  • Patent number: 7296383
Abstract: A decorative shutter assembly includes a plurality of slats or boards arranged in a row presenting a decorative surface with side flanges projecting rearwardly. At least one cross member overlays each of the slats and presents a decorative cross surface with side cross flanges projecting rearwardly. Each cross slat includes at least one mating member affixed behind the cross slat decorative surface having a mating wall affixed to each of the decorative surfaces for affixing the plurality batten slats to the cross slat.

  • Patent number: 6969109
Abstract: Lightweight sectional doors for cargo bodies and the like are reinforced by a reinforcing member supported on an inner wall surface of at least alternate ones of the panels of a multipanel door. The reinforcing member comprises an elongated, preferably extruded member having spaced apart coplanar flanges and an arcuate web interposed the flanges. An integral rib is disposed at the midpoint of the arcuate web to provide additional stiffness for the reinforcing member. The reinforcing member may be secured to selected door panels by conventional mechanical fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6389766
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for enhancing the load carrying capacity of new or existing, spanning, structural lumber. The device consists of a perforated steel strap, attached at both ends of a spanning structural member by means of standard fasteners such as nails, screws or bolts and running parallel to the long axis of the member either on the bottom or along the side. The strap is then tensioned by means of a central expanding device such as opposed wedges. The tensioning of the strap has the effect of adding tensile strength to the bottom chord of the spanning structural member as well as supporting the center of the member, thereby increasing the load carrying capacity. The device could be attached to new structural lumber before installation to either reduce the size of the member needed for a given span or to increase the spanning capacity for a given size of lumber.

  • Patent number: 6295787
Abstract: An outer structure for a refrigerated food storage apparatus includes an outer shell forming a visible exterior of the apparatus; and an inner liner made of molded plastic and coupled to the outer shell, to form an inter-panel space to be filled with a body of foam insulation. The inner liner includes bosses of a predetermined length, integrally formed with the inner liner at regular intervals and extending toward the outer shell, to support and maintain a constant spacing between the outer shell and inner liner; a foam-injection inlet for injecting foam; and vents for exhausting air and gases generated during a foam injection process. A reactive foam completely fills the inter-panel space, to form a consistent body of insulation. The force of the reactive foam filling the inter-panel space closes a hinged first flap for covering the foam-injection inlet and a plurality of hinged second flaps for covering the vents.

  • Patent number: 6192637
Abstract: A moveable structural reinforcement system is described including a moveable panel, a metal frame structure connectable to the frame structure of a building opening, the frame structure including a top support member and lateral supports connected on a first end to the top support member, upper load members disposed on the top support member proximate the lateral supports, bottom load members disposed on the second ends of the lateral supports, and load transfer members disposed substantially diagonally on said panel and adapted to releasably engage the upper and lower load members. The load transfer members providing a substantially continuous load path when the panel is in a closed position and the building or structure is subjected to a lateral force.
