  • Patent number: 11035446
Abstract: Linear actuator comprising a reversible electric motor (20), a transmission (21), a non-self-locking spindle (22), where the reversible electric motor (20) through the transmission (21) drives the non-self-locking spindle (22) and a spindle nut (23) on the spindle (22). The actuator further comprises an adjustment element (24) secured against rotation and where the adjustment element (24) can be moved axially, as it is connected to or integrated with the spindle nut (23) on the spindle (22). Further, that actuator comprises position means for determining the position of the spindle nut (23), brake means for controlling the speed of the spindle nut (23) under the external load. Between the brake means and the spindle there is a coupling in connection with the position means for determining the position of the spindle nut (23). The coupling engages the brake means to the spindle or disengages the brake means from the spindle, when the spindle nut (23) is in a predetermined position on the spindle (22).

  • Patent number: 11011267
Abstract: Systems and methods of associating beds and/or rooms and/or patients are provided. One system and method involves using a signature of emitted light to determine a location of a patient bed in a healthcare facility. Another system and method involves reading a bar code from an array of redundant bar codes. Still another system and method involves manually entering location information on a graphical user interface of a patient bed for subsequent transmission. A further system and method involves sending bed ID and location ID along parallel paths from two independent circuits on a patient bed for receipt by two different transceivers and ultimately by two different remote computers that cooperate to associate the bed ID with the location ID. Still a further system and method involves using circuitry on a bed to mutate a received location ID and a bed ID into a single unique mutated ID such as by adding the location ID and bed ID and then performing a hashing operation.

  • Patent number: 10406045
Abstract: Patient support apparatuses, such as beds, cots, stretchers, recliners, or the like, include control systems with one or more image, radar, and/or laser sensors to detect objects and determine if a likelihood of collision exists. If so, the control system controls the speed and steering of the patient support apparatus in order to reduce the likelihood of collision. The control system may be adapted to autonomously drive the patient support apparatus, to transmit a message to a remote device indicating whether it is occupied by a patient or not, and/or to transmit its route to the remote device. The remote device may determine an estimate of a time of arrival of the patient support apparatus at a particular destination and/or determine a distance of the patient support apparatus from the particular destination.

  • Patent number: 10391009
Abstract: A patient-support apparatus according the present disclosure has a head end and a foot end. The patient-support apparatus includes a source of pressurized air, a plurality of bladders, a manifold, a plurality of pressure sensors, and a controller. The controller includes a processor, a timer, and a memory device. The processor configured to execute instructions from the memory so that the processor retrieves a baseline patient-specific profile from the memory, calculates a first patient outcome corresponding to an amount of migration of a patient toward the foot end of the bed over time, updates the baseline patient-specific profile to include the first patient outcome, calculates a set of operating parameters based on the updated patient-specific profile, the set of operating parameters including a set of target pressures for the plurality of bladders, and adjusts the pressures in the bladders to the target pressures.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a patient support surface to support a patient. The patient support surface has at least one air bladder that is inflated and/or deflated to achieve a turn assist function and/or a therapy function of the patient support surface. A graphical user interface (GUI) is configured to receive user inputs from a caregiver to initiate the turn assist or therapy functions. The patient support apparatus has control circuitry coupled to the GUI. The GUI is controlled by the control circuitry to display information indicating that the patient is improperly positioned on the patient support surface for either the turn assist function or the therapy function. Alternatively or additionally, the control circuitry indicates that the patient is improperly positioned for raising a head section of a bed frame.
