The membrane comprises flat sloped zones and a foldable gutter shaped zone between two flat zones. The gutter zone becomes progressively deeper from upstream till downstream by stretching it with fingers. At the most upstream point of the balcony, above the first transverse joist attached against a wall of a construction, the gutter zone is completely flattened to bend the membrane and put it against the wall, thus acting as a flashing which collects water flowing along the wall before infiltrating into joists. Abstract: A new rain gutter system includes a set of interlocked segments that are placed about perpendicular to the roof atop the roof. The segments create a channel that is angled from one edge of the roof to the other. The segments also create a non-permeable barrier at the intersection of the segments with the roof which causes the rain runoff running down the slope of the roof to be redirected into the channel and passed to one edge of the roof where it is deposited into a drain. The non-permeable barrier is established by laying a skirt that extends from the bottom of each segment upwards against the slope of the roof. The skirt can be inserted underneath the shingles, sealed with a sealant, or the end of the skirt can be thin enough to rest bare atop the roof and still provide a sufficient barrier.

  • Patent number: 8800211
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rainwater gutter for mounting on a building to collect rainwater from the roof. It is shaped similar to a letter S. The rainwater flows from the roof covering onto the top section of the S shaped curved element, where, due to the contour of the gutter and surface tension will flow down from the upper curved section into the cylindrical section via the opening formed by the bottom section of the S returning to terminate as an open end close to the top section. The small opening also emits daylight thus reducing the possibility of vegetation growing in the gutter. This will reduce expensive and dangerous maintenance of eave gutters. Because the water gathered from the eave of the roof is cleaner it would reduce filtration costs for rainwater harvesting. The gutter can be formed in plastic, aluminum, copper or zinc.

  • Patent number: 8695282
Abstract: A gutter guard for use with a K-style rain gutter includes a substantially flat center section, a guard rear flange extending from the center section and a guard lip extending from the guard rear flange. Also extending from the center section is an L-shaped guard front flange that includes a first leg joined with the center section and a second leg extending from the first leg. The guard is adapted to fit in the gutter so that a lower outside corner of the guard is nested within a first inside corner of the gutter, an upper outside corner of the guard is nested within a second inside corner of the gutter, the second leg of the guard is nested within a close inside corner of the gutter, and at least a portion of a rear wall of the gutter is nested between the guard lip and the guard rear flange.

  • Patent number: 8689492
Abstract: A roof-mounted actuator of a gutter dumping assembly is actuatable to rotate a gutter from an initial, upright position to a downwardly-facing dumped position in order to dump debris from the gutter. The actuator is coupled to the gutter support by a flexible structure so that, after the actuator positively engages a support for the gutter and forces it to an over-center position, the gutter falls to a dumped position under only the force of gravity.
