collapsed bed, means are provided within the bed to sustain the life of the occupant until outside assistance is received. When the cover of the bed is in its uncollapsed position, it unobtrusively lies against a wall of a bedroom acting as a vertical extension of the headboard and further containing useable and decorative shelves and/or cabinets.

Abstract: A convertible bed-chair assembly comprises first and second solid assembly members which fit together in two different configurations. Corresponding planar surfaces of the members each include a cavity therein which is formed by an internal wall of the corresponding member and is unbounded at a first sidewall of the member. The assembly members each further include one or more recesses in a side wall thereof opposite the first sidewall. A pair of simple latches connect the members together in first, bed configuration wherein the first sidewalls of the members are in abutment and the cavities cooperate to form a concavity for receiving a futon or mattress. A further pair of simple latches connect the members together in a second, chair configuration wherein the first planar surfaces are in abutment and the first and second cavities form an internal storage space, and the recesses of the members are aligned to form a seat or seats.

A drawer fits within the cavity and comprises a generally horizontal floor and a pair of generally upright side walls of a predetermined thickness integrally formed with the floor. Each of the side walls comprises an upright portion extending upwardly a predetermined height from the floor, a ramped portion having a predetermined width and slope angle formed integrally with the upright portion and sloping upwardly and inwardly therefrom, a recessed portion attached above and formed integrally with the ramped portion, and an outwardly-projecting lip attached above and formed integrally with the recessed portion. The recessed portion extends the horizontal length of the side wall. The lip has a free end projecting outwardly from its corresponding upright wall portion.

Abstract: A device for attachment to a bed frame for the receipt of articles therein having a receptacle with a closed end and an open end, a door fastened to said open end, a lock attached to the door so as to fix a position of the door with respect to the receptacle, a clamp attached to a forward end of the receptacle so as to affix the receptacle to the bed frame, and a support connected to a back end of the receptacle so as to support the receptacle above a surface. The clamp is a mounting bracket affixed by a bolt to the receptacle. An area between the receptacle and the mounting bracket engages corresponding surfaces of the bed frame. The receptacle has a top surface, a base, a pair of sides, and a pair of ends extending upwardly relative to the base. The support is an extendible leg fastened to a rear end of the receptacle so as to support the receptacle in a generally level condition.

Abstract: A strong, lightweight, one-piece rotation molded children's cot having a base, four side walls, and a cot surface. The cot surface contains grooves which serve to collect liquid waste from a child's bed-wetting accident, so as to sanitarily separate the child from the waste. The cot also is provided with a storage compartment as well as hand grips for easy moving and cleaning. The cots may be stacked for storage.

Abstract: The disclosed invention is to a bed frame assembly which is of an adjustable width to support various sizes of mattresses and springs. In general the assembly comprises two rectangular frame units positioned in spaced apart side by side relationship and held a predetermined distance apart by an adjustable spacer member or members. Storage drawers and a storage compartment are a part of the frame assembly.

Abstract: A security box or a container assembly designed to be secured to the undersurface of a table, counter, bed frame, or like structure so as to extend beneath the undersurface in a substantially out-of-sight location and specifically adapted to hold a handgun or other applicable weapon, valuables or medication in a readily accessible location for easy removal once a cover of the container is opened. To mount the container under a bed, a mounting structure is removably attached to the bed frame so as to support the container in the preferred out-of-sight location beneath the bed in a somewhat cantilevered fashion. Mounting to other surfaces, such as under a table or counter top can be achieved by securing the top of the container to the mounting surface in such a manner as to be out of the general line of sight.

Modifications of the invention includes heated support cavities mounted within the cylindrical cavities for support of infant food and fluid nursing bottle members.

A boss prevents the drawer from being completely pulled out of the support structure.

Abstract: A crib structure for a child includes a support surface for the child. A plurality of side walls are operatively connected to the support surface. At least one of the side walls includes a door opening and at least one door. The door is laterally slidable substantially in the direction to and from an adjacent side wall, such that the child can be quietly and easily placed into and taken the crib through the door opening without substantial bending or reaching. The sidewalls and the support surface define an interior space therebetween and an exterior space surrounding the sidewalls. At least one of the side walls is preferably composed of a material which is substantially flexible to forces directed substantially from the interior, and substantially rigid to forces directed substantially from the exterior. Step structure is preferably provided beneath the support surface.

Abstract: An adjustable mattress foundation for beds, having head, and foot sections of adjustable inclination, and a stationary center section for supporting the user's buttocks, with locking gas springs being employed as force providers and counterbalances in selectively adjusting the angle of inclination for the head and foot sections, with the actuation of the head and foot sections being effected by the pivoting a single control rod. Changes can be made in the torque application of the device on the foundation head and foot sections for different weights and stiffnesses of mattress by a simple adjustment. The width of the stationary section has a minimum width requirement in order to minimize the force required to make changes in inclination in the head and foot sections with respect thereto, and have minimum stress exerted on the mattress.

Abstract: A waterbed support comprising a box-like frame including vertical spaced end walls and side walls secured at their respective ends and forming a continuous rectangular frame open at top and bottom, a plurality of solid parallel spaced partitions similar to the end walls and individually connecting the side walls and forming a plurality of drawer compartments in the open frame, and brackets for positioning and supporting the waterbed, there being one bracket secured on each partition and end wall, each bracket having a flat section secured on top of a partition or end wall and extending outwardly of the frame, overlapping the same, an upwardly directed stop at the outboard end of each section, and a downwardly directed stop on each section between the ends thereof so that the two stops on each bracket are spaced apart, the downwardly directed stops abutting the adjacent side wall of the frame and the upwardly directed stops of the brackets being aligned in a row outwardly of the side wall.

Recessed drawer housing 12 is constructed of top plate 19, side panels 20 and 21, back panel 23 and bottom panel 24. Holster post 15 is attached to and extends upwardly from bedside bracket 16 and is adapted to hold a holstered gun 6 in a ready position at bedside.

Abstract: A waterbed pedestal for supporting a waterbed frame and mattress on its top surface, the pedestal of the type comprising a plurality of panels assembled to form head, foot, and left and right side faces. The pedestal includes a cavity that is positioned to extend underneath a waterbed mattress so that the mattress covers the top of the cavity, and that opens at its front in one of the faces of the pedestal. A safe is positioned in the cavity and secured to the pedestal. A removable panel is positioned over the front of the cavity to close the cavity and hide the safe.

Abstract: A hospital bed has a table which moves on a slide rail along the length of the bed. The movement of the table is controlled by a motorized lead screw. The table is mounted on a pivotal support so that when not in use, it may be folded into a storage position. The hospital bed is also provided with a motorized storage drawer and a motorized sanitary unit mounted on the bed frame, beneath the mattress. A remote control unit at the headboard of the bed controls the operation of the drawer, a lamp, the sanitary unit and the table.

Abstract: The invention is a self contained infant restraining device (10) used for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or other emergency treatment on a patient up to 2 years old. The device (10) has 2 sections (12 and 14) which are normally attached together by use of latches (16). Top section (12) is used to carry and restrain the infant's body. Bottom section (14) contains 2 drawers (52) which are used to carry drugs, medical supplies and instruments for treatment of the infant patient. The top section (12) may be quickly released from bottom section (14) if the user wants to make top section (12) lighter and more portable. The infant's body is placed in indentation (36) of the top surface (28) and securely restrained by a plurality of straps (44) using hook and pile fasteners (46). The infant's head is restrained in head indentation (26) which is equipped with two small sand bag pillows (32) attached to indentation (26) by hook and pile fasterners (33) and (34).

Abstract: A modular sleeping unit having individual, stackable, unitary berths providing increased comfort for crew members. The berths are constructed from reinforced plastics or other materials and are dimensioned to fit through typical ship access openings. The berths can be provided with drawer units or integral storage lockers. Lighting and ventilation can be controlled from each berth.

Abstract: A universal sleep system support which is readily collapsible for storage and transportation, and is easily assembled into a construction which can support any type and common size of sleep system. This universal sleep system support comprises a plurality of modules which when assembled are selectively locked together into a unitary construction. The modules each include readily assembled corner pieces and channel units. The corner pieces respectively have a planar surface and a leg structure extending substantially perpendicularly therefrom; and the channel units respectively have mating members slideably associated with one another for adjusting the length of the channel units. The channel units are selectively received by the corner pieces and adjusted to a preselected length to set the distance between such corner pieces. The assembled modules are selectively locked together into the unitary construction so that the channel units can support any type of sleep system of any common size.

Abstract: A pedestal for a floatation sleep surface, such pedestal being collapsable into a compact arrangement for convenient storage and ready transportation in a manually manipulable container. The pedestal comprises a plurality of generally rectangular members, a plurality of support legs, and connectors, all adapted to be stored in a manually transportable container. The members include locators at preselected positions for locating support legs. When the support legs are attached to the locators of the rectangular members, the rectangular members are interconnected by the connectors to form a unitary pedestal arrangement of a size sufficient to support a particular size floatation sleep surface.

Abstract: A portable drawer assembly for use with a four legged chair or the like having a space between the legs. The assembly comprises an enclosure having a top cover, both of which have a width which is selectively adjustable to effect the positioning thereof in the space between the four legs. The cover and enclosure can be mounted on the four legs so the drawer can be slid into and out of the space between the four legs or alternatively, it can be supported on legs pivotably mounted on the enclosure.
