Patent number: 4899647Abstract: Ventilator system includes an external panel and interior baffle defining a plurality of vertically spaced air chambers vertically sealed from one another to prevent water droplets in any one of the air chambers from draining into the lower air chambers. Air passages in the baffle communicate with the respective air chambers at a higher elevation than air passages in the panel. The air stream entering the air chambers through the panel swirls and slows down prior to being discharged through the baffle. Also, side cavities communicate the ends of the air chambers with each other and with a catch basin below the air chambers. Within the air chambers are flap valves which close off the baffle air passages when the force of an air stream entering the air chambers through the panel exceeds a predetermined level to prevent water blow-through under high wind conditions.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1988Date of Patent: February 13, 1990Assignee: Webb Mfg., Inc.Inventors: Ray W. Patent number: 4733515Abstract: In a fastening arrangement for louver slats arranged below one another on a facade supporting structure, with supporting profiles which extend perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the louver and to which are fastened brackets which hold the slats in at least two places and which have a leg resting against the supporting profile and a leg projecting at an angle from the supporting profile, assembly without a tool becomes possible and a specific distance between the slats is set automatically if the supporting profile (4) is designed as a rail, in the longitudinal direction of which the brackets (2) are held displaceably by means of extensions (3) on the legs (5) resting against the supporting profile (4), and if the extensions (3) have, at the bottom end of the bracket (2), a receiving space (15), into which a filler piece (19) of the lower bracket (2) can be pushed with a clamping effect.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1986Date of Patent: March 29, 1988Assignee: Eltreva AGInventor: Hans Schmidlin

Patent number: 4720954Abstract: A screen ceiling assembly including a plurality of spaced carrier members which are connectable to a supporting structure such as a roof. There is also provided a multiplicity of ceiling panels which are each positioned at an angle to a common frame through a plurality of the carrier members. There is also provided clip means interconnecting a respective ceiling panel and carrier member. The invention is characterized in that each of the ceiling panels is pivotably connected with each of its carrier members about a longitudinal axis parallel to the panel length axis by way of a pivot construction comprising one of the clip means or part thereof. This allows each panel to adopt a desired angled position in respect of each of the carrier members. Preferably each panel is retained in the desired angled position by retaining means.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: January 26, 1988Assignee: Hunter Douglas International, N.V.Inventor: Albert E. Patent number: 4715643Abstract: A universal rear window louvered unit for pickups which has a louvered window frame with the perimeter edge of generally conforming configuration to a pickup rear window and a series of spaced-apart louvers extending across the frame, with each louver having a flush mount bottom portion adapted for easy planer cutting removal. Optionally, the unit has a removable center portion which can be taken out to provide access to a slider window. The unit is designed for elimination of labor intensive steps and preparation.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1987Date of Patent: December 29, 1987Assignee: Deflecta-Shield Corp.Inventor: Diego Butler L.

Patent number: 4709659Abstract: The present invention is directed to a forced entry and ballistic resistant barrier comprising a plurality of adjacent segments securely and rigidly affixed to each other. Each segment includes a first pair of longitudinally elongated C-shaped channels whose concave sides are diametrically opposed about a flat bar positioned therebetween. In addition to the first pair of C-shaped channels, each segment preferably comprises a second pair of longitudinally elongated C-shaped channels, larger than the first pair, positioned concentrically about the first pair such that one channel of the second pair overlaps a convex portion of one channel of the first pair; the other channel of the second pair overlaps a complementary convex portion of the other channel of the first pair. The first and second pair of C-shaped channels are positioned so as to preferably obtain a relatively high Free Area percentage while still maintaining strict ballistic resistance and forced entry standards.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1985Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Assignee: Norment Industries, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey B. Patent number: 4706433Abstract: Suspended ceiling assembly includes a plurality of supporting members 14 which carry panels of the ceiling, the members 14 being longitudinally slidable along a beam having a web 11 and side flanges 12 terminating in rims 13. The mutual spacing between the supporting members 14 is determined by distance members (not shown) and the supporting members 14 are arranged in groups, the end ones of the groups being held in place by clips 37 having a projection 40 engaged in an aperture 41 in the web of the channel to hold the members of the group in position. When the clips are removed, the panels can be pulled back, to gain access to the space thereabove.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1985Date of Patent: November 17, 1987Assignee: Hunter Douglas International N.V.Inventor: Willem Rijnders

Patent number: 4688767Abstract: A louvered wall is formed of spaced stacks of thin masonry blocks with elongated louvers disposed between adjacent blocks and extending longitudinally of the wall through several stacks of blocks. The middle longitudinal region of each louver is higher than its longitudinal edge regions and the upper and lower surfaces of the blocks are shaped to conform to the cross-sectional configuration of the louvers to lock the blocks and louvers against transverse movement.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1986Date of Patent: August 25, 1987Inventor: Richard J. Patent number: 4685717Abstract: Means for attaching a moulded plastic louvre onto a rear window of a motor vehicle including an attachment member to be adhered to the external surface of the glass of the rear window and a releasable member which engages with resilient clamping pressure and over-size aperture in the perimeter of the louvre article. An attachment member includes a lip portion to engage between a resilient surround and the glass of the rear window to assist in anchorage and there are means to assist in location accurately of the attachment member with respect to the various location apertures in perimeter of the louvre article.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1983Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: Kim Garfield AungerInventor: Ronald Gaston

Patent number: 4671023Abstract: The covering device consists in an aerated grate comprising tabs AL with an automatic and manually controlled rotation angle according to the intensity of rain and/or snow or wind.Tabs AL have a semitubular base profile 1, a baffle plate 2, a dripping plane 3, a vertical wall or plane 4, and a plurality of intermediate planes 5 with upper portions 5A, having bounce-preventing and gutter functions to collect rain in a double gutter frame 7, which rain water is then led into a reservoir 21 which will, due to the increasing weight thereof, lift a counterweight 9 to cause the automatic closing of tabs AL.Alternatively, the tabs may be closed by operating manual lever 16 or by means of a wind operated automatism having an aerodynamic plane 27 being provided with a limit stop rotation angle to allow it to recede from the wind.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1985Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Inventor: Mario Gigli
