The composition contains component a) at least one tertiary amino oxide of formula R1 R2 R3 NO, whereby R1 represents an alkylamidoalkyl, alkenylamidoalkyl, alkoxypropylamidoalkyl or alkenylamidoalkyl group having between 8–18 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 represent, independently from each other, low molecular alkyl radicals or hydroxyethyl radicals or hydroxypropyl radicals, and component b) at least one alkali metal salt of polyasparaginic acid having a molecular weight of between 5,000 g/mol–50,000 g/mol, or a polyglutaminic acid having a molecular weight of between 5,000 g/mol–50,000 g/mol, or a mixture of both substances, whereby the weight ratio of the components a:b is between 10:1 and 3000:1. The cleaner of the present invention effectively removes dirt and comprises environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors.

If a chelating agent is not present, the composition, while providing for adequate stripping and cleaning upon initial use of the composition following mixing, has only short term stability. In this latter instance, the nucleophilic amine compound and organic solvent components of the composition preferably are maintained separate from each other until it is desired to use the composition. Thereafter, the components are combined. Following use of the composition, the non-used portion of the composition can be disposed of or be reactivated by the addition of a chelating agent.

    Abstract: Disinfectant compositions, containing (a) at least one amine and/or quaternary ammonium salt of the general formula (Ia) or (Ib): wherein R1 represents C6-18 alkyl, R2 represents benzyl or C6-18 alkyl, R3 represents C1-18 alkyl or —[CH2)2—O]nR6, where n=1-20, R4 and R5 independently of one another represent C1-4 alkyl, R6 represents hydrogen or optionally substituted phenyl and A? is a monovalent anion or the equivalent of a multivalent anion of an inorganic or organic acid; and (b) at least one alkanolamine of the general formula (II): wherein m and, if present, o and p independently of one another have the values 2 or 3 and x and y independently of one another have the values 0 or 1, or a corresponding salt. The mass ratio of the components in the formulas (I):(II) is between 20:1 and 1:20. The compositions are characterized by an excellent bactericidal and in particular fungicidal action even in small application concentrations and are suitable for use as both disinfectants and preservative agents.
