Channel shaped inserts positioned in adjacent front and rear channels of two end-to-end seat sections (or footboards) span the joint between the seat sections and extend endwise into each to maintain end-to-end alignment between the seat sections. Each channel shaped insert is anchored in one or the other of the end-to-end seat sections and permits expansion and contraction displacement movement between the seat sections.
