Abstract: A sealing element for the recessed seat of an expansion joint in a concrete structure having an elastomeric profile (20) formed by two longitudinal lateral flanges (21) to be fixed to the end edges of the concrete structure (11), and a central portion (22) formed by walls depending from said flanges and converging to a central area to be fitted inside the seat (12), and shaped to support the hydrostatic pressure upstream of the concrete structure (10). A flexible duct (30) is installed inside the seat (12) below the central portion central area and provided with radial bores (31) opened to the inside of the seat to allow the selective feeding of precatalyzed polymeric resin to the inside of the seat (12), after the elastomeric profile (20) has been mounted and affixed to the concrete structure (10). The tube can be separate from the profile, attached to the central area, or the central area can have a W shape and the tube be within the lower portion of the W.

Abstract: Transition profile (2) for floors, preferably hard floors comprising a number of joined floor elements which together forms a floor section (1). A transition profile (2) is arranged on one end of a floor section (1) or between two floor sections (1). The transition profile (2) includes an assembly profile (3) and a covering profile (4), whereby the covering profile (4) via a base member (40) is attached to the assembly profile (3) which in its turn is mounted on a foundation (10). The base member (40) is shaped as a longitudinal profile with a, also longitudinal, pivot axle (41). Edge members (42)on the base member (40) have a mainly radial cross section. The assembly profile (3)is provided with two, upwardly directed and mainly parallel cheeks (31) which cheeks (31) are intended to clutch the base member (40) whereby the cover profile (4) can be continuously adapted to height variations in the subfloor, by allowing turning around the pivot axle (41).

Abstract: An expansion joint cover (10) broadly comprises a cover plate (38) to cover an expansion joint (12) between a first and second surface (14,16), an anchor assembly (40) to secure the plate (38) to the first surface (14), an insert (46) to protect the second surface (16), and one or more resilient bushings (48) to isolate the plate (38) from the anchor assembly (40). Under adverse conditions, such as during seismic events, the surfaces (14,16) may move significantly with respect to one another, thereby causing the plate (38) to slide over the second surface (16) and the insert (46) and deform the bushings (48). Thus, the flexibility of the plate (38), the durability of the insert (46), and the resilience of the bushings (48) all cooperate to allow the cover (10) to minimize stresses otherwise transferred to the anchor assembly (40).

Abstract: A joint cover includes rails attached to the right and left building portions adjacent sides of the joint parts between the right and left building members. At least two or more support members are disposed across a joint gap at a sloping state, both ends thereof being supported movably by the rails attached to the side walls pairs. A plurality of support bars for retaining joint plates is provided pivotably at a fixed interval on the support members. The plurality of joint plates is attached to the support bars respectively, each joint plate being overlapping at a fixed width and being maintaining a overlapping state when the width of the joint gap between the two building members expands or contracts, so that the transportation and assembly operation can be done efficiently, and the joint cover can move smoothly following swing and oscillation movement due to earthquake, or the like.

Abstract: A vee joint having a first flange hingedly connected to a second flange at an angle. A trough is formed between the first flange and the second flange and is used to retain joint filler within a joint interval in a concrete floor slab. The flanges are movable to facilitate the placement and retention of the vee joint within various sized joints in concrete slab flooring. When the vee joint is placed within a joint interval, the flanges may be spaced varying distances apart to accommodate joint filler therebetween and to intimately engage with the confronting walls of the floor slab to avoid bypass of joint fill material.

  • Patent number: 6389774
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to joint restraining systems for concrete constructions. In one embodiment, the present invention is a novel method for creating joint restraints that employs a pipe dowel. As more fully described below, the present invention substantially reduces the time and labor involved in tying a series of parallel dowels into a rebar matrix. For example, the present invention eliminates the need to cut out sections of rebar. Rather, embodiments of the present invention require only a single cut in each rebar section along the line of the intended joint, rather than two cuts to remove a section of rebar. The present invention also eliminates the time and effort associated with tying dowels into the rebar matrix. In another embodiment, the present invention is a novel pipe dowel mechanism that, in addition to the advantages described above, obviates the need to apply a messy protective coating, such as grease, to a smooth dowel.

  • Patent number: 6336300
Abstract: Various embodiments of a sealing device serve to preclude the passage of water and debris between the conventional gaps in a deck. The water sealing device comprises an elongated member preferably formed of natural rubber with weather and ultraviolet resisting additives, but may be formed alternatively of vinyl or other resilient plastic materials as desired. In each embodiment, the seal has a pair of upwardly extending flanges along the top of each opposed edge. The sealing device fits tightly within the gap between the boards of a deck, preventing the passage of water and/or other debris between the boards. The flanges are biased outwardly, creating a watertight seal between the boards and the sealing device. Further sealing may be provided by the use of an adhesive and/or caulking compound at the time of installation of the seals, as desired.

The clasp has resilient arms and a head. Insertion of the resilient arms of the clasp into the receptacle draws the head towards the base, which produces a clamping action. Alternatively, the clamp assembly includes a channel having sidewalls attached to a base and at least one fastener having a blade-like shank and a head. The sidewalls converge so as to be more closely spaced together at the opening of the channel than at its base. The at least one fastener appears. T-shaped in cross section, and is sized so that insertion of the blade-like shank into the channel widens the opening. Alternatively, the clamp assembly includes a first clamping piece and a second clamping piece configured to cooperatively engage each other.
