Abstract: [Object] To provide a door frame structure and a method for mounting the door frame structure which improve rigidity, prevent deformation that is caused by relative story displacement of a building in the event of an earthquake, and enable easy mounting. [Solution Means] A door frame structure 1 is indirectly mounted to a wall surface 4 via mounting angles 11 fixed to the first reinforcing members 9. Therefore, the door frame structure 1 does not follow relative story displacement of the wall surface 4 caused by lateral vibration in the event of an earthquake, so that deformation of the door frame structure 1 is minimized, and a door 31 can be opened and closed even in an emergency.

Thus, in certain example instances, the need for tacks (or carpet tack strip(s)) proximate the threshold can be reduced and/or eliminated. In certain example embodiments of this invention, the threshold structure may include a locating bracket that is provided proximate the door frame for frame alignment and security purposes, and/or one or more pans located under the threshold for locating and/or securing purposes. Levelers, shims and/or the like may be used in certain example embodiments in order to compensate for non-level flooring proximate the door.

Abstract: Pieces that are components of a frame for a window having a threat side and a safe side include a base and a pressure plate that together form part of one of a sill section, a head section, and a jamb section of the window. The base and pressure plate are elongated in a longitudinal direction. The base has (1) an L-shaped cross-section at a near portion of the base to receive an end of a glazing unit from the threat side of the window, and (2) a first pocket formed in a far portion of the base and running in said longitudinal direction. The rear portion is closer to the threat side than the far portion. The pressure plate is to be assembled with the base so as to secure the glazing unit in the corner. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A clamp frame is disclosed for securing a window frame in a building structure opening by hand without using fasteners. The clamp frame comprises a unitary extruded plastic member that defines a cross section having an integrally formed connection element that mates with a complementarily shaped portion of a window frame to connect the clamp frame and the window frame without fasteners along the length of the clamp frame. The cross section includes a clamp element having at least a leg and a lever. The leg and lever are each connected to the connection element by a living hinge and are movable relative to the connection element between an open position and an overlapping locked position, which results in a clamp load holding together the clamp frame and window frame without the use of fasteners. One end of the leg of the clamp element is constantly urged against the building structure by the lever when the clamp element is in the locked position.
