Abstract: Administering a therapeutically effective dose of lithium ions mitigates the side effects of a psychoactive substance such as a cannabinoid. The therapeutically effective dose of lithium ions includes greater than 4 milligrams of lithium and less than 170 milligrams of lithium, or includes between 8 and 32 milligrams of lithium ions per milligram of the psychoactive substance. The therapeutically effective dose of lithium ions is administered using lithium carbonate, lithium citrate, lithium chloride, lithium orotate, lithium aspartate, or analogs thereof using a delivery vehicle selected from pills, tablets, capsules, gelcaps, liquids, syrups, injectable liquids, powders, or foods and administered prior to, with, or after administration of the psychoactive substance. The psychoactive substance includes one or more of anandamide, 2-arachidonoyl glycerol, 2-arachidonoyl glycerol ether, tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabinol, cannabidiol, or analogs thereof and may be administered using the delivery vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8609852
Abstract: The identification of a unique series of compounds which possesses special advantages in terms of drug-like properties due to their possessing advantageous properties in terms of potency and/or pharmacokinetic and/or selectivity and/or in vivo receptor occupancy properties. Specifically, the selection of a 1,3-thiazol-2-yl ring member linked by an ethynylene to the 3 position of a pyridyl ring or the 5 position of a pyrimidinyl ring, wherein the ring is substituted with selected substituents, results in a compound having superior drug-like properties. The invention includes pharmaceutically acceptable salt forms of these heterocyclic compounds, in particular chloride salts and trifluoroacetate salts.

Abstract: The invention provides pyrimidine compounds of general formula (I), which reduce simultaneously the production of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). They have no negative effect on the viability of cells in concentrations decreasing the production of these factors by up to 50%; they are not cytotoxic. Furthermore, a method of preparation of the pyrimidine compounds of general formula (I), carrying 2-formamido group, a pharmaceutical composition comprising the substituted pyrimidine compounds according to the invention, and the use of these compounds for the treatment of inflammatory and cancer diseases are provided.
