Abstract: An alignment jig uses steel alignment cross members and chords to align multiple load bearing member footing legs simultaneously with great accuracy, thereby greatly speeding construction footing installation times. Using preset adjustment stops, multiple footing patterns may be readily accommodated. The entire alignment jig may be readily assembled or prepared for transport by skilled workers in an hour or less. By using the alignment jig, the speed of footing construction may be greatly increased. In some cases, footings that would have previously required four days to a week to build were reduced to a single day, with consequent cost and time savings. Although one initial use of the alignment jig is for high voltage power line tower footings with four legs, it may be used with as few as two legs, and may be used with more than four legs, and in a variety of applications.

Abstract: A bracket for a post comprises a body adapted for being located at the post and at least one projection extending out from the body. The projection is adapted for retaining thereat at least one of a ground securing pin and an end of a tensioning rod. A post securement system comprises the bracket and at least one of the ground securing pin and tensioning rod. A method employing the bracket locates the post in ground, locates the bracket along the post and positions at least one of the ground securing pin and tensioning rod to be retained at the bracket.

Abstract: A modular window well arrangement includes one or more window well members. The window well members can be interconnected in a vertically stacked arrangement to provide the required overall height. Snap-connectors interconnect the vertically adjacent window well members, and a plurality of steps provide for escape. The window well members may have different sizes, and extension walls may be utilized to increase the size of the window well members to provide for a wide variety of configurations. The window well members may be made of a relatively lightweight structural foam material.

Abstract: A block wall or fence and methods for constructing a block wall or fence with a footing framework encased in concrete to form a footing support structure wherein the blocks of the wall or fence may be laid without first constructing the footing support framework or first enclosing the footing framework in concrete. Additionally, vertical reinforcing members located in vertical columnar cavities within blocks of the wall and/or horizontal reinforcing members located in horizontal channels within blocks of the wall form a reinforcing framework; wherein some or all of the blocks of the wall or fence may be laid before encasing the reinforcing framework and/or the footing support framework in concrete.

  • Patent number: 7823348
Abstract: A system and method which positions and orients a wall post or column during positioning and supports the post after it has been positioned. The system embodying the principles of the present invention is set and contacts surfaces of the post. The system includes two monolithic one-piece anchor blocks located on a level surface to have top faces thereof located co-level with each other and tie and cross rods each of which has a surface that is vertically oriented when in use and which abuttingly engages a corresponding surface of the post when in use. At least one tie rod is connected to the anchor block top faces and the cross rod is attached to the tie rod. The tie rod is located at a desired position relative to a reference plane and the cross rod is located at a desired location relative to a reference location. The post is located between the two anchor blocks and in abutting contact with the vertically oriented surfaces of the rods.

Abstract: According to the invention, a method for constructing a multi-story building is disclosed. The method may include slip forming a building core with support member casings deposited within the building core. The method may include providing support pedestals around the building core to support roof structural members, coupling roof structural members, and lifting the roof structure to a first elevation from a top of the building core. The method may include supporting support members with the support member casings, and supporting the roof structure at the first elevation with the support members. The method may include coupling a plurality of floor structural members on the support pedestals. The method may include lifting the floor structure to a second elevation from the top of the building core. The method may include supporting the floor structure at the second elevation with other support members.

  • Patent number: 7707797
Abstract: A circular concrete cap foundation poured in-situ within a perimeter forming corrugated metal pipe set atop or within an excavated pit and enclosing a series of circumferentially spaced pile anchors. The circular concrete cap foundation supports sets of inner and outer circumferentially spaced tower anchor bolts having their lower ends anchored to an embedded anchor ring and their upper ends projecting vertically and upwardly out the top of the circular foundation to engage the base flange of a supported tower. The pile anchors are formed with perimeter corrugated metal pipes set deep in subsurface soils with cementitious material surrounding and partially bonding to a centralized steel bolt or tendon which extends through the cap foundation. The tower anchor bolts and the pile anchor bolts are both partially encased in a PVC sleeve so that the bolts can be post-tensioned. The pile anchors are in tension only and serve to pull the cap foundation down to compress the underlying ground soils.

  • Patent number: 7694487
Abstract: A tubular post for a light or other electrical device is mounted in soil with the use of an anchor which is comprised of a vertical sleeve and a flange which extends horizontally from the lower end of the sleeve. A flat bottom excavation is made in soil, to receive the anchor. Electrical conductors are run across the top of the flange, through ports in the sleeve and up the interior of the post. A stop within the bore of the sleeve limits downward movement of the post which is inserted into the top of the bore, to enable the running of the conductors through the ports. The excavation is then backfilled. When the anchor has been installed in soil so that top of the sleeve is near the surface, the post may be lifted from the sleeve and replaced without making a new excavation.
