Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for improving the thermal insulation of windows in which the outer face of the window frame (1) is provided with a casing (5) of weatherproof material which forms a cavity (17) and has the side of the casing not adjacent the masonry (8) turned inward toward the pane of glass (3) where it is fitted with a permanently elastic gasket (10) which makes contact with the glass. The cavity is filled completely with thermal insulation material. Using the arrangement according to the invention allows a thermal transmittance value for the complete window (Uw-value) of less than 1 to be achieved.
Abstract: A flashing assembly includes a sill horizontal, a sill flashing for attaching the assembly to a substrate, and at least one sill clip for interconnecting the sill horizontal and the sill flashing. The sill horizontal, sill flashing, and sill clip all preferably include aluminum alloy extrusions. The sill clip connects the sill horizontal to the sill flashing without through fasteners.

Abstract: A Window frame including two frame members (1, 2) adapted to mutual locking engagement, between which members a window pane (50) can be secured. One frame member (1) includes a tubular portion (5), into which a screw (3) may, be driven through the second frame member (2). The second frame member (2) further includes an engagement means in the form of a cavity (4), in which the tubular portion (5) may be inserted through an opening in the cavity. The tubular portion (5) is slit in such a manner that it expands for engagement with the engagement means.
Abstract: A unitary window insert and method of insertion into a wall structure for forming a finished surround for a window unit. The unitary insert comprises a frame portion sized and shaped to accept a window unit, from which planer finishing wall portions extend to a casing flange which surrounds the interior edge of the insert. Preferably the finishing walls are flared inward creating a pyramidal frustum having an opening larger at the interior surface of the wall than at the exterior surface. The insert extends through the wall structure from an exterior surface and to an interior surface. In the case of poured concrete walls, the insert is provided with a spacer or panel to support the frame portion during construction.

Abstract: A rectangular window opening in a structure is provided with four channel members that provide a decorative frame around the opening. Three of the channel members are permanently fastened to the structure through a flange on the channel. The fourth channel member is removably fastened in place. When the opening must be covered by a storm panel, the fourth channel is unfastened and removed. A rigid rectangular panel is mounted in the three channels. The fourth channel is then mounted on the fourth edge of the panel and then the fourth channel is removably fastened to the structure. All of the elements except the panel remain in place. The panels have no holes or accessories. All panels are interchangeable for the same size window. No tools are needed to mount or remove a panel.
Abstract: A single extruded cross-section and a single milled cross-section provide the rails and stiles of window sashes with the trouble-free functionality of vinyl and the esthetic functionality of wood. A few accessory extruded cross-sections provide weatherproof meeting rails and jambs and out-of-plumb compensation. Assembly of the extruded and milled components is accomplished simply and securely. This structure is characterized by plastic extrusions that feature a few interactive primary cross-sectional profiles, and milled wood or otherwise-shaped parts that feature a secondary cross-sectional profile. The primary and secondary profiles coact simply, securely and attractively.
Abstract: A surround molding assembly for a doorway or window of a structure such as a residential home or a commercial building. A mantle molding member is provided and fixedly secured over a top portion of the doorway without the need for external fastening elements. An installation support member is arranged within the molding member to support the outer surface of the molding member. An internal corner member is positioned adjacent each end of the mantle molding member and each directs water running onto the mantle molding member away from the doorway. Another trim assembly, including a base having a decorative portion and a ring are used to conceal a base flange. The trim assembly may be used in conjunction with a mantle assembly to provide a decorative molding that directs water away from a door or window.
