Abstract: Precision cleaning compositions for electronic and electrical components comprise at least one halogenated, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon other than cis-1,2-dichloroethylene; at least one fluorinated saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon having the formula CnHmFp, wherein 3≦n≦6, 0≦m≦9 and p≧5; at least one fluorinated saturated or unsaturated ether having the formula CaHbOcFd, wherein 3≦a≦6, 0≦b≦9, c≧1, and d≧5; methylal; at least one simple alcohol; and optionally at least one propellant. In a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises trans-1,2-dichloroethylene, methylal, methyl nonafluorobutyl ether, ethyl nonafluoroisobutyl ether and carbon dioxide. The cleaning compositions are environmentally friendly (non-ozone depleting), are strong enough to tackle tough soils yet mild enough for use on plastic components, are non-flammable, have no flash point, and leave no residue on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6746998
Abstract: A non-flammable ternary liquid cleaner is formulated from first, second and third solvents. The first solvent is a hydrofluorocarbon, the second solvent is a dichloroethylene and the third solvent is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon. The hydrochlorofluorocarbon imparts low flammability to the cleaner. The hydrofluorocarbon is present in a concentration of about 10 percent to about 80 percent by weight of the cleaner, the dichloroethylene is present in a concentration of about 10 percent to about 60 percent by weight of the cleaner and the hydrochlorofluorocarbon is present in a concentration of at about 10 percent to about 40 percent by weight of the cleaner. The third solvent is non-flammable and thus renders the ternary cleaner non-flammable.

  • Patent number: 6699829
Abstract: Chemical solvating, degreasing, stripping and cleaning agents. The agents are cleaning and solvating mixtures of dichloroethylene and alkoxy-substituted perfluoro compounds that contain six carbon atoms, with optionally highly fluorinated materials to retard flammability and/or other enhancement agents that improve and enhance the properties of the composition to accomplish its desired cleaning or solvating task. These other agents are one or more of the following materials: alcohols, esters, ethers, cyclic ethers, ketones, alkanes, aromatics, amines, siloxanes terpenes, dibasic esters, glycol ethers, pyrollidones, or low- or non-ozone depleting halogenated hydrocarbons. These mixtures are useful in a variety of solvating, vapor degreasing, photoresist stripping, adhesive removal, aerosol, cold cleaning, and solvent cleaning applications including defluxing, dry-cleaning, degreasing, particle removal, metal and textile cleaning.

Abstract: Chemical solvating, degreasing, stripping and cleaning agents. The agents are cleaning and solvating mixtures of mono brominated compounds with highly fluorinated compounds and/or other agents that improve and enhance the properties of the original mixture. The addition of these agents to the composition will modify the physical and/or cleaning characteristics of the monobrominated compound and/or monobrominated compound-fluorinated compound mixture to accomplish is desired cleaning or solvating task. These other agents are one or more of the following materials: alcohols, esters, ethers, cyclic ethers, ketones, alkanes, terpenes, dibasic esters, glycol ethers, pyrollidones, or low or non ozone depleting chlorinated and chlorinated/fluorinated hydrocarbons.
