Publication number: 20140283302Abstract: Device for insertion in bedsteads for use as lying surface with mattress on top. Prior art according to, e.g., German product testing institute Stiftung Warentest almost don't accomplish lying profile adaptation to human body as function of changing between supine or lateral position. Publication number: 20140068861Abstract: A patient support apparatus for supporting a patient in a prone position during a surgical procedure is provided, including an open fixed frame suspended above a floor and a pair of spaced opposed radially sliding joints cooperating with the frame, each joint including a virtual pivot point and an arc of motion spaced from the virtual pivot point, the joints being movable along the arc providing a pivot ship mechanism for a pair of pelvic pads attached to the joints. A base for supporting and suspending a patient support structure above the floor, for supporting a patient during a surgical procedure, the base including a pair of spaced opposed vertical translation subassemblies reversibly attachable to a patient support structure, a cross-bar, and a rotation subassembly having two degrees of rotational freedom; wherein a location of each vertical translation subassembly is substantially constant during operation of the patient support structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2013Publication date: March 13, 2014Inventors: Roger P Jackson, Lawrence E Guerra, Trevor A Waggoner, Steven A Walton, Michael A Herron

Publication number: 20140033432Abstract: A patient positioning system employs an arm having a first portion and a second portion which is telescopic relative to the first portion. A first positioning device may be coupled to the first portion of the arm providing support for the arm. The first positioning device is rotatable on a first axis, allowing the arm to rotate with the first positioning device. The second positioning device is coupled to the second portion of the arm and movable with the second portion of the arm relative to the first portion of the arm. The second positioning device is operable to rotate a patient support at least on a second axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2012Publication date: February 6, 2014Applicant: Varian Medical Systems UK LimitedInventor: Jason Marle

Patent number: 8584281Abstract: A surgery table utilizing first and second hinged supports that form a frame supporting a patient. First and second connectors hold the first and second supports to first and second piers. Each pier is formed with a base with a linked positioning mechanism for each connector and support member. Each positioning mechanism utilizes a column and a first arm having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The first arm proximal portion is axially rotatable relative to the first column. The second arm possesses a proximal portion and a distal portion such that the second arm proximal portion is axially rotatable relative to the distal portion of the first arm. The second arm distal portion links to the frame connector. A controller determines the axial rotation of the proximal portions of the first and second arms to determine an overall configuration of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2012Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: Mizuho Orthopedic Systems, IncInventors: Mark Diel, Charles Ladd, Steve Lamb
