  • Patent number: 6256935
Abstract: A modular medical gas services unit with multiple medical gas outlets supported at the same level on the column. The unit preferably comprises a hollow column with an internal space for housing the gas conduits and power lines. The medical gas supply outlets are mounted so that their longitudinal axes extend radially from the vertical axis of the frame, and the longitudinal axes of adjacent outlets intersect to form an acute angle. In this way, the horizontal dimensions of the column can be minimized while the number of medical gas outlets at the desired height is maximized. In one embodiment, the column is pentagonal in cross-section providing five planar support surfaces for five medical gas outlets. In another embodiment, a square column is equipped with angled outlet panels, each supporting two medical gas outlets. Thus, though the frame is four-sided, as many as eight medical gas outlets can be mounted at the same height on the frame.

  • Publication number: 20010001355
Abstract: A seal structure for sealing between a through hole and a conduit located in the through hole. The seal structure includes a conduit located in the through hole and a foaming material. A wire is inserted in the conduit. The foaming material is located between the outer surface of the conduit and the inner surface of the through hole. The foaming material expands when heated and seals the space between the outer surface of the conduit and the inner surface of the through hole. Both ends of the conduit are sealed with a fireproof material between the inner surface of the conduit and the outer surface of the wire.

  • Patent number: 6216406
Abstract: A baseboard infrastructure system is described having baseboard members and premise hubs. The baseboard member is formed to conceal and protect cables or wires installed within a channel region formed between the baseboard and a wall the baseboard is mounted against. The baseboard member has an integrated connector assembly ICA for connection of external wires and cables with the wires and cables contained within the channel region of the baseboard member. An ICA having an ICA plate with jacks or connectors mounted thereon is formed to allow vertical connection of wires or cables. An ICA cap formed to match the shape of the top of the baseboard mounts in the ICA when the ICA is not used for connection of cables or wires. Multiple baseboard members are mounted within a room or rooms to a building, thereby concealing the wiring of the room and providing ICAs for connection of wires and cables.

  • Patent number: 6205729
Abstract: An asymmetric structural insulated panel for building construction includes a generally planar insulating foam core such as of expanded polystyrene, urethane or polyisocyanurate plastic. Adhered to a first surface of the insulating foam core is an outer facing of a conventional building material such as wood, oriented strand board (OSB), gypsum composite or cement. Adhered to a second opposed surface of the insulating foam core by a conventional adhesive is a thin, high strength sheet of paper impregnated with plastic such as polyisocyanurate. The plastic impregnated paper provides a high tensile strength for the structural insulated panel to accommodate large transverse loads on the panel. Elongated “nailing” members may be affixed in a spaced manner to the inner or outer surface of the plastic impregnated paper to also provide this surface of the panel with high compressive strength and to permit the panel to withstand large axial loads.

  • Patent number: 6176057
Abstract: A weakened building member, having a building component running through an opening in it, is strengthened by reinforcing members attached to the building member that accommodate the presence of the building component. The reinforcing members are attached to the building member by fasteners or adhesives. The reinforcing members attach to at least one side of the building member. They extend from areas above the opening in the building member to areas below it, and pass around opposite sides of the building component. The reinforcing members can be positioned relative to each other prior to installation in such a manner as to allow the reinforcing members to slide around a building component that has already been run through the building member near their point of attachment to the building member.
