    Abstract: Windows and secure corner assemblies are generally described. The windows may include a sash having stiles arranged on vertical sides thereof and rails arranged on horizontal sides thereof. Primary reinforcement members may be arranged within the stiles. Secure corner assemblies may be configured to be arranged within corners of the sash formed by intersections of the stiles and the rails. The secure corner assemblies may include at least one secondary reinforcement member arranged on an external surface of one of the rails, such as a top rail. A tilt mechanism may be configured to be coupled to a primary reinforcement member and the at least one secondary reinforcement member, thereby providing a continuous reinforcement connection around the window sash. Vinyl windows using corner assemblies according to some embodiments may have increased pressure ratings compared to vinyl windows that do not include such corner assemblies.

The guide member may be a relatively flat piece attachable to and edge of a frame. In one aspect the guide member includes a perimeter slot. The support member may have a first portion generally perpendicular with a second portion and the first portion may be attached to an object (or integral with an object such as a window or door casing) which is to be aligned with a frame. The second portion may have a connector portion or threaded hole for receiving a connector. The connector may also engage the slot of the guide member. The device allows for desired alignment of an object within a frame by transferring rotational movement to linear movement.

    Abstract: A structural frame typically comprised of steel metallic material that is utilized in retrofitting a small basement window in an older residence with an egress window is described that comprises pieces of linear L-channel that has been formed into a rectangular frame. The thickness of the channel is relatively thin permitting an installer to retrofit the smaller window with a larger one that is only marginally less wide without having to cut an opening within the foundation wall that is wider than the original window's steel buck. Excepting the bottom side of the original window's buck, it can be left in place during retrofit. Accordingly, a substantial portion of the foundation wall's load carrying capacity around the window opening is maintained during retrofit eliminating the need for additional reinforcement.

The joining elements are arranged in a pattern that permits any two sub-assemblies made in the same mold to be permanently snapped together without the use of any separate fasteners.
