Shear-resisting Means Between Sustainer And Barrier Patents (Class 52/334)
  • Patent number: 11725386
Abstract: A structural member section is provided that may be comprised of horizontal top and bottom flange elements interconnected by one or more vertical web member. The top flange of the member is serrated such that a series of serrations protrude horizontally in at least one direction from a top of the one or more vertical web member or are cut-out from the flange of a rolled shape. In one embodiment, the serrated top flange and at least a portion of the web member are intended to be encased by a horizontal concrete slab or slab-on-deck assembly. The slab material is capable of encasing all exposed surfaces of and curing around each serration to transfer horizontal shear forces between the serrated top flange and the slab material such that the member and slab behave compositely without needing additional reinforcing located within the voids between serrations.

Abstract: The present subject matter relates to systems, assemblies, and methods for connecting structural members together. A connector assembly includes an elongated track having a web, opposed edge portions that extend from a first surface of the web and that form a pair of slide channels, and one or more protrusions protruding from a second surface of the web opposing the first surface, the one or more protrusions being configured to connect to the first building member. A connecting member is adapted to connect to the second building member and includes a base that retains the connecting member to the channels but is movable within the channels along the track. In this configuration, when the connector assembly is connected between the first and second building members, the connecting member is movable in the track in response to relative movement between the first and second building members.

  • Patent number: 7836646
Abstract: A wall structure of an architecture is provided, which comprises an outer wall having resistance against earthquakes and wind and an inner wall relatively inferior in the earthquake-resistance and so forth, so that the outer and inner walls are properly combined to share design loads. The wall structure includes the outer wall (2) of bricklaying structure in which bricks (A˜D) and metal plates (51) are stacked. Fasteners (60,62,63,70) extending through the bolt holes (7) of the bricks are tightened, and the vertically adjacent bricks are integrally connected with each other under prestress of the fasteners. The inner wall (3) is constructed inside of the outer wall, and the shear reinforcement member (10,20) connects the inner and outer walls with each other. The inner wall is constructed by a dry type of construction method, which can support a permanent vertical load such as a roof load.

  • Patent number: 7645503
Abstract: The invention herein pertains to pavement marking patterns and the application thereof to roads, streets, walkways and the like. Various pattern designs for the markings are available to replicate layers of bricks, cobblestones, horizontal signage, logos and other components. The marking patterns are composed of two or more independent sections, the first section is a grid representing for example, the mortar joints in a brick wall. The second sections or inserts, for example represent bricks which are contained within the grid. As the first and second sections are generally formed from different colored, preferably thermoplastic materials, a hot melt adhesive spray is utilized on the bottom surface of the marking pattern to bridge the intersections between the first and second sections to maintain the integrity of the marking pattern for convenience during handling and application to a substrate.

Abstract: Composite pan end connections for composite beam-joist construction are disclosed. Two versions of the composite pan can be fabricated on a standard break machine. A third version disclosed makes use of a standard steel stud. All three versions provide an economical, easily installed horizontal platform secured to the top chord seat angles of either conventional or composite open-web joists. In addition to economy in fabrication, and ease of use, the resulting rectangular shape of the concrete slab over the beam is structurally more efficient than heretofore obtainable.

Abstract: Tubular beams for building frames include laser-cut ends to form highly-accurate integrally-formed tab connectors for connecting the beams together and to other building beams. The tab connectors are integrally formed of continuous and contiguous material of the metal beam and are spaced apart to closely engage a second beam for secure and reliable and stress-distributed connection. The tab connectors can be formed and/or bent to define a pocket oriented at a desired angle for receiving a mating beam, such as for supporting a roof truss at a desired pitch. Fasteners extend through holes in the tabs and into or through the second beam for securing the beams together. The tab connectors can be cut to many different shapes, formed to any orientation, and made to accurately mate with corresponding structure of the mating second beam, regardless of the angle and size of the two beams.
