Abstract: Described are extended display devices for a passenger compartment including a first display device and a second display device, the first display device positioned in an outer frame to face a passenger seat and the a second display connected with and positioned laterally relative to the first display, wherein the first and second displays are configured to simultaneously display information from two different sources. One or both display devices can be attached modularly within a void through the outer frame and within an insert that matches the inner boundary of the outer frame and matches the exterior boundary of the display device.

Abstract: A convertible sofa bed system positionable on a floor. The convertible sofa bed system includes a back support assembly having a frame, and a back cushion assembly connected with the back support assembly and movable between a raised condition and a lowered condition thereof. The system also includes one or more body modules secured to the frame. The body module includes an at least partially planar top surface positionable at a predetermined elevation above the floor. The body module is formed to cooperate with the back cushion assembly in the raised condition to define a seating configuration, and to cooperate with the back cushion assembly in the lowered condition to define a sleeping configuration.

Abstract: A convertible seat assembly comprises a seat sub-assembly rotatably coupled to a substantially flat base member. The seat sub-assembly comprises a back member having a substantially flat first side and second side with a seat member coupled to the second side. The seat sub-assembly is rotatable between a sleeping configuration and a seating configuration. In the sleeping configuration, the substantially flat first side of the back member and the substantially flat base member form a substantially flat horizontal sleeping surface for at least one person. In the seating configuration, the seat member is deployed as a seating region for at least one person.

Abstract: A furniture item includes a body including first side plates in a first direction, a second side plate on a first side in a second direction, and a horizontal stand that forms a horizontal surface extending from the second side plate; a floor plate part that is enabled to slide between a first position and a second position that is on the second side relative to the first position; a mattress part that is enabled to be placed on the floor plate part; and a cushion element that is enabled to be placed on the mattress part. An upper side surface of the mattress part extends at a height lower than a lower end of the horizontal stand, and a space is formed under a horizontal surface of the horizontal stand in a state in which the floor plate part is at the second position.

Abstract: An internal spring system resiliently supports a mattress in an item of furniture. The spring system includes a system of sinuous springs arranged between upper and lower wire grids. A movable extender assembly is mounted on the grids to accommodate a longitudinal shift between the upper and lower grids during folding of the spring system between open and closed positions.

Abstract: A seat convertible to a bed. The seat includes a locking mechanism for fixably maintaining a head panel section of the bed in a generally horizontal orientation when the bed is in the deployed configuration and releasing the head panel section from the deployed configuration by a lifting motion. The locking mechanism is connected to the head panel section and a mid-swinging member. The mid-swinging member pivotally attaches to the head panel section and a stationary mounting arm. The stationary mounting arm is fixably attached to a seat frame.

Abstract: A hospital bed provides improved handling of non-ambulatory patients and others who cannot easily be moved, such as to a hospital room toilet. The hospital bed includes a flexible mattress and a belt attached to the flexible mattress ends. The hospital bed frame has a pallet for supporting the flexible mattress and a chute attached to the frame beneath the pallet that receives the end of the flexible mattress. Multiple rollers direct the flexible mattress and belt. A motor supplies rotational force to one of the rollers and one of the rollers also provides for bending the flexible mattress to enter the chute, so that the end of the flexible mattress is guided underneath the pallet. A system includes the hospital bed with a detachable sanitary station. The sanitary station includes a toilet top and unites with the bed to deliver the patient to a position atop the toilet.

Abstract: A seat convertible to a bed. The seat includes a locking mechanism for fixably maintaining a head panel section of the bed in a generally horizontal orientation when the bed is in the deployed configuration and releasing the head panel section from the deployed configuration by a lifting motion. The locking mechanism is connected to the head panel section and a mid-swinging member. The mid-swinging member pivotally attaches to the head panel section and a stationary mounting arm. The stationary mounting arm is fixably attached to a seat frame.

Abstract: A sofa (10) includes a sofa base (13) and an addition (14) coupled to the sofa base. The sofa base has a seating area (18) between two end armrests (19) which includes spacing for back cushions (20), seat cushions (21), and an empty seating space (22). The addition has an L-shaped addition base (24) and a U-shaped addition cushion (25). The addition base has an inside corner (28) configured to nest the front corner of the sofa base. The U-shaped addition cushion is positioned upon the L-shaped addition base and a portion of the base seating area which could be occupied by a seat seating space. Thus, the addition cushion completely covers the addition base and the empty seating space or portion of the seating area directly adjacent the armrest which is surrounded by the addition cushion on three sides.

Abstract: A convertible stand for concealing an inflatable mattress that converts into a headboard when the inflatable mattress is inflated. The convertible stand has a compartment. A pliable material is connected to the inflatable mattress. A portion of the pliable material extends beyond an end of the inflatable mattress and is connected to an inner wall surface of the compartment. A barrier is connected to the convertible stand. When the barrier is oriented in an upper position the compartment is open and the inflatable mattress can be inflated. When the barrier is oriented in a lower position the compartment is closed and both the deflated inflatable mattress and pliable material are retained within the compartment of the convertible stand.

The webbing assembly has a rectangular frame with elongate members and shorter members and a central girder with a cutout extending between mid-portions of the elongate members. The central girder attachable to the seat box and a central vertical frame member of the back frame assembly. The elongate members having stub portions that fit into slots in the main seat box. A method of repair includes replacing a damaged drop-in assembly with a different drop-in assembly.

Abstract: A sofa configured to be converted into various positions, including a sofa, lounge, bed and chaise position. The sofa includes a seat deck and a backrest. Further, the sofa includes a first type of click-clack mechanisms placed between the seat deck and backrest which are used to convert the sofa to the lounge or bed position. Also, the sofa includes a second type of click-clack mechanisms placed throughout the seat deck and backrest. These are used to convert the sofa to one of two possible chaise positions. In the recumbent configuration, the planes to lie down on of the two first seats are at different heights.

Abstract: A foldable sofa mattress and method for storing within low profile furniture. The mattress includes a transition section disposed between different collapsible sinuous spring sections. The sinuous spring sections are pivotably joined to the transition section and the sections are affixed to upper and lower grids for support. A method for storing a foldable mattress includes the steps of providing a mattress with a transition section disposed between two collapsible sections, extending opposing pairs of straps from the transition section to each of the separate collapsible sections, and bending the mattress. The method further includes the steps of flattening the two collapsible sections, placing the flattened sections on top of one another, and storing the folded mattress in a cavity.

Abstract: An improved passenger vehicle with an adjustable seat is described. The seat is provided with a frame which includes a back subframe having a backrest cushion, a seat subframe with a seat cushion and a fastening subframe. The fastening subframe is suitable for mutually fastening the back subframe to the seat subframe, and/or is suitable for attaching one of the back subframe and seat subframe, or both, to a floor of the passenger vehicle. The frame can be adjusted between a seating position and a sleeping position. The upper side of the seat cushion in the sleeping position is situated below the upper side of the seat cushion in the seating position.

Abstract: An adjustable and transformative two or three sided sofa is provided with two backrests, a seat bottom, one or two motion systems and release systems and also two of the present methods have two or four folding legs which are used for its one or two beds. In the present sofa, another sofa is embedded under each sofa so that another sofa will be formed by 180 or 90 degrees rotation of each sofa. In the present methods a part of sofa such as backrest, seat bottom or legs need to be adjusted by the motion system before or after rotation. Each model includes two or three sofa. The motion mechanisms of the two or three sided sofa can be replaced by other systems such as the manual simple lockable systems, linear gear systems, accompanied by electromotor systems, pneumatic systems or any similar systems.

Abstract: The present invention is related to inflatable devices, and, more specifically, to inflatable devices in combination with rigid surfaces and a method for deflating an inflatable device. According to one embodiment of the present invention an inflatable device is provided. The inflatable device includes a substantially fluid impermeable bladder and an outlet in the bladder. The inflatable device also includes a first substantially rigid surface in contact with a first surface of the fluid impermeable bladder and a second substantially rigid surface in contact with the first surface of the fluid impermeable bladder. In this embodiment, the first and second substantially rigid surfaces collectively are in contact with more than half of the first surface of the fluid impermeable barrier. According to another embodiment of the present invention, a method of deflating an inflatable device is provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable-size bed (10) comprising a mattress core (16) and a base (14), which base is adapted to support at least a portion of the mattress core, wherein the mattress core and base have adjustable widths or lengths and each of the mattress core and base is changeable between an expanded state and a contracted state corresponding to an expanded state and a contracted state of the bed, respectively, and wherein the bed further comprises a cover means adapted to provide covering over the mattress core in both the expanded state and the contracted state of the bed. The present invention also relates to a vehicle comprising such a variable-size bed.

Abstract: Improved methods and apparatuses relating to installation of a sleeper mechanism into a frame of a sofa sleeper are disclosed. In one embodiment, initially the frame is aligned such that an open bottom portion of the frame is upright and facing outwardly. The sleeper mechanism is then advanced towards the open bottom portion and hook apertures on the brackets are engaged with upper fasteners on the frame. The sleeper mechanism is then swung inwardly towards the top portion of the frame until notches on the bracket are passed lower fasteners on the frame and then swung back towards the open bottom portion to engage the notches with the lower fasteners.

Abstract: A sofa is convertible to a bed. An air mattress normally stored in deflated condition in the sofa, is automatically deployed upon opening a folded framework into a bed. An electric pump inflates or deflates the mattress. A bag enclosing the bottom and sides of the mattress, is zipped onto the mattress, and has hook-and-loop fasteners securing it to strategic locations on the framework. The conversion from sofa to bed, and back to sofa, is done without removing any cushions and without moving the sofa away from anything behind it.

Abstract: A convertible sofabed is a sofa when closed in a sitting position and a bed when opened in a sleeping position. A retractable support structure can be telescoped from the sofa to form, in conjunction with the sofa, a bed that is longer than the depth of the sofa in its sitting position. The mattress in the sleeping position is folded in three portions, a fixed portion, a central portion and an outer portion. The outer portion forms a sofaback in the sitting position and the central portion folds to lie on top of the fixed portion to form the seat of the sofabed. The support structure includes curved legs that travel easily over the floor without causing damage.

The foldable-bed unit is rotated to insert the remaining fixtures into the second brackets.

The frame sections include a first seat section fixed to the base in a horizontal orientation, a second seat section having one side pivotally connected to a forward side of the first seat section, and a seat back section pivotally connected to an opposite side of the second seat section. The frame sections are movable between the folded seating condition with the second seat section pivoted into overlying superposed face abutment to the first seat section and the seat back section extending angularly upwardly from the second seat section for use as a seat, and the unfolded sleeping condition with the second seat section and the seat back section aligned horizontally with the first seat section for use as a bed.

A seat back of a sofa bed is pulled and rolled out using roll out wheels concealed underneath the seat back as they glide across a track mechanism (also concealed underneath the seat back) until the roll out wheels lock into place. The back rest is pushed down until the back rest is level with the pulled-out seat bed thereby forming a regular-sized bed. In this manner, a sofa bed may be easily converted from the “sofa” position to the “bed” position while forming a regular-sized bed.

Abstract: A multi-angle hook fastened to an extension member, that is used to stop the extension from completely pulling out of the frame it sits in. When fully extended, the multi-angle hook allows at least three different holding positions, seen as three different angles that the extension sits at while using the multi-angle hook as its fixed point of pivot. The multi-angle hook is a metal, plastic, or wood plate bent along several parallel lines, across its width, at varying angles. An L-shaped hinge which is used to secure a side rail-less frame member to another frame member, to avoid undue stress on the side rail-less frame member. The L-shaped hinge is a metal, plastic, or wood plate which substantially conforms to a portion of a side rail-less frame member.

Abstract: A sofa has a first frame fixed to first and second side members and a mattress with a first section secured to the first frame and a second section located over the first section by a hinge to define a seat that is rotated about the hinge to define a first sleeping surface. A second frame is pivotally attached to the first and second side members with a second mattress attached thereto to define a back for the sofa. A rail is secured to the second frame and engages a beam that extends between the first and second side member to set an incline for the back. The rail is rotated to define a barrier when the second frame is positioned a horizontal plane to define a second sleeping surface. Legs that extend from the second frame engage the side members to retain the second mattress in the horizontal plane.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a futon sofa sleeper having a sofa frame, a folding mechanism and a mattress assembly. The a sofa frame has a back with a cavity and a pair of opposed arms. The folding mechanism folds into and out of the sofa frame and is extendable from a first position to a second position. The folding mechanism includes a frame with a rear section rotatably coupled with the sofa frame, a middle section pivotally coupled with the rear section, and a front section pivotally coupled with the middle section. The mattress assembly is supported on the folding mechanism and contains a shell and an inner support received within the shell. The inner support including an innerspring construction and an air bladder, wherein in the first position, the rear and middle sections of the folding mechanism are located within the cavity and the front section is used as a seating surface and wherein in the second position, the rear, middle, and front sections are used as a sleeping surface.
