Abstract: There is disclosed a detergent composition containing, as an essential ingredient, at least one member selected from three types of .alpha.-sulfo-fatty acid derivatives as represented by following formulas (1), (2) and (3): ##STR1## where R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each an alkyl group or an alkenyl group, each having from 6 to 24 carbon atoms;R.sub.5 is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms;M.sub.1, M.sub.2, M.sub.3 and M.sub.4 are each a hydrogen atom or a cation capable of forming a salt;AO is an oxyalkylene group or a polyvalent alcohol residue; andp, m and n are each a positive number. The detergent compositions are very low in irritability to the body and have a low critical micelle concentration and a low Krafft point. Further, they are highly soluble in water and they can be used in the form of powder or liquid.
Abstract: The invention describes detergent bar compositions comprising liquid silicone compounds or emulsions of said compounds which are used in relatively small levels as processing aids. These compounds allow pellets coming off a chill roll or refiner to be less tacky such that they do not readily clog machinery when the pellets are transferred to silos.

Abstract: This invention relates to a system for cleansing the skin comprising a hydrophobic diamond-mesh sponge and a liquid cleansing and moisturizing composition with excellent lather in the same washing and rinsing operation. The system provides improved lather and overall acceptability for mild liquid cleansing compositions which contain moisturizers and especially for those which would otherwise have marginal lather.

Abstract: A composition comprising an ethoxylated alkyl glyceryl ether sulfonate wherein the alkyl is twelve to fifteen carbon atoms, with no more than about 50 wt. % branched alkyl, no more than about 20 wt. % alkenyl, the average number of ethoxy groups is one, and no more than about 25 wt. % of the sulfonate components having ethoxy groups with a value of four or more.
Abstract: A composition comprising a compound of the formulaROCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 SO.sub.3.sup.- X.sup.+wherein R is alkyl or alkenyl of eight to twenty two carbon atoms, inclusive or a mixture thereof and X is an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium in combination with a soap or additional surfactant and moisture.
Abstract: A solid personal cleansing composition comprising:a. one or more cationic surfactants complexed with one or more anionic surfactants andb. one or more non complexed anionic surfactants.

Abstract: Soap bars which both clean and moisturize the skin are disclosed. The soap bars contain, in addition to conventional bar soap components, a mixture of petrolatum and a specifically defined emollient, preferably an hydroxylated milk glyceride.
Abstract: There is provided a mild detergent toilet bar (syndet bar) composition containing from at least 25 percent up to about 65 percent by weight of synthetic surface active agents, which lathers, foams and wears well, exhibits minimal slushing and curd-forming properties in all types of water, possesses good plasticity and tactile properties while also being mild and non-injurious to the user's skin and readily processed with conventional soap-making equipment. The syndet bar compositions containa) from about 15 to 35 percent by weight of acyl esters of isethionic acid salts;b) at least one sulfosuccinate in an amount from about 10 to about 30 percent by weight wherein the weight ratio of said acyl isethionate esters to sulfosuccinate is 0.

Abstract: The invention provides a process for the manufacture of soap forms which includes the step of treating a soap feedstock by passage through a twin screw, intermeshing, counter-rotating extruder and apparatus for the manufacture of soap forms according to the process, said apparatus containing a twin screw, intermeshing, counter-rotating extruder, wherein the extruder includes two oppositely-threaded, closely intermeshing screws, the screws being non-matching and such that the ratio of the length to the diameter is greater than 1:1, mounted for rotation within a barrel having a first end and a second end, said screws having a minimal screw-to-screw and screw to barrel clearance such that as the feedstock passes along at least a part of the barrel from said first end and towards said second end it is divided into a plurality of discrete, substantially C-shaped segments bounded by the screw and barrel surfaces and conveyed in a path whereby the bulk of the feedstock move substantially parallel to the rotational a
