Trim Strip With Filler Strip Patents (Class 52/312)
  • Patent number: 5079880
Abstract: A trim for trimming out or finishing contemporary, one-piece fiberglass and acrylic bathtubs and shower stalls. The trim comprises framing pieces which are positioned around the edges of the surrounding wall portion of a bathtub or shower stall after the bathtub has been installed. A large flange portion of each of the framing pieces is secured to the wood stud framing or wall by wood screws. The larger flange portion and a small flange portion extend from a base portion and form a cavity for receiving an edge of a dry wall sheet. The trim may include separate finishing pieces which snap-on to an outer surface of the small flange portion of the framing pieces. Alternatively, the small flange portion of the framing pieces may be formed with a finished surface thereby dispensing with the need for separate finishing pieces.

  • Patent number: 5077950
Abstract: A simulated windowpane molding is achieved by inner and outer elongated members adapted to be placed in facing relationship upon opposite sides of a windowglass. Each elongated member has a flat surface adapted to fit flush against the windowglass. Magnetic holding structure in the form of a strip of plastic material containing a ferromagnetic powder, or a series of permanent magnets in bar form is disposed upon the flat surface of at least one elongated member. The flat surface of the other elongated member is either equipped with the same magnetic holding structure or material, such as iron, which is attracted by a magnet. When the two elongated members are brought into facing, mirror-image juxtaposition upon an intervening windowglass, the force of attraction between the two members is sufficient to cause the members to be securely positioned upon the windowglass.

  • Patent number: 4704834
Abstract: A raised panel-style door and method of making same are described. The structure includes a solid core having a planar veneer support surface regularly interrupted by channels extending in a rectangular course. The channels are inlaid with picture frames formed of decorative wood strips having marginal edges in the plane of the veneer support surface and being recessed therebetween. When overlaid with veneer, surface regions outside the picture frames are made to look like stiles and rails, while those inside are made to look like panels. The door may also have an internal fire-retardant layer.

  • Patent number: 4627204
Abstract: A simulated log end is produced from side panels including one or more transversely aligned and oppositely facing courses of preformed log siding. Front and back panels space the side panels apart so that the longitudinal axis of the siding outer faces is centered between the side panels. A visual pattern of concentric rings on the front panel simulates the growth rings of logs having the diameter of the partial cylindrical outer surfaces of the siding courses. The simulated log end unit can be used individually as a projection from a wall covered with preformed log siding, or can be arranged in vertical columns to simulate conventional log building corner joints.

  • Patent number: 4504168
Abstract: Structure for connecting two members together, each including parallel, spaced apart, oppositely disposed, opposed surfaces having a cross section including a short straight portion adjacent one edge thereof, a longer obliquely extending portion extending from the other edge thereof and merging with an arcuate connecting portion which intersects the shorter straight portion, which surfaces are complementary and arranged to be in engagement with the members assembled. In one modification of the invention, the oblique portion of the surface cross section starts prior to the plane of the short straight line portion of the cross section and crosses it prior to merging with the connecting portion of the cross section.

  • Patent number: 4491615
Abstract: A composite molding structure having transverse flexibility for forming curved architectural moldings and display enclosures comprises a plurality of elongate, flexible elements slidably interconnected in side by side relation with their longitudinal axes lying parallel to each other. Each element has a pair of flanges extending from opposite sides of a longitudinally extending web portion, the flanges defining together with the web portion a longitudinally extending channel conforming to the cross-sectional configuration of a flange of an adjacent element. The flange is keyed into the channel and is slidable therein upon transverse flexing of the assembled molding structure.

  • Patent number: 4333288
Abstract: A beveled edge trim structure for counters, such as kitchen counters, includes a beveled inlay groove cut along an edge of the counter. A laminate inlay strip is adhesively bonded in the inlay groove. A first router tool includes guide surfaces which guide a first high speed cutting element along straight and rounded edges of the counter, cutting beveled inlay grooves along the edges. For right angle corners, a jig is attached to a partially installed inlay strip after alignment of a pair of inclined guide edges of the jig with corresponding inclined end edges of the beveled inlay groove. A second routing tool is guided along the inclined guide edges of the jig, cutting a beveled pointed end on the inlay strip. The beveled pointed end is aligned with the corresponding edges of the corner inlay groove.

  • Patent number: 4235949
Abstract: An automotive trim strip laminate formed of a strip of polyester material bearing a layer of metallic material covered by a thin polyvinyl chloride layer bonded to a supporting substrate of a flexible plasticized polyvinyl chloride material is made so that the laminate can be thermally bonded to a support material along a curved path without any irregularity, which is recognized as caused by compression wrinkling from thermal stress along radially inner regions of the curved path. This is prevented by selecting the polyester strip and the thin polyvinyl chloride layer with physical characteristics and dimensions to provide the metallized polyester strip with sufficient dimensional stability relative to the polyvinyl chloride substrate to prevent any such compression wrinkling, and one preferred way is to make the thin polyvinyl chloride layer substantially unplasticized and formed of a smooth, medium impact material.

  • Patent number: 4008551
Abstract: Structural and decorative boards laminated with a hard plastic veneer are given a relief appearance by forming a rabbeted groove, preferably rectangular in outline, and mounting therein tapered laminated strips having a thickness along one edge substantially corresponding to the depth of the groove and along the opposite narrow edge being substantially flush with the base of the groove. The entire panel thus presents a relief configuration while the exposed surfaces are covered by the plastic veneer. The panels may be used for doors used in kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and the like.
