  • Patent number: 8627610
Abstract: A privacy enhancer is composed of a first strip preferably rigid and a flexible strip. The first strip has a connector located on one edge. An adhesive is provided along the length of the side for attachment to a first or second pilaster of an enclosure. The enhancer includes a second strip preferably a flexible plastic strip preferably nontransparent having a connector located on an edge of the flexible plastic strip. The two connectors are coupled together. The first strip is then attached to the pilaster by contacting the adhesive side of the strip to the pilaster on the side of the pilaster opposite to the direction of movement of the door. The flexible plastic strip closes off the space between the door and the pilaster when the door is closed.

  • Patent number: 8607514
Abstract: A window trim system and method comprises a trim hoop sized to be slid over an outer face of a window frame to the exterior edge of the frame. A stop member formed around the exterior edge abuts and aligns the trim hoop. A friction member may or may not be installed around the inside of the trim hoop to help hold the trim hoop initially in place. Sealant is then applied around the junction of the trim hoop and window frame on the inside of the trim hoop to fix the trim hoop to the window frame and create a seal against air and water infiltration. The resulting window frame and trim assembly is particularly suited for use in an overfit replacement window installation, but may be used in virtually any window installation.

  • Patent number: 8590261
Abstract: In the method for sealing of replacement windows a sealing tape with a first layer of flexible foam and a second layer of stiff material is inserted into a channel-shaped recess in masonry so that the first layer of the sealing tape is oriented toward the bottom of the recess and is at least partially compressed. The expansion of the first layer is temporarily limited by clamping the second layer directly or indirectly against the side walls of the recess, or by use of retaining elements, which exert a retaining function on the second layer. A window frame is installed in an area of the recess during the temporary limitation of the expansion of the first layer of the sealing tape, whereupon the first layer expands further or is allowed to expand further until the sealing tape rests against the window frame.

  • Patent number: 8534012
Abstract: A trim molding structure that uses at least one magnet to attach to a metal frame such as a metal door frame and a metal window frame is presented. At least one magnetic element is affixed to a trim member of a trim molding structure. The magnetic element can be affixed to the trim member using various means such as an adhesive material that loses adhesiveness when its temperature exceeds approximately its temperature limit. When the temperature of the adhesive material exceeds approximately its temperature limit, the adhesive material loses adhesiveness and releases the trim molding structure from the metal frame. An intumescent material that expands when its temperature exceeds approximately its activation temperature can be attached between a trim member and a metal frame. In case of fire, the intumescent material expands and pushes the trim molding structure away from the metal frame when the temperature of the intumescent material exceeds approximately its activation temperature.

Abstract: The invention provides door frame assembly, suitable for hanging a door panel in a number of different positions. The invention is characterised such that a side wall of the frame is routered on front and rear faces, either face adapted to receive one plate of a door hinge. In addition one edge of the door panel is routered across the entire length of the edge to receive a second plate of said hinge, wherein the outer edge of the second plate comprises a bull nosed edge. The advantage of the door frame assembly according to the invention is the routering both sides of the panel allows it to be reversed depending on which way one wishes to hang the door. As the door panel edge is routered across the entire edge allows the hinge to hang the door in the frame in either direction.
