The panels are made of lignocellulosic material. The water resistant and skid resistant surface may include indicia for aligning strips of tape or for aligning fasteners. A method for manufacturing the water resistant building panels is also disclosed and includes the steps of feeding paper onto a forming belt, depositing lignocellulosic material and the binding agent onto the forming belt so as to form a lignocellulosic mat, applying heat and pressure so as to impart the skid resistant surface on the paper, and cutting panels to predetermined sizes.

  • Patent number: 7926442
Abstract: A container is provided having a periphery and a base, which enclose a cavity. The periphery and the base are connected together, the periphery upwardly extending from the base. The periphery has a first slot and a substantially opposing second slot. Each of the first and second slots is sized to permit a first end of a tape located on a roll to be slid through it. A tape holder may be connected to the container so that the tape holder lies outside of the cavity of the container. The roll of tape can be placed on the tape holder so when the tape is pulled through the “mud box”, the tape is thereby unwound. As the tape is manually pulled through the “mud box”, joint compound is thinly applied to one side of the tape. As this is done, the joint compound begins to “adhere” to the tape, conditioning the tape for excellent wall adhesion.

  • Patent number: 7866100
Abstract: The invention comprises a wall sheathing barrier system having moisture permeability and simple improved installation method. The system comprises adjoined structural panels. Each panel has an overlay paper bonded permanently to the structural panel, which provides a moisture permeable barrier and a textured skid-resistant surface. The skid resistant surface may include indicia for aligning strips of tape or for aligning fasteners. Further, the seams of adjoining panels are sealed with a sealing means to complete the moisture barrier.

  • Patent number: 7836652
Abstract: Buildings and walls are commonly constructed with exterior walls composed of specially treated engineered wood panels, cement panels, fiber cement panels, glass-matt-faced gypsum panels, and gypsum/cellulose sheathing panels. The spaces or edges between these exterior panels are sealed using the disclosed dual-tape-core joint treatment system and method of the present invention. After curing, a color matching acrylic-epoxy scratch coat or elastomeric primer followed by a textured finish coat is sprayed, brushed or rolled on the exterior panels.

  • Patent number: 7788865
Abstract: A drywall trimming element for bridging two sections of drywall is an extruded element having first and second opposing flanges each having an interior surface and an exterior surface. The element is secured to the drywall by joint compound. The interior surfaces are adapted to be positioned on or adjacent to a respective one of the drywall surfaces. The interior and exterior surfaces each define respective surface planes. One or both of the interior and exterior surfaces have a plurality of upstanding longitudinally oriented ribs extending outwardly from the surface. The ribs extend away from their respective surfaces and define a void space between the surface adjacent to the ribs and an end of the ribs, such that a line extending outwardly from and normal to the surface of the flange adjacent to the ribs traverses through the void space and then subsequently contacts the ribs. The void space serves to provide a joint compound locking feature for the trimming element.

  • Patent number: 7591113
Abstract: Plasterboard is surfaced with a lining paper which is printed over the whole of one face of the board using an ink containing binder and particulate solid material, applied with a density of print such that under optically examination at least 80% of the surface of the lining paper is covered by the applied print. The particulate material has a d50 denotes a number length mean particle size such that 50% of particles have volume smaller than a sphere of diameter d50. The colour of the printed lining paper can be matched to the colour of a jointing compound used as a filler between the edges of adjacent boards. The material of d50 mean particle size in the range from 1 to 10 micrometers gives the lining paper a surface texture resembling that of jointing compounds and so reduces or removes contrasts, notably in absorbency, reflectance and gloss, between the surface of the boards and the surface of the jointing compound between boards.
