Abstract: Connectors for joining adjacent modular floor covering units. The connectors include a film and an adhesive layer coated on one side of the film. To install tiles using the connectors, a first tile is placed on the floor and a connector is positioned so that the adhesive layer faces upward and does not contact the floor. The connector is typically positioned so that only a portion of the adhesive layer adheres to the underside of the tile, leaving the remainder of the connector extending from the underside of the tile. Tiles are then positioned adjacent the first tile so that a portion of the connector adheres to the adjacent tiles. In this way, the connectors span adjacent tile edges. The tiles are assembled on a underlying flooring surface without the need to attach them to the floor surface. Rather, the tiles are linked to each other with the connectors, so that the tiles create a floor covering that “floats” on the underlying floor surface.

Abstract: A distribution angle plate for a concrete floor system in a multi-level building is disclosed. The plate helps to create a joist bearing point at the interior surface of a vertical structural wall and proximate the top portion of the vertical structural wall. Decking may be laid flat over the top surface of the steel joist and the top surface of the vertical structural wall. This allows the decking to be screwed, welded, or shot directly to the top surface of the vertical structural wall and the top of the steel joist on the same horizontal plane. This also provides for a direct shear attachment at the perimeter of each vertical structural wall. Any height of concrete can then be poured on top of the decking, steel or wood, on a flat continuous plane. This creates a continuous solid mass between vertical structural walls in multi-story buildings, with no voids between floors.

Abstract: Problems faced in the residential construction industry include the shortage of skilled manpower which gives rise to problems such as the inconsistencies in construction quality, time delay and cost overrun. Assembly rods are provided to couple the vertical framing sections and are tensioned to load the first framing members in longitudinal compression. The framing members are fastenable to each other. The second framing members can be held together using splice plates. The retractable enclosure may also include a drive system. A related method of constructing a retractable enclosure is also provided.

Abstract: A concrete floor assembly is disclosed including a subfloor element with a floor side and a ground/ceiling side, and a top casting layer. In at least one embodiment, the subfloor element includes a concrete portion on the floor side, which concrete portion has a bottom casting surface with a surface roughness. The top casting layer includes a casting composition, which includes a self-compacting concrete and a shrinkage reducing admixture. The top casting layer is cast on the floor side of the subfloor element so that at least a portion of the bottom casting surface is covered by the top casting layer, the bottom casting surface having such surface roughness that the top casting layer adheres to the bottom casting surface. A method of providing such a concrete floor assembly is also disclosed, as well as a floor assembly.

Abstract: A U-shaped rigidifying member cooperates with parallel metal “logs” each usually extending horizontally. A curved portion of the U wraps halfway around a first log, and first and second legs respectively descend in parallel from opposite sides of the curved portion. The legs are substantially tangent to a second log. This structure is repeated with the U-shaped members overlapping and inverted or otherwise oriented to shed rain, and forms all or part of a wall or sloping roof of a building. The U-shaped members are secured to each other and to the logs to form a continuous structural ensemble that is aesthetically pleasing, even without additional interior and exterior sheathing. It is moreover strong and highly resistant to an external force having a horizontal component parallel to the plane of the wall or roof. The rigidifying members can alternatively be J-shaped.

Abstract: The present invention provides a drain installation kit adapted to maintain alignment of the center of a sloping floor aperture with the center of a drain throughout the construction process. In a preferred embodiment, the kit includes an upper flange that is rigidly connectable to a drain base and multiple sloping guide bars that are rigidly connectable in a radial fashion to the upper flange. A user can use this preferred embodiment by assembling it, adding cementitious material between the guide bars, and making an upper surface of the cementitious material flush with a top edge of the guide bars. Embodiments of the present invention provide a variety of advantages over conventional drain installation kits. For example, many embodiments provide improved functionality, many embodiments are easier for do-it-yourselfers to use, and many embodiments can be manufactured more efficiently.
