The building panel includes an upper layer arrangement, a lower layer arrangement, and a balancing layer provided between the lower and the upper layer arrangement. The building panel further includes a groove arrangement including grooves. A thermoplastic-based building panel including an upper layer arrangement and a balancing layer which is a bottom layer of the building panel. The building panel includes a groove arrangement, wherein a major portion of the grooves therein is provided in the balancing layer only. A thermoplastic-based building panel including a mechanical locking system for horizontally and/or vertically locking the building panel to an adjacent building panel. The mechanical locking system includes a cooperating surface which is situated in a balancing layer and is configured to cooperate with a cooperating surface of an adjacent building panel.

By way of a non-limiting example, an edge trim for pieces of furniture having an exposed edge of wooden or wood substitute material is described, comprising a molten layer and a structural layer, wherein the structural layer and the molten layer are connected in an adhesive bond, wherein the molten layer is made of a material that is chemically modified such that polar and non-polar components are found in a single molecular structure, wherein the molten layer contains energy absorbing additives, wherein the energy absorbing additives of the molten layer are selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal phosphates, metal salts of organic anions and combinations thereof.

Abstract: A decorative molding located on the interior surface of a wall configured to releasably secure an object adjacent to the interior surface of the wall. The decorative molding further includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion is configured with a laterally oriented channel that is substantially the length of the body. A plurality of slots perpendicularly engage the channel and function to receive therein a suspension member. The suspension member is configured with a first end operable to engage the channel and extend downward through the slot. The suspension member has a second end distal from the first end that is configured to releasably receive an object thereon so as to suspend against the surface of the wall to which the molding is mounted.

Abstract: A two-part molding system for use in connection with a floor and wall. The two-part molding system comprises a mounting portion having a back surface, a front surface, a top side and a bottom side. A projection or abutment is provided on the front surface of the mounting portion which has an underside for defining a receiving area. A molding portion is provided which has a back surface, a front surface, a top side, a bottom side and a toe. The top side defines a surface for engaging with and corresponding with the receiving area of said underside of the projection or abutment. The molding portion engages with the mounting portion to create a compression engagement between the molding portion and the floor.

Abstract: A method for installing wall panels to a wall of a building is provided. The method applies the rainscreen principle. Interlocking components are used to attach aluminum or other wall panels to an exterior wall. In one aspect, the method includes operatively connecting a plurality of attachment clips to a wall surface of the exterior building wall. The method also includes providing a first panel perimeter strip and a second panel perimeter strip. The first panel perimeter strip is fastened to a first wall panel along a first side surface of the first wall panel, while the second panel perimeter strip is fastened to a second wall panel along a first side surface of the second wall panel. The method then includes sliding the first panel perimeter strip onto a first wing member of an attachment clip, thereby connecting the first wall panel to the wall, and sliding the second panel perimeter strip onto a second opposing wing member of the attachment clip, thereby connecting the second wall panel to the wall.

Abstract: A structure to form flooring transitions having outer surfaces comprising two disparate materials. In a preferred embodiment the flooring transitions includes a T-shaped molding and at least one attachment thereto. The outer surfaces of the T-molding and attachment may be comprised of different materials, even though they may sometimes have the same pattern or décor. For example, the T-molding may have a surface of real wood or veneer and the attachment may have an outer surface of abrasion resistant foil, metal, or even a visual perception element, such as lights or reflective tape. A kit is also disclosed.

Abstract: A crown molding fastener has a connector portion connected to a mount portion. The mount portion has a tail connected to a foot. The foot is connected such as by adhering and/or anchoring to a rear side of crown molding. The connector portion has a base connected to at least one of a wall and a ceiling. The connector portion connects to a clamp. The clamp receives the tail there through and upon pulling the tail a desired amount, a tension is applied between the foot and the clamp such as by providing a resilient tail and/or a spring member between the base and the clamp.

The tongue and groove joint is formed by at least one longitudinal groove in an underside of the covering flange for retaining a tongue in the compensating strip, all sections of the covering flange lying flat over the floor covering they cover.

Abstract: A skirting has a profiled rail which forms an accommodating area for a covering. The accommodating area has an opening, through which a visible side of a covering can be seen. The profiled rail has stops on both sides of the opening which are drawn towards said opening. In this case, the opening is dimensioned so as to be smaller than the width of the covering. The covering is pressed against the stops by a spring. In order that it is also possible to use flexible coverings, such as those made of textile materials, for example, at least one plate is provided between the spring and the covering. This plate keeps the covering in a flat configuration.

Abstract: An assembly for cooling a penetrant from the non-fire side of a barrier and to extend the time that a firestop prevents the passage of flames and hot gases of a through penetration firestop installation. The present invention includes an encapsulation wrap that is positioned adjacent to and surrounding a penetrant or conduit. The encapsulation wrap comprises a plurality of individual coolant packages, each of which contains purified water or other appropriate coolant. An exterior banding structure is provided which is positioned adjacent to the encapsulation wrap and includes a plurality of vents to improve its heat dissipation properties and may include exterior fins. The encapsulation wrap and exterior banding are positioned and held in place by a hose clamp or other suitable attachment means. The packets of coolant are engineered to release a controlled amount of coolant when the coolant and/or penetrant achieves a predetermined temperature.

Abstract: There is a frame casing kit configured to couple to a door frame, including a plurality of casing strips; wherein each of the casing strips are non-ductile. Each of the plurality of casing strips includes ends shaped to couple together to form a complete covering of a rectangular frame. Abstract: A decorative system is provided which consists of a decorative assembly, which is in at least tow parts having a first elongate member and a second elongate member. The parts cooperate with each other and a support means, which is adapted for attachment to a wall to provide support for the assembly. The elongate members are adapted to be attached to the support means in positions such that they are both in contact with the support and in part are both in contact with the wall. The assembly is easy to adjust in-situ, easy to assemble and is easy to replace with minimum disruption to flooring and decoration.

Abstract: A system for installing pre-painted moldings. The system includes pre-painted moldings each configured to be fastened to a wall by fasteners. The system also includes a caulk material, filler material, concealer material, and touchup paint each color matched to the paint color applied to the moldings. The caulk material is configured to fill a gap defined between each of the moldings and the wall to which the molding is fastened. The filler material is configured to fill a gap defined between any abutting portions of the moldings. The concealer material is configured to conceal any surface disturbances caused by the installation of the fasteners. The touchup paint is configured to adhere to the paint pre-painted on the moldings. The system may also include a marker configured to apply a coating color matched to the paint applied to the moldings, a scraping tool, and/or a buffing tool.

Each channel on the planar surface shall mate with the flat right angle corners of the preexisting molding. Such attachments thereby form corners that have a channel and cutout.

On the underside of the decorative strip there is a longitudinally extending cutout with a cross-sectional constriction.

Abstract: A decorative doorway insert for enhancing the look of a doorway. The doorway insert is provided for easy, non-destructive installation. The doorway insert is adjustable such that it is easily mounted within door openings of varying widths, and is removable in order to conveniently and inexpensively alter the look of the doorway as desired. The doorway insert is installed and removed without the need of tools, thus allowing it to be installed and removed quickly and easily by almost anyone. A trim assembly serves to hide this interior material while also forming corners that may be formed of a different material such as aluminum and thereby give a distinct unique appearance. The trim assembly includes an extruded rail, which receives a laminate insert, or includes a deeper extrusion having a thick insert with a finish surface applied thereto.

Each pilaster assembly comprises a base and a cover element affixed to the base wherein each of the bases has a plurality of regularly repeating reinforced structural sections. At least two pilaster cover plates are provided, each pilaster cover plate is affixed to and covering one of the first and second pilaster bases.

Abstract: The invention is a joint cover assembly for covering a gap adjacent an edge of a panel that covers a sub-surface, and a method of covering such a gap. The assembly includes a molding having a foot, a first arm, and a second arm. The foot is positioned along a longitudinal axis of the molding, and the first arm extends generally perpendicularly to the foot. The second arm may also extend generally perpendicularly to the foot. A tab depends from at least one of the first and second arms. At least one of the tab and the foot engage a track in order to position the assembly over the gap. The method includes the steps of placing the foot in the gap, pressing the respective panel engaging surfaces into contact with respective panels, and configuring at least one of the tab and the foot to cooperate to retain the molding in the gap when the assembly is in an installed condition.

In one embodiment, a cornice comprises a horizontal base unit having a face section, a top and a bottom, and one or more interchangeable decorative modules. A decorative centerpiece for the cornice is also disclosed. Additionally, the disclosure includes novel means for attaching particular components to one another. In the preferred embodiments, the components are wood.

Abstract: An elongated horizontal transitional trim product includes an elongated, molded, horizontally-positionable stiffening block. The block has a flat, vertical back surface; a flat, horizontal top surface; a flat, horizontal bottom surface; and a front surface. The front surface extends between an outer edge proximate to the top surface and an outer edge proximate to the bottom surface, and has a cross-sectional profile that includes a plurality of interconnected curved and vertical and horizontal flat surfaces. The stiffening block is capable of being secured directly to a flat, vertical surface of a building. The trim product further includes an elongated deformable metallic sheet terminating in respective upper and lower end sections located above and below a central section. The central section of the metallic sheet includes a plurality of interconnected, continuous surfaces in its cross-sectional profile which mate and snugly fit with the cross-sectional profile of the stiffening block.

Abstract: The present invention provides a pasteless wall covering system in which wall covering becomes easily installable, removable, changeable and reusable without damaging walls. A wall covering border is attached to, or made from, a semi-rigid paper stock and is held on the wall by a holder with channels. The holder can be created by scoring and folding a top and bottom channel. The holder can be attached to the wall by stapling, adhesives or other attachment means.

Abstract: The plant-on trim elements are trim elements attached to door and window openings or elsewhere on a building made of stucco or similar material. The plant-ons have a foraminous lath shell and a mating core, with the core having one or more (preferably a series of) reliefs formed therein, e.g. along the outer corners of the core. The reliefs allow stucco or other suitable material to flow completely through the foraminous lath and encapsulate the lath at the relief areas, thereby providing a much stronger bond between the coating material and the underlying lath shell. The foraminous material may be expanded metal or metal or plastic screen, while the core may be formed of foam plastic, wood, or other suitable material.

Abstract: A fenestration brickmould having an integral J-channel formed therein, along with a fastening and flashing flange extending therefrom, such that the brickmould may be attached to the perimeter of the fenestration assembly and may become an integral part thereof. Accordingly, the fenestration assembly, in combination with the brickmould of the present invention, preferably are attached to the frame of the building as a single unit. The J-channel is formed between the flange and the decoratively molded portion for receiving a variety of sidings, including, but not limited to, vinyl, cementious siding, and wood. The present invention eliminates the need for separate J-channel attachments when utilizing vinyl siding.

The contoured top surface has at least a first and second raised portion extending along the top surface. The first and second raised portions have a first and a second predetermined height and form a recessed portion. A raised decorative portion is formed on at least a portion of the recessed portion and has a height that is less than the smaller of the first and second predetermined heights. A decorative door is also provided that includes a generally rectangular frame and an interior panel connected to the frame. The frame includes at least one panel having the contoured surface. The contoured surface has first and second raised portions having first and second predetermined heights. The first and second raised portions form a recessed portion. A raised decorative portion is formed on at least a portion of the recessed portion and has a height that is less than the smaller of the first and second predetermined heights.

Abstract: This invention relates to window and door assemblies, and particularly to a fastening member for fastening a first frame element of the assembly to a second frame element of the assembly. The fastening member can comprise a base, a first retaining member presented by the base to attach the fastening member to the first frame element, and a second retaining member presented by the base to attach the fastening member to the second frame element. Moreover, at least one of the first and second retaining members is adapted to attach the respective first and second frame element to the fastening member in sliding fit. Further, this invention discloses a method of attaching a first frame element of a window and door assembly to a second frame element of the assembly, particularly where the first frame element and the second frame element have differing rates of expansion and contraction along at least one given direction.
