Publication number: 20090025320Abstract: An adjustable door frame system includes at least one vertical frame member having a movable vertical subjamb assembly capable of outward movement relative the vertical frame member. The adjustable door frame system also contains a horizontal frame member having a movable horizontal subjamb assembly capable of outward movement relative the horizontal frame member. The door frame system also contains a plurality of adjusting mechanisms coupling the vertical subjamb assembly and horizontal subjamb assembly to the frame members. Each adjusting mechanism includes a hex nut connected to its subjamb assembly with a hex nut clip, and a hollow set screw and guide tube. Rotation of the hollow set screw causes the hex nut to move axially along the guide tube thereby causing the hex nut clip and its connected subjamb assembly to be adjusted outwardly with respect to the door frame system, thereby filling a gap between its frame member and the wall section.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2008Publication date: January 29, 2009Applicant: Therm-All, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey P. Patent number: 7340866Abstract: A wall adapter system (10) having a wall adapter (12) is disclosed. The wall adapter (12) permits a mullion (16) to be secured to a wall (14) through the wall adapter (12) without the need for trimming or caulking. The wall adapter (12) has a front portion (26) with a mullion snap interlock (56) and first and second side portions (28, 30) with snap cover trim interlocks (68). The mullion (16) is snap fit on the front portion at the interlock (56) while cover trim (70) are snap fit on the side portions (28, 30) at the snap cover trim interlocks (68). The front portion (26) can be formed into parts, a main portion (104) and an adjustment portion (106) which allows the wall adapter to be mounted to a range of wall thicknesses. The wall adapter (12) can be used with a block header (150).Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2001Date of Patent: March 11, 2008Inventor: Donald R. Smith

Patent number: 7162841Abstract: A spring clip having integral, self-penetrating attachment tangs and an orientation tab can be manually installed in a window opening formed by a foam core sandwiched by a pair of OSBs. A first planar surface has a second planar surface attached along one lateral edge thereof and oriented at an angle in the range between 60° and 85°. This spring finger deflects out of the way permitting the window's insertion, snapping back to engage a vertically extending flange on the window to retain it in the opening. A modified spring clip for use with solid wood headers and sills utilized with multi-unit windows is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2004Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Inventor: Charles D. Patent number: 7086204Abstract: A closure (10) for a building which is inhibitive to explosive effects and with which an opening in a building can be closed off comprises a filling (3) as well as frame elements (1, 2) which enclose the same substantially in a circular fashion. Said frame elements (1, 2) are connected in a non-positive way by means of fastening elements with parts (6) of the building which are adjacent to the opening. In order to achieve a secure connection which withstands high loads between the closure (10) and the part (6) of the building made of building materials of low strength, it is proposed rectangular brackets (4) are fastened to the frame elements (1) on at least two opposite sides of the closure (10). At least one tensile leg (7) each of the brackets (4) extends close to the reveal (L) of the opening. At least one supporting leg (8) each of the brackets (4) extends at a distance from the visible side (9) of the part (6) of the building adjacent to the opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2003Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Assignee: Sälzer Sicherheitstechnik GmbHInventor: Heinrich Sälzer

Patent number: 7051480Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for eliminating ice formation at roof edging comprising a mesh casing and salt-based fill material. The apparatus may be placed into a typical gutter assembly adjacent a roof edge. The casing is flexible and biodegradable and comprises a salt-retaining surface, a matter-engaging surface, and a plurality of mesh apertures. The mesh apertures each comprise a maximal aperture dimension. The fill material comprises a plurality of salt pellets, each pellet comprising a minimal pellet dimension. The minimal pellet dimension is greater in magnitude than the maximal aperture dimension and thus the fill material is retained by the salt-retaining surface. A portion of the fill material dissolves in water when water contacts the fill material thus forming a flowable solution. The solution inherently has a depressed freezing point for preventing ice formation. Thus, the water-based solution flowing from the apparatus functions to eliminate ice at roof edging.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2005Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Inventor: William D. Dennis

Patent number: 6938380Abstract: This invention relates to a cost saving way of solving a difficult problem in the structure and installation and leveling of an elevator sill. This invention provides ease of installing from the hallway without the use of a moving elevator platform. The structure consists of a sill, a cradle for the sill and a pair of end brackets for supporting the cradle. The pair of spaced L-shaped end brackets are provided for attachment to the hall floor. A vertically adjustable sill cradle is supported at its end portions by the brackets and a horizontally and vertically adjustable sill is mounted on the sill cradle. The elevator door sill cradle is adjustable vertically by means of fasteners that are moveable in vertical slots in the end brackets and is horizontally adjustable on the cradle by means of fasteners that are moveable in horizontal slots provided in the cradle.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2002Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Inventors: Harold S.
