  • Patent number: 5953779
Abstract: The foam mattress assembly has a stack of foam mattress elements with one of their peripheral edges joined together such that the stack of foam mattress elements remains in a vertical stack. The containment system which keeps side-by-side mattress together consists of a head and foot containment block extending across the top and bottom respectively of a pair of adjacent mattresses. The head and foot containment blocks make up a portion of the sleeping surface and are of a sufficient size and strength to prevent lateral outward movement of the pair of adjacent foam mattresses. Bedding for the mattress assembly is secured around the outer edge of the mattress or around the outer edge of the containment system by using a retainer rope tensioned around the mattress to hold the bedding into a groove.

  • Patent number: 5940913
Abstract: An adjustable foam pillow which allows the user to choose the degree of support provided to the user's head and neck regions. Two column or rod shaped lateral neck bolsters are formed from foam having elliptical cross sections. A central bolster is provided which is also formed from foam. The central bolster includes neck-bolster recesses along the front and back wherein said recesses are sized and configured to snugly retain the lateral neck bolsters. The neck-bolsters indentations include gear teeth receptacles and the neck bolsters include gear teeth which mesh with the gear receptacles. A user can reorient the neck bolsters relative to the central bolster by rotating the neck bolsters. The gear arrangement provides a method of registering the position of the bolsters without permanently affixing them. A stretch terry cloth pillow cover fits snugly around the entire pillow thereby holding the three separate components together.

  • Patent number: 5826537
Abstract: A pet bed which is collapsible as a unit for more efficient packaging, storage, and display. The foam cores which form the bottom cushion and the surrounding wall are enclosed in first and second fabric enclosures. The enclosure for the bottom cushion is joined to the fabric layer which extends over the inside and top of the wall core, but is free from attachment to the fabric which extends under the lower edge of the wall. This permits the bottom cushion to be tilted up to a vertical alignment parallel to the forward and rearward portions of the wall as the latter are pressed together, producing a flattened structure in which the forward and rearward wall portions lie flat against the upper and lower surfaces of the bottom cushion. The lower edges of the two fabric enclosures are provided with elasticized openings which retain the foam cores, but permit their removal for washing of the fabric cover.
