Rimmed Furniture Top Formed Of Face-to-face Sheets Patents (Class 52/782.2)
  • Patent number: 11839302
Abstract: A banquet table comprises a laminate tabletop with a high-pressure solid composite laminate of paper impregnated with resin. A hoop carries a perimeter of the tabletop and has a perimeter with a size and a shape substantially matching a size and a shape of a perimeter of the tabletop. Elongated runners carry an interior of the tabletop. Legs are coupled to the runners and extend to elevate the tabletop thereon. A polymer trim surrounds the perimeter of the hoop. The trim has a vertical height substantially the same as a vertical thickness of the hoop, with the tabletop extending above a height of the trim so that the tabletop has an exposed perimeter edge. The trim has a horizontal thickness extending laterally beyond the tabletop.

  • Patent number: 7670670
Abstract: A surface-covering system and methods for making and using the same. The system includes a plurality of components each being a substantially planar portion having plurality of edges and an upper surface and an under surface. A second portion is attached to the under surface of the planar portion along a predetermined one of the edges, forming a thickened edge that has a predetermined cross-section. The plurality of components are placed edge-to-edge to cover a surface. If desired, the edges can be straight and/or the upper and lower surfaces of the components can be rectangular. Also, the cross-section of the thickened edge can be an arc of a circle. The second portion can be attached to the under surface of the planar portion by an adhesive such as an epoxy adhesive. The component can be made from a quarry material such as granite.

  • Publication number: 20080295449
Abstract: An assembly and method for its use that provides a strong and efficient way of attaching a decorative molding component to a countertop unit or similar furniture piece. The countertop unit consists of a countertop core component with a countertop edge piece that is pre-attached to its unfinished edge before application of a countertop finish surface material. The countertop edge piece has a specially configured groove pre-cut in its bottom surface which in turn creates a wedge-shaped tongue. The decorative molding component has a unique “J”-shaped attachment side with a tongue and groove of its own that interlocks and wedges with the tongue and groove in the countertop edge piece portion of the countertop unit. The interlocking action of this assembly and methodology eliminates the need for clamping while still providing both a tighter fit between components and a precise method for adjusting and aligning component surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6413337
Abstract: A natural stone edging tile having a top portion and a generally perpendicular facing portion can be mounted on the forward edge of a countertop substrate and has a portion extending rearward of the forward edge that is approximately half as thick as the forward edge and the same thickness as conventional stone tiles that can be mounted rearward of the edging tile. The conventional tiles have a thickness that is approximately half as thick as a typical stone slab countertop, but to a person viewing the countertop, the entire appears to have the substantial thickness of a typical slab countertop because the forward edge of the edging tile has such a thickness.

  • Patent number: 6343454
Abstract: A fast, easy method of attaching and properly adjusting furniture edging that facilitates the improved aesthetic quality of the finished product while also providing an attachment that is both strong and watertight. The countertop assembly defines a edge construction having a unique double tongue and groove configuration that wedgably interlocks a decorative side molding against the exposed edge of a furniture panel by means of a specially configured groove on the bottom side of the furniture panel. This method of edge construction instantly locks and tightens the edge molding against the furniture panel edge thus, eliminating the need for temporary clamping while at the same time allowing for critical vertical adjustment of the edge molding to ensure the proper alignment of the top of the edge molding with the furniture panel.

  • Patent number: 6309501
Abstract: A method for making a beveled laminate corner on an edge piece for laminate countertop includes making a first cut into a laminate-covered edge piece at the angle of the bevel at the front edge of the edge piece. The first cut terminates below the laminate at the top of the edge piece. A second cut is made through the laminate and into the edge piece at an angle that is normal to the first cut. The second cut intersects the first cut at its upper extremity and has a predetermined depth. A rectangularly cross-sectioned laminate-covered bevel piece, having a thickness equal to said predetermined depth, is then adhesively attached to the edge piece abutting the surfaces formed by the first and second cuts.

  • Patent number: 6183585
Abstract: A countertop is made having a laminate or veneer horizontal upper surface and a laminate or veneer vertical face, has a corner element with an arcuate surface that smoothly fairs into both the upper surface and the vertical face. The countertop is made by leaving the vertical edge of a deck unfinished and placing a vertical veneer strip on an edge piece which is then attached to the edge of the deck. The edge piece is made from a block having the vertical veneer strip attached to one of its sides. Diagonal cuts are made at the top and bottom of the face side of the block and rectangularly cross-sectioned strips, from which the corner elements will be formed, are glued to these cuts. The strips are then machined to form the smooth arcuate surfaces which will fair into the laminate surfaces. The back of the block is then machined to create the end piece which mates with the countertop deck.
