Grooves On Juncture Face Patents (Class 52/605)
  • Patent number: 4285179
Abstract: A substantially crack-free load-bearing wall of prefabricated building elements and method of producing the same comprising a plurality of pre-fabricated building elements made of light-weight concrete each having a modulus of elasticity less than 8,000 kg/cm.sup.2. The elements are substantially rectangular in shape and have longitudinal grooves on their respective longitudinal edges. The elements are first shrunk by steam hardening or by storage for a pre-selected period of time and then arranged side by side with their lateral side edges in abutting relationship so that the grooves of the respective adjacent elements form vertical channels therebetween. The channels are filled with heavy concrete which provides a tensile-resistant bond between the elements and which also forms pillars which carry the major part of any load applied to the wall.

  • Patent number: 4228628
Abstract: There is provided a masonwork which consists of stacked building blocks forming several superimposed horizontal courses. The upper sides of blocks in lower courses and the undersides of blocks in the next-higher courses have registering mirror symmetrical sockets in the form of generally hemispherical cavities for reception of spherical connectors. Auxiliary connectors can be provided to couple neighboring blocks of each course to each other; such auxiliary connectors constitute discrete parts having webs received in aligned channels of the respective blocks and end portions which extend into neighboring sockets or blind bores of such blocks.

  • Patent number: 4207718
Abstract: A wall comprising concrete blocks each having a longitudinally extending, wedge-shaped groove in one side thereof, the groove communicating with a pair of bores that extend through the block. The block is molded in a hollow shell or frame open at its top and bottom, the frame removably mounting a support from which depends a pair of cores by means of which the block bores are formed. Associated with the frame is a compactor and ejector member having at its lower end a base adapted to be accommodated snugly within the frame and having on its lower surface elongate, wedge-shaped grooving means that forms the groove in the block. The grooving means is longitudinally slotted to accommodate the core support and the grooving means and the base also are bored to accommodate the cores.

  • Patent number: 4110949
Abstract: A construction block of generally rectangular form having parallel upper and lower faces between which extend, through the block, one or more wide apertures and a plurality of narrow holes; the end faces of the block have wide grooves which cooperate, in a wall structure constructed from a plurality of horizontal courses of such blocks, to provide chambers between adjacent blocks of a course, the wide apertures in the blocks of adjacent courses cooperating to form vertically extending channels, the narrow holes house locating pins for holding the blocks of adjacent courses together until they are joined by concrete cast into the said vertical channels; the said upper and lower parallel faces have central depressions which form, between adjacent courses of blocks, horizontal channels linking the vertical channels so that the concrete cast into the vertical channels can also flow into and fill the horizontal channels to form an interlinked network giving great strength to the wall.

  • Patent number: 4040225
Abstract: The building block of the present invention includes a plurality of pins which are arranged in two rows of unequal length with each projecting from a common surface in a plane perpendicular to such surface and a recessed channel on a surface opposite to such surface in alignment with the longer row and of a depth at least equal to the difference between the two rows. The recessed channel of one row of blocks serves as a guide for sliding in the adjacent upper row in forming a wall of such blocks.

  • Patent number: 4016693
Abstract: A masonry block is disclosed having a pair of spaced opposed side walls forming only a single cavity therebetween. The side walls define the outer side periphery portions of the block and include mutually facing inner surfaces. At least two opposed web walls extend between the side walls. The web walls have inner surfaces extending between the inner surfaces of the side walls. The web walls include channels situated intermediate the ends of the inner web surfaces. The channels extend in a top-to-bottom direction and converge toward the bottom of the block. An insulative plate of thermally insulative material is disposed in the cavity with the ends thereof being mounted in the channels. The insulative plate is situated intermediate the side walls to divide the cavity into a pair of air cells separating the insulative plate from the side walls. The single cavity formed between the side walls may be partitioned into a plurality of cavity portions by one or more intermediate web walls.

  • Patent number: 4015387
Abstract: Prefabricated elements juxtaposable for making partitions and walls of buildings, having each one the shape of a parallelepipedic plate comprising a core provided on at least one edge with longitudinal grooves in each one of which open cavities sloping with respect to the edge surface, the grooves and cavities being filled after juxtaposition of the elements with a settable binder injected under pressure, the core consisting of a light-weight, rigid and strong material and being formed on its portions comprising said grooves with means for communication between the grooves, said means being filled with binder upon its injection under pressure into the grooves and cavities.

  • Patent number: 4003172
Abstract: The interlocked building blocks, which normally require no mortar, have undercut grooves around their face edges, forming dove-tail-sectioned grooves at all the joints between adjacent blocks in a wall, which may be used to receive and hold sealing material for the joints, as well as to provide suitable support means for fixing attachment hooks or clips to the wall.
