The shelving system also includes a plurality of elongated vertically-extending corner posts to which the side rail ends are connected to form a self-standing skeletal structure. Each corner post has at least two open-ended second through slots located at a given distance in-between the corner post ends and that each extend perpendicularly from a corresponding side edge towards a common junction of the corner post. Each first through slot forms a detachable interdigitated and load-bearing engagement with a corresponding one of the second through slots to support the shelf assembly.

    Abstract: Frequently there is a need to have a bed extended so as to provide for additional sleeping space. Typically a horizontal extension is provided that requires a larger floor space. Alternatively double-decker beds are used but these are cumbersome and less than attractive for every-day use. A bed comprised of two frames each having a mattress where the top frame lays over the bottom frame during normal usage is provided. When additional sleeping space is required the upper frame is raised vertically over the lower frame, creating a double-decker bed.

    Abstract: A stow-away bed is disclosed that includes a flat rectangular deck pivotally mounted between opposed vehicle end walls by a pair of parallel swing arms. The parallel swing arms allow the bed deck to remain horizontal as the deck is manually swung between the storage and sleep positions. The stow-away bed is pivotally mounted between opposed vehicle end walls for movement between a sleep position where the bed deck is suspended adjacent the vehicle ceiling and a sleep position, where the bed deck is suspended from the vehicle ceiling. In one embodiment, a pair of elastic cords connect the bed deck to the vehicle side wall. The elastic cords pull the bed deck toward the vehicle sidewall and help hold the bed deck in the sleep position. In another embodiment, a chain drive and piston prop are incorporated to assist in moving the bed between the storage and sleep positions.

    Abstract: The invention provides a vertical lift mechanism (10) for a bunk bed within a recreational vehicle. The mechanism includes a lateral support assembly (14) that travels up and down in an upright frame assembly (34). The lifting force is provided by a drive unit (12) mounted to the support assembly (14) that winds and unwinds a flexible member (18) through a guide arrangement (68, 70, 72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 82) mounted to the support assembly (14). The flexible member (18) is preferably an assembly of cables, more preferably four primary cables (52, 54, 56, 58) each having one end attached to the ceiling of the vehicle and their opposite ends coupled together and linked to a leader cable (50) which is wound about the drive spindle (44). The primary cables (52, 54, 56, 58) travel around the guides (68, 70, 72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 82), which can be an arrangement of single and double sheaves or pulleys, to translate the winding force to vertical forces that raise or lower the support assembly (14).

    Abstract: The folding bunk beds of this invention fold between a horizontal sleep position and a vertical storage position. The various embodiments, both manually operated and power operated, of the folding bunk beds use vertically shifting pivot points to accommodate larger bed decks. The bed decks are hinged to carriages that slide on vertical shafts mounted within a wall frame. Bed decks are mounted to support arms that are pivotally connected to the carriages. A linkage mechanism or guide track allows the bed decks to pivot simultaneously between a horizontal sleep position and a vertical storage position as the carriages shift along the shafts. The vertically shifting pivot point allows the bed decks to kneel down, that is to fold up at a pivot point lower on the wall.
