  • Patent number: 6688045
Abstract: The present invention is an enclosed rain gutter for draining water from the surface of a sloped roof and conducting it to a downspout. The invention rain gutter includes a channel that is covered by a mounting flange suitable for insertion under the material covering the roof of a building and a collecting flange connected to the mounting flange by a rounded edge. The collecting flange has openings for delivering water into the channel and features for delivering water to the openings. While the collecting flange features and openings deliver water into the channel, they also exclude debris from entering the channel and in particular they exclude debris might obstruct a downspout.

  • Patent number: 6672012
Abstract: A gutter cover for directing the flow of rainwater from a building roof into a gutter mounted to the peripheral edge thereof while preventing debris such as leaves and twigs from entering and clogging the gutter. The cover is secured to the roof of the building such that rainwater flowing down the shingles will flow across the cover at the bottom roof line. A lower end of the cover has an arcuate nose disposed substantially above the outer edge of the gutter. The surface of the gutter is treated with one or more combinations of coatings and/or substrate textures to slow the flow of water while improving flow to the cover surface. Rainwater will flow around the arcuate nose into the gutter while debris carried by the rainwater is expelled outwardly over the edge of the gutter.

Abstract: The downspouts attach to the building by flanges extending from the downspout. The downspouts are attachable to standard gutters and elbows. At the corner of a building, downspouts are attachable to each wall forming the corner and an insert extends between the two downspouts to create a seamless appearance. Siding, brick, or other wall covering for the building extends from the downspouts. Downspouts also can be used in a corner or building, the inside corner of a building having a pair of flanges attachable to the building. Also, the downspouts can be attachable to a post, such as on a porch. The downspout may also contain a right-angle turn. In a right-angle turn, a trap is provided for the easy cleaning of the vertical downspout.

Abstract: A gutter shield device for mounting in the open topof a gutter attached to the edge of a roof. The gutter shield device includes an extruded uni-body comprised of a first horizontal plane that rests of the front lip of a rain gutter. The first plane has an underlying u-shped channel that joins a second downwardly angled perforated plane that directs water away from the front of a rain gutter. The second perforated plane joins, at its lower edge, an upward extending veritcal support leg. The vertical support leg joins a downwardly and inwardly extending (referenced from the top edge of the backwall of a rain gutter) perforated third plane. The combination of the second and third perforated planes, joined at the middle by an upward extending vertical support leg, form an extended v-shaped well that breaks the forward flow of water, forcing it to pool backwards encouraging it to flow through, rather than channel around, perforations.

  • Patent number: 6397526
Abstract: A gutter cleaner comprises a float portion and a stem portion. The float portion comprises a float piece that typically has a size larger than the downspout opening of a gutter in which the gutter cleaner is installed. Accordingly, the float will not flow down or become lodged in the downspout. The float piece is made of materials or in a manner such that the float piece will be raised within the gutter when water flows there through. The stem portion typically is attached to the float portion and extends downwardly into the downspout of the gutter. As rainwater flows into the gutter and down the downspout, the water will raise the float while the stem portion will remain extending downwardly into the downspout. The flow of the water agitates the stem and the float regions of the gutter cleaner. This agitation action reduces the buildup of small twigs and pine needles at the downspout region, thereby facilitating the flow of debris and water down the downspout and out of the gutter.
