The seat substructure is arranged on a vehicle floor and the seat surface supporting structure fastens a seat surface element of the seat arrangement thereto. The seat surface supporting structure is movable on the seat substructure and/or on the attachment structure. The backrest supporting structure fastens a backrest element of the seat arrangement thereto. The backrest supporting structure is pivotably movable on the seat substructure. The backrest supporting structure is pivotable out of a first use position of the seat frame into a second use position of the seat frame. In the second use position, the backrest supporting structure acts on the seat surface supporting structure and forces the seat surface supporting structure out of the first use position into the second use position.

Abstract: An articulated sofa bed has a compact profile while folded with the seat cushions residing at a comfortable and ergonomic height and an esthetically pleasing streamlined appearance. The sofa bed takes advantage of a deployment assembly having a support frame with swinging rear arms that, when the bed is folded, occupy a small volume within the back of the sofa. The sofa bed also takes advantage of a leg assembly that is anchored within the thickness of the bed panels so as to stack the foot and middle panels closer to each other. The deployment assembly also cooperates to position the middle and foot panels of the bed in a folded position at a low height above the floor and below the seat cushions, respectively.

Abstract: Sofabed with innovative position adjustment mechanism and a fast assembly process, comprising padding elements, a base structure (1) a plurality of mutually hinged frames (2) supported by said base structure and supporting said padding elements, and a kinematic mechanism (3) to change the frames positions; moreover, the base structure comprises two identical elements, named “small legs” (4), a spacer (5), and is characterised by a “hinge” plate (6) consisting of two flat surfaces, fixed on the small leg (4), which consists of two flat surfaces with an almost rectangular hole (7); said hole is tapered on one side (8) to lodge the spacer (5). Particularly, it refers to a novel folding mechanism for a bed-sofa, characterized by comprising a two portions structure both corresponding to a seat and a back or to form a flat surface for a bed, comprising such mechanism elongated platens, sliding and fixing plates, folding hinges and a pair of frames or structures corresponding to each one of said portions.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a futon frame having a seat and a backrest, two arms and two legs. The six parts can be assembled by the user without the use of tools or small parts, this being a major distinguishing feature of the invention. Parts are held securely in place through the use of sockets into which are inserted corresponding parts of the arms legs and backrest. The backrest is maintained in a couch position by chains which extend from the arms to the backrest and which can be disconnected in order to allow the backrest to be lowered so that the futon frame forms a bed, these chains also allow for the adjustment of the backrest's angle of inclination. This is done by modification of the distance between the armrests and backrest through selection and placement on the backrest of various individual links of the chain.

Abstract: An article of furniture is provided which can be transformed easily from a bed to a futon or a chaise lounge. The article of furniture is formed of a stationary, generally U-shaped upright support having a head frame with opposing ends from which side frames extend in mutual parallel alignment. A base frame assembly is mounted upon wheels or other roller elements and is comprised of a plurality or articulated frames, including a seat bench frame located remote from the head frame of the stationary support, and at least an intermediate seat back frame hinged to the bench frame. Preferably, a proximal back frame is also provided which includes within its structure a backrest that may be raised or lowered when the unit is used as a chaise lounge. The article of furniture is provided with rollers on each side of the stationary support near the distal extremities thereof. Cam latches are provided on opposing sides of the seat frame in longitudinal alignment with the rollers.

Abstract: An improved sofa bed structure if provided which comprises a base frame, a back support frame and a rear back support frame that are sequentially assembled using pin connections to form an integral bedstead. Each frame is equipped with a net frame to form a bed board structure. The whole bedstead is fastened by the interlocking of a base frame to a fixed base. The bedstead functions as a fully opened bed board structure or a folded sofa structure. When the whole structure is folded as a sofa, the fixed foot bars of the rear back support frame are received in saddles of the fixed base. The end portion of the rear back support frame and foot portions of the fixed base are fully in contact with one another to achieve a transversal interlock effect and to strengthen the structural stability of the whole sofa base.

A trifold configuration and two bifold configurations are disclosed. A four-bar linkage is disclosed to provide added stability. As part of the four-bar linkage, a leg is hingedly attached to the back rest frame. A linkage interconnects the leg and the seat frame such that the leg retracts proximate the frame when the article furniture is in a seat position and extends away from the frame when said article of furniture is in an extended horizontal position. A release mechanism is also disclosed which is hingedly attached to the seat frame for assisting opening and closing the seat frame when the article of furniture is being placed in a seat position.

The frame includes at least two sections pivotally connected together by hinge members and being movable relative to each other to permit the frame to be moved between the first and second orientations. The two frame sections are held in a first orientation by a locking mechanism which releasably locks the two sections in place. The frame further includes a self-actuating swing arm assembly to act as a support member when the frame is in a second (bed) and third (reclining couch) orientation.

Abstract: A three piece sofa bed recliner has an end frame, seat frame and back frame. The frame ends are linked overlapped. Interengaging the seat frame with the back frame enables a simple conversion process from sofa bed to recliner. The back frame and end frames fold toward each other as the interlocked seat frame is moved backward. The end frame and back frame interlock with the end frame leg and the seat frame and back frame interlock releases during conversion. Reconversion is a simple forward pull unfolding the respective frames on their legs with an extending pivoted leg set between the end frame and back frame. Wheels facilitate movements. A single seat has first and second panels (12,14) for the seat back and seat bottom mounted on a seat base (10) and a third panel (16) pivotally coupled with the seat back. A conversion mechanism (18) includes a quadrant plate (80) which is pivotally supported on the base (10). The lower part of the seat back is rigidly connected (84,86) with the quadrant plate (80) and the rear edge of the seat bottom is pivotally coupled (124) with the quadrant plate so that the three panels can be unfolded from the seat orientation to a bed orientation. A first set of latches (A, B, D) holds the conversion mechanism (18) in the seat orientation and are released sequentially by moving an operating handle (22) in one direction. This same motion of the operating handle (22) causes an actuating means (172,170) to thrust the third panel (16) rearwardly toward the bed orientation as the first and second panels (12,14) are unfolded.

Abstract: A latch mechanism (24) disclosed secures a vehicle seat (10) in a seating position and is selectively releasable to permit movement of cushion, back, and auxliary components (14, 16, 18) on a support linkage (20) to a bed position. The latch mechanism includes a first latch (26) having a latched position for securing the cushion and back components (14, 16) in the seating position. A second latch (28) of the mechanism has a latched position for securing the auxiliary component (18) in a vertical seating position at the rear of the back component. A pair of the first latches are preferably provided at opposite lateral sides of the seat with the second latch therebetween and are releasable in coordination therewith by an actuator (30) of the mechanism to permit unlatching that allows the seat movement to the bed position. A laterally extending connector shaft (96) of the actuator coordinates the releasing of the latches and is pivotally moved by a pedal-actuated member through a pair of cams.
