  • Patent number: 10907369
Abstract: The present concept is a method of roofing a bare roof deck. Asphalt shingles and metal flashings are applied to a wood deck of a roof before flashings and asphalt capping are applied. Metal panels are applied overtop of existing asphalt roof, thereby creating a metal overlay configured such that substantially all of the asphalt shingles are covered with a metal panel for preventing further degradation of asphalt components by shielding from sunlight, UV rays, excessive moisture, snow, wind, ice and fire. No further flashings are installed thereby the metal panel overlay creates a semi-watertight seal wherein the metal panel overlay together with asphalt roof is adapted to create a watertight seal. The present concept is also a method for roofing an existing asphalt shingled roof where metal panels are applied overtop the existing asphalt shingled roof.

The gutter zone becomes progressively deeper from upstream till downstream by stretching it with fingers. At the most upstream point of the balcony, above the first transverse joist attached against a wall of a construction, the gutter zone is completely flattened to bend the membrane and put it against the wall, thus acting as a flashing which collects water flowing along the wall before infiltrating into joists. The mesh layer can be secured to the guard panel at substantially all points of contact between the mesh layer and guard panel to thereby provide a secure and durable gutter guard apparatus. Methods and devices for forming a gutter guard can comprise bonding the mesh layer to a guard panel using a radiant heater, heated roller, adhesive applicator, ultrasonic welder and/or combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 8997403
Abstract: A rain gutter assembly including an overlying cover. A gutter trough is in the form of a channel having an upwardly-facing opening. The cover overlies the channel opening and includes a front edge that is spaced from the front edge of the gutter channel to define a gap therebetween to allow roof runoff to flow around the convex front edge of the cover and into the channel. A series of longitudinally-spaced support brackets are positioned within the gutter channel and support the gutter trough and the cover to provide a rigid gutter assembly. An end cap is provided at each longitudinal end of the gutter channel and overlies both the gutter channel cross section and the space between the gutter channel cross section and the cover, to prevent entry of leaves, twigs, and debris into the channel through the ends of the gutter trough.

Abstract: An improved gutter system which utilizes an anchored roof segment. The roof segment allows the attachment of a gutter body or a fascia cover via a ball and socket type joint. In order to make the system more aesthetically pleasing, a decorative molding of any color or shape may be attached to the front wall of the gutter body or the fascia cover. Preferably the decorative member resembles a crown molding commonly used in the construction industry; however, an infinite number of profiles are possible and only depend on the designer of the decorative member.

Abstract: A rainwater runoff diverting attachment for building roofs is an arrangement of thin, solid bodies connected in two dimensions and elongated in a third dimension. An attachment flange facilitates installation onto the fascia board of a building adjacent to the roof edge. Rainwater runoff falls into a runoff diversion trough and is diverted laterally. A projecting overhang ensures effective collection of rainwater runoff and provides shielding against debris falling into the runoff diversion trough.

The roofing apparatus further comprises an electrostatic charging device configured to selectively apply an electrostatic force to the first roofing panel to cause movement of the first roofing panel between the retracted position and the extended position. In another example, a method for deflecting precipitation comprises the steps of providing a first roofing panel biased by gravity and applying an electrostatic force to the first roofing panel to cause the first roofing panel to move between a retracted position and an extended position against the bias of gravity.

  • Patent number: 8967554
Abstract: A gutter system incorporating a gutter clip and a gutter hanger to affix a gutter to a retaining clip attached to a fascia board of a building, thereby eliminating the need to place holes in the gutter with screws or nails. The gutter hanger is constructed of a single piece which has an intermediate section which is disposed substantially within the gutter and spans the width of the gutter to maintain the shape and structural integrity of the gutter. The gutter hanger has a contiguous platform disposed along its intermediate section for slidably and detachably attaching a leaf protection support apparatus. The leaf protection support apparatus has a groove that snugly but slidably receives the platform of the gutter hanger. The leaf protection support apparatus extends toward the roof of the building, and has a vertical member terminating in an angled member extending upward to support a leaf protection device.

  • Patent number: 8925253
Abstract: A gutter and cover system mounts at an edge of a roof to collect water into the gutter without other debris. The system includes a combination gutter and cover made from a monolithic element or interlocked to form a single structure. The gutter includes a front, bottom and rear extending up to the cover, which extends over the gutter. The cover has a pooling section and a front, curving edge. The pooling section slows down the flow of water and allows it to flow over the curving edge and adhere to the cover due to surface tension while debris falls outside of the gutter. A support element slides inward to provide support for the cover and a front face of the gutter. The support element includes structure for receiving mounting hardware.
