Abstract: A barrier assembly for a skylight well opening includes a framework having a peripheral frame sized to circumscribe the light well opening. The framework can be secured in a position relative to a ceiling surface so that the peripheral frame circumscribes the light well opening. A grillwork is adapted to mate with the framework in a closed position wherein the grillwork and framework define a panel space. A light-transmissive panel is sized to fit within the panel space between the grillwork and the framework. The grillwork is hingedly attached to the framework so that that the grillwork and framework can be moved between an open position and the closed position. The grillwork is adapted to releasably attach to the framework in the closed position.

Abstract: A passive collimating tubular skylight consisting of a radiant energy-collecting aperture, a radiant energy-delivering aperture, and a radiant energy passageway between these two apertures, the passageway having a specularly reflective interior surface and a configuration to improve the collimation of the radiant energy passing therethrough. The skylight can be configured with the radiant energy-collecting aperture located above the roof of a building, oriented to collect sunlight; and equipped with a sealed weatherproof glazing, with the radiant energy-delivering aperture, or luminaire, located at ceiling level within the building, and equipped with a diffusing glazing; and with the reflective tubular light passageway constructed with a larger cross sectional area near the radiant energy-delivering aperture than near the radiant energy-collecting aperture.

  • Patent number: 6363668
Abstract: Various skylight connectors are disclosed. A sheet is integrally formed with tabs along opposed axial edges of the sheet, and the sheet can be bent into a tubular configuration with the tabs along one edge engaging tab holes along the other edge and vice-versa to hold the sheet in the tubular configuration. Also, a skylight dome fastener adaptor includes a hollow body, and ribs are formed on the outer surface to engage a hole in a skylight dome to impede rotation of the body in the hole when a fastener is disposed in the adaptor and threadably engaged with a dome flashing. Additionally, various quick connect zip ties and clips are disclosed for quickly and easily engaging components of a skylight assembly.

  • Patent number: 6363666
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for preventing insertion from the outside of instruments that could pivot the control bar situated on the inside of the skylight. The device is constituted by a box and two narrow strips positioned in an offset manner so as to form a baffle preventing any instrument being inserted while leaving a free passage for ventilation air. Spacers serve to stiffen the assembly. A cap protects the control lever for opening the lock of the skylight, and a fork enables the latch existing on the skylight to be moved.

  • Patent number: 6360496
Abstract: The present invention relates to a circular building structure which comprises a plurality of columnar structures, each of which extends from a point below ground level to a desired height above ground level and wall structures positioned between the columnar structures and forming a substantially circular exterior wall with the columnar structures. The wall structures and the columnar structures enclose a substantially circular inner space. The building structure further includes a central hub positioned above the inner space. A plurality of trusses for supporting a roof are provided. Each of the trusses is joined to a respective one of the columnar structures and to the central hub. The inner space is divided into a perimetric space and an interior space by an interior wall which is concentric with the exterior wall. The perimetric space, in a preferred construction, is divided by walls into at least one passageway and a number of rooms.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses an elastomeric skylight membrane molded as a single piece comprising a planar element 18 for sealably engaging roof sheathing 26 and a centrally positioned collar element 20 for sealably engaging the rough opening framing members 34. The skylight collar membrane 20 is inserted over the framed rough opening for a skylight 16 having the elastomeric collar element tightly engaging the framing members 34 and of substantially the same height as the rough opening frame members. The planar element 18 engages the roof sheathing 26 and is fixedly attached thereto by any means well known within the art. Positioned across the up slope side 36 of the collar 20 is an angularly protruding edge 32 for preventing water from wicking between the skylight frame 34 and the skylight membrane 10.
