Patent number: 5545679Abstract: An improved PTC current limiting composition has been provided which comprises a chemically cross-linked thermosetting polyester resin and conductive particles dispersed in the resin. The thermosetting polyester resin is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol fumarate, polypropylene glycol adipate fumarate, neopentyl glycol isophthalate fumarate, and neopentyl glycol phthalate fumarate. The conductive additive particles are selected from the group consisting of graphite and/or carbon black. The composition exhibits PTC behavior when cross-linked by a vinyl monomer selected from the group consisting of styrene, vinyl toluene and tertiary butyl styrene. Curing proceeds by free-radical addition across double bonds of the thermosetting polyester resin and is initiated by organic peroxides. Initial gelation which causes cross-linking but not final curing takes about 0.5 to 4 hours at a temperature of about 25.degree. C. to 125.degree. C. The final cure takes about 0.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1995Date of Patent: August 13, 1996Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Parker A. Bollinger, Jr., Denis A. Mueller, James D. B. Patent number: 5529876Abstract: The present invention is directed to an encapsulated toner for heat-and-pressure fixing having a heat-fusible core material containing at least a thermoplastic resin and a coloring agent and a shell formed thereon so as to cover the surface of the core material. An amorphous polyester is used as the main component of the shell, and the amount of the amorphous polyester is normally 3 to 50 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the core material. The encapsulated toner of the present invention is excellent in offset resistance, fixable even at a low temperature and excellent in blocking resistance when it is used for heat-and-pressure fixing using a heat roller.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1995Date of Patent: June 25, 1996Assignee: Kao CorporationInventors: Mitsuhiro Sasaki, Tetsuya Asano, Kuniyasu Kawabe, Hiroyuki Kawaji, Kazuhiro Fujiki

Patent number: 5451620Abstract: This invention is related to a procedure to produce paste for stone quarry, calcareous stones and other porous stony finishing, similar to cement or mortar, which comprises the combination of resin with calcium carbonate, silica grit or river sand aggregate, to give body to the resin. The aggregate can be mixed with cement and be pigmented in different colors and milled in diverse grain sizes for example, to obtain a perfect copy of stone quarry. It is possible also, to use additives like cobalt and catalysts to protect resin from ultraviolet rays or from flames, in case the binding paste comes in contact with fire.Additionally, the binding paste comprises quantities of water to produce cavities for porosity. It also contains a silica product named Aerosil, which allows the paste to become more dense to help its laying in the mold, without the necessity to pour as a liquid. If the paste is too dense it can be diluted with monomers.Detergent is used to ease the laying of the paste in the mold by hand.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1994Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Inventor: Hector Cepeda-Guerra
